Firstly, welcome back to the UK. My sister and her boyfriend flew Norse, and they were very impressed with it. They didn't book the economy lite ticket, but the next one up from that. Lovely plane, lovely staff and amazing price was what she said about Norse, similar to what other friends have said about them.
Thanks, great flight review, you have given me some confidence on booking Norse between London and Cape Town, these honest flight reviews are brilliant, and give so much useful information. Keep up the great work
I just started watching your videos this week, and by coincidence I am making this exact flight in reverse in january so this was super informative and has helped me prepare for my first ever US trip so thank you! I paid for the economy classic upgrade so get extra luggage and a meal included, plus knowing there was a vegan option easily available was great.
OH and I just got to the end of the video so to add regarding meal deals you should try out some of the Christmas sandwich options! and the festive bake at greggs!
They fly Bangkok to Oslo, and next year also BKK to Stockholm. Unfortunately no conecting ticket, so you have to plan for good conection time, or as i do, stay a night. It might be the cheapest way to go from Australia to Europe.
One thing you could try for future "we have a limit to luggage, but we NEED lots of stuff" is to go with old stuff you will on your trip wash and then give away to charity, and buy replacements to wear AND put in luggage new on your visit, so you leave with old stuff and come back with new stuff. You can get twice as many clothes in effect that way.
Instead of bringing more stuff and spending 95 quid for a bag, keep the money and replace what you left behind. You'll pay the 95 on the way back but then you've got new stuff to take home.😊
Or travel out in old stuff that you will replace, both what you are wearing and pretty much EVERYTHING in the bag, even if that means "earlier that we'd do it" or "Well, normally we'd not choose THIS ensemble together".
I did that on the dreaded Ryanair. Bought a cheap suitcase as well as my presents while I was in Italy, but booked it online on the flight back when I first booked. I can't imagine 10 hours with no food. Can you make a sandwich and take it with you?
But you still have to pay for your suitcase.. empty or full in way out or buy a new one for way back which could be about $95 and whatever else you buy to being back..
That is one heck of a take off view! $30 for that meal is grim... If you're heading near Cambridge, PLEASE give us a holler. We'd love to give you guys a tour! N&Nx
I don't know how you did it but the quickest way fr0m Gatwick to Bath is the direct train to Reading, about 1.45hr and then change platform for the train to Bath, about another hour. It avoids crossing London between Paddington and Victoria. Much better with luggage.
WELCOME to the UK, hope you have a wonderful time in our country. Bath was an excellent choice. Check out Sally Lunn's - kind of tourist trap in some ways but the food is VERY British and it's genuinely good - book ahead. The Thermae Spa is expensive but lovely too.
Travel out with empty small bags inside your travel on one. Take only one change of clothing. Buy new cheap garments at the destination. Very cheap items either bin or pack dirty. Keep receipts if you are checked. Cross off any you have thrown away. Fly back with your less minimal luggage. This can be cheaper than paying excess baggage charges, also try and keep within your cost allowances for importing goods.
We fly Norse from Orlando to Gatwick but buy premium for around 1000 each. We also have to pay for seats at around 60 each. We went for 25 nights recently and just took a 20 inch each and tote. They fed us nonstop and the drinks were coming whenever we hit that button on the screen. I get an aisle and husband gets an aisle as if you sit by the window you have to climb over the seats to get out. The arm rest in the middle and the people reclining trap you. The crew were great. I hate that there is no app and they don't let you check in on line or update you. We did buy the fast track to get back and stayed at Hilton airport night before. We went to Bath for four nights from Gatwick. I love Bath and we took the train to Bradford on Avon. Beautiful place. Wetherspoons had great vegetarian meals. Coming home our plane was full with Disney ride creators. Fun!
I have flown with them at least a dozen times . If you know what to expect and come prepared its fine. I pack my own food and drink and dress in layers. I have flown an 11 hour flight where I have had zero interaction with a single flight attendant. Thats not necessarily bad. Its not for everyone. No friills but gets you there.
Good to have you back! If you want to take in some Georgian architecture whilst here, do pop down the road to Bristol, as any Bristolean will tell you, we have more Georgian houses than Bath! ;-) More seriously, do try to get along the Somerset and Devon coast to Porlock Weir, and along to Lynton, Lynmouth and the Valley of the Rocks to say hello to the wild goats. Across the Severn Bridge just outside of Newport easily accessible by public transport is the amazing village of Caerleon, with a Roman ampitheatre, Barracks and museum, all without the crowds of Bath. Or there is the Aqueduct at Avoncliff just a bus ride away, near Bradford on Avon.
Welcome back to the UK! We’re going to the Christmas light switch in tomorrow (Saturday 30th Nov) in Cirencester, a beautiful Cotswold town not far from Bath, it has a Christmas market, fireworks from the top of the church, food carts, ye olde pubs and a festive vibe. You should come if you’re able!
Awesome! So excited for you both to be back in England. Looking forward to your adventure and wishing the best for this holidays. BTW you both are looking great and I'm digging the new hair color.
I’m from the UK, living in the US, and my family member flew Norse to see me….the flight out was fine, but they cancelled his return flight without telling him, and we just noticed when he got here. We wasted a day re-booking and attempting to get refunds etc. I wouldn’t take the chance again.
Hey, we fly Ryanair here, so we're used to this. If its under USA FAA rules, get travel insurance to cover any issues. If its EU rules you may be partially covered if something goes a bit awry.
Meal deals are great. You can get a sandwich (sometimes a club) plus a snack and a drink usually for less than £4. Recommendations would be try Boots, Sainsbury’s and Tesco. There’s a Boots inside departures at Gatwick airport so you could get something to eat for on the plane home. Bath is a fantastic city. If you get a chance take a visit to Castle Combe which is about 30 mins away and a really pretty Cotswold village often used a filming location. Have a fantastic time!
Gatwick is my favourite airport to travel in to. Been there so many times I could almost navigate it blindfold. Very, Very busy though, but at least you can get a train into London very quickly
$30 for an airplane meal is shocking 😮 Incidentally Icelandair and Play Airlines (also via Reykjavik) are often good options for crossing the Atlantic, but I'm not sure you can go from the SW US.
Welcome back Jeremy & Cara. Enjoy your stay, and enjoy the weather!! Gives you something to strike up a conversation about, with a typical standoffish Brit! Looking forward to the coming video/videos.
When my aunt came over from Australia, she posted most of her clothes back home, so she could take things home with her that she had bought. She said it was cheaper than paying for extra luggage.
Did the same UK to NZ. Packed a whole box including shoes and formal attire that I needed on the way out but could be dispensed with on the return leg. Once sealed I weighed and reweighed the box only to have the weight disputed and a hefty surcharge applied while in transit. Their word against mine. Next time I intend taking everything to the local post office to get the weight certified and signed. It should stop these rip-offs.
This budget airline concept seems new to Americans, but the diy/pick your own food/hand luggage only/has been common in Britain/Europe for decades, although not 10 hour flights.
Short hauls are second nature to us flying around Europe, but bringing the easyJet principle to long haul just seems weird. I want my extra leg room/wider recliner seat/free drinks/menu/two free hold suitcases please! 😉
Norse are basic but they do the basics well. I've flown with them a few times and never had a problem. I'd be curious as to how your return journey goes. Hoping you're having an awesome Christmas.
I'm flying Norse shortly in Premium MCO to LGW. Their planes are the old Norwegian 787's and it seems their selling process is the same as that excellent airline. Thanks for the tip for the Customer Service (hopefully I won't need it) I managed to get a great Premium fare which includes most of those extras described, except the seat assignment fee. On the way back I paid extra for Gatwick My Lounge access. Overall given the upselling from even the legacy carriers the fares with Norse Atlantic when managed right are very competitive. I hope this airline is a success and adds extra U.S and beyond destinations.
‘That excellent airline’? I always hear this but had my worst ever travel experience with Norwegian. They lost all my luggage on a short haul 7 day holiday. Turns out they didn’t even load it on the plane because of payload weight restrictions . It took them 4 days to get my luggage to me. In the meantime, no compensation to let me attempt to at least buy a few clothes, no apology before or once the luggage arrived, and no claims form for compensation later. On returning to the UK they would not engage with my request for compensation. Never again. BA have a bad rep but when a similar thing happened on a long-haul flight (luggage didn’t make it onto the second leg of the flight), I left the airport with £500 (and this was 15 years ago!) to replace missing items. The luggage arrived the next day and was couriered through the mountains to where I was staying. Excellent customer service.
Me and my son flew to Heathrow from San Francisco on British Airways this summer and according to your prices,we would have spent $550 each way, our tickets cost $3,000 return on Economy plus.and we chose a 2 row window seat and drinks are endless..and the food is always good..
Arh welcome back to uk guys, youre both looking great, Cara lovin your new hair style n colour😊 We always book cheap flights and yep most always offer extras at a cost, we never pay more for short haul flights, but long haul I understand why you did. We mostly always fly into Gatwick and when leaving we hit M&S in airport for our meal deals and Greggs for supplies for when we arrive back into Spain. Wouldnt pay any 30dollars per meal, you can buy 2 meals each for much less and include a supply of Greggs sausage rolls and doughnuts for on way back home🤣 Enjoy your holidays enjoy UK xmas lights markets etc, im a little jealous haha xxx
This was typical low cost carrier food - not a lot for a high price and that was expensive even for a low cost carrier. Even Jet 2 which does hot food that can be pre booked only charges around £10. Better off buying a meal deal whilst waiting to board or from M+S and security won't confiscate it. No hot food though.
How did you find LGW, often far quicker into Central London, Victoria on the Gatwick Express, 30 minutes, than from LHR on the Tube, Elizabeth Line or Overground. Particularly during morning rush hour as not so crowded unless a couple of red eyes have landed together. LGW the busiest single runway airport in Europe, it does have an emergency runway but can't be used when main one in use as too close to it, only used if main out of action or an aircraft needs to make an emergency landing so main not blocked or damaged.
Gatwick Express is far more expensive than the regular overground train from Gatwick. Takes about the same amount of time to get you to Kings X and, best of all, it accepts Oyster cards, so much cheaper. As an added bonus, it stops at Blackfriars station, which straddles the Thames, so you get a first view of Big Ben, London Eye etc. one way and Tower Bridge and the Tower of London the other(plus the Shard, Canary Wharf). Since I first discovered it one year when the Gatwick Express wasn’t running, I’ve never gone back to GE. For me, staying on the same train drops me right at the end of my road- win, win!
We have become a world of spoiled children (I'm including myself). When I started flying long haul 30 years ago you had to get to the airport 3 hours before flying with no online check-in, you daren't be a tenth of a pound over your baggage allowance, you'd be better off not eating than the garbage they served in economy catering and the most entertainment you got provided was reading the sick bag. Or a view of an overhead TV 40 feet away playing a VHS copy of some ten year old movie. Nowadays I feel disappointed if I don't get 3 meal choices, free drinks, online checkin, free bags, wifi and 650 movie choices for $1,000 or less to fly 5,000 miles.
Quite right too. I don't see why we can't expect improved service on our flights year on year, otherwise it's a race to the bottom from all the airlines. They are about profits after all. However, I do think that if you choose to pay cheap - you probably will get cheap standards. And maybe we did need a three hour slot at the airport in former times, but then there was the pleasure once of just turning up, checking in and boarding. No pat downs, no scanners, no suitcase searches, no shoes off, take what fluids you liked, no constant warning about leaving luggage anywhere. No worrying about getting blown out of the sky. Hmmm...
It’s really interesting to read how some folks twist some BS to prove that today we’re all just spoiled brats and how much the “good ‘ole times were when men were real men…. bla bla bla”. 😂😂
@@tonys1636 I think your memory is a little mixed up, Laker never operated Comets, that would have been most likely Dan Air, of course in real terms the price you paid in economy class in those days would get you a business class fare these days
I’d never even heard of Norse! I don’t think I’d rush to use a no frills airline on a long trip though. Up to about four hours is ok, but no more! I hope you have a lovely stay in England.
i have flown Norse Atlantic once and it was great for what it was. i have booked it again. The premium economy on Norse is better than virgin Atlantic coach.
With all the addons did Norse still come out way cheaper or would BA/Virgin be better next time? Also aslong as you get there close to the advertised arrival time, delays departing don’t really matter (they build it into the schedule). Love the videos 🙂
It would be good to see the breakdown of all the extras you paid for and add up the total cost. ( sorry if I missed that), I can still see its cheaper than your other options though. welcome back to the UK
On the way back if you're buying food to take on board Pret is another good option although maybe a bit pricier than Boots. Not sure if they've got one airside in both terminals or not.
A little tip for packing Clothes for your UK Trips, ONLY pack one set of spare clothes and then buy what you need when you get here, and for your return flight dump all but what you intend to fly in. That worked well for me for ten years flying over to the USA for my twice a year visits to see friends or for my two week stay at a beach resort to top up my tan
Another thing I always tried to do was to book the back most seats, yes if the plane had rear engines instead of wing placed engine it tended to be effected by loud engine noise levels. Another tip is to try to booked an latest departing overnight flight from the US to UK so you can get a fresh days start on landing in England and maybe the last flight of the day from UK to USA.
The plane is filled that way to evenly distribute the weight for take off and landing. Especially so on flights that are not full. Planes can end up one side heavy which is not good as it leaves the ground.
hey, I spent two weeks back in the UK a couple of years ago and I just travelled with a backpack. Unless you are going to be 'dressing up' for dinner or a function, you can get away with a couple of changes of underwear/socks/shirts - it's called washing your clothes! Unless you want to drag a laptop with your as well (still do-able) the needs for a trip can be actually quite small. After all, how much of what you take in a big luggage bag do you actually need/use every time you travel?
If you're going for an extended period as you are (ie more than a week - 10 days) then instead of taking enough clothes to last 3.5 weeks, just accept you'll use laundry / cleaning services (or do laundry in airBnB) as you're travelling around. Similarly, why on earth spend $30 on an in-flight meal ? Spend the $30 on food to take on board...
I'm old, and although I've flown a lot, am still amazed by the fact that you can get a hot meal 7 miles up in the air. £23 would be a lot on the ground but.....
I always fly long haul with these budget airlines if it's cheaper. 10kg is pretty generous for the one bag excl personal item. Often it 7kg for all of your bags, some it's even 5kg. With the money saved you can always buy things and wear your thick stuff for the journey. But yes it's stressful.
Lots of people suggest buying new, cheap, clothes when you arrive, as a way of avoiding high baggage fees. That simply doesn't work if you are anything other than a standard medium-or-small size and of average height, in your destination country. It does work fine for heavy-ish items such as shampoo, shower gel, moisturisers etc., though - unless you're worried about sensitivities or allergies. However, depending on where you're going and your plans for the trip, do you _really_ want to spend your first couple of days slogging round shops, struggling with unfamilian brands and sizes, when you could be recovering from jetlag and just getting acclimatised?
Rather than seeing Norse as Europes `WORST` airline, many will view them as Europes `BEST` airline as it`s down to how you want to travel. Having the choice of using a budget airline is far better than not & of course all the regular airlines don`t like this budget infringement on their routes as it can affect profits as there`s a sizable section of travellers who really want & need value for money. All that I suggest is borne-out by Norse`s terrific summer season they had in`24. Another thing to mention is they operate state-of-the--art aircraft on long haul routes in their B787 fleet. I think they thoroughly deserve success & I`d be more than happy to use them.
@@AndriyValdensius-wi8gw Precisely, not all of us have the need to be pampered, some just want to get to the destination as quickly & conveniently as possible without fuss.
I booked a good priced flight from Gatwick to Boston for my family on Norse last summer. I also booked a return trip from DC to Gatwick. All good until Norse cancelled both flights without warning or explanation leaving me having to rebook top dollar from BA
We needed return flights London to Cleveland for our sons wedding (lots of luggage required). I searched everywhere for weeks for the best deal, we need premium seats due to back issues and the fact I am 6ft 4". We eventually booked Virgin premium economy LHR to JFK and American first class JFK to Cleveland. We ended up booking through KLM of all people. So free seat selection, 2 x 23kg checked bags each on all flights, free cancellation and refund up to 3 days before departure in case of any issues and we paid £1,050 each all in. I was really surprised.
I am only 4 minutes it - but it cannot be worse than my experience on BA to Lisbon business class. We queued for 45 minutes to check in (business), queued to get on board with everybody else. Sadly we were fed on the plane, the smoked salmon with avocado was disgusting and I really didn't want the curried fish (the only choice left by row 6 on our return). Only one of our two suitcases arrived (the second one came 6 days later). There were other horrors but you get the idea.
Hello Cara and Jeremy. You did this so others might not have to? You survived! Welcome back to UK. I took a cheap flight from Gatwick to Alicante. It all went OK, except the first attempt to land missed the runway. Also the train from Yorkshire to London filled with Millwall fans in Peterborough, so I remained silent in case they mistook me for a Leeds fan. I do not imagi e you having this experience, but you might enjoy watching England v USA women this weekend?
It’s correct that they paid extra to reserve an aisle and one window seat leaving an empty middle seat, but does that mean another passenger could still be placed in the middle seat?
I am planning a trip to the UK in the next couple of years. I am seriously considering just booking trans Atlantic cruises to get there instead of flying. There is no way that my back can handle coach anymore and flying business class is about the same as a cruise. Maybe going on the Disney cruise one way.
Have you thought about getting a credit card that links to airline miles? I have a Virgin Atlantic credit card in the UK, which links to accruing miles that you can use for flights. I know that they have similar in the USA.
I am one of Norse's oldest customers and have traveled with them for years. It has become my favorite Airline. February 2024 we traveled Norse, from Bangkok to Oslo. The last flight on our 33 day Asia raoundtrip, visiting 10 countries with 15 flights with 11 different airlines. We traveled in Premium Econom and payed 900$ al inclusive also seat reservation, for 2 persones. I think that was a wery good deal. The 9kg bag was my carry on and my23 liter 3,5kg back pack, my personale Item. Due to extreme headwind, we where airborne for almost 15 hours and i enyoyed every minute of it. In february we are flying again, from BKK to Oslo. This time i booked the flight later and they have increased the on-way ticket a bit, so now we will try them in Economy witch we haven't done since 2022. Going east we are wisiting Kasakstan and Uzbekistan, and also S.Korea and Japan will have winter, so we need warm shoes and clothes. Since last time Nores have increased carry on weight to 15kg in Premium and 10kg in economy is now included, so i have payed for 15kg checked in, mostly for our winter clothes. I also booked 1 main meal and seat reservation. Total 900$ for 2 persones. We will buy some extra food and coke to bring on the plain also. We had one other Premium Economy flight, with Scoot from Bali to Singapore, also on a 787-9 It was so dirty, the seats where woren out, food was shity and way to little and no entertainment exept internet that hardly worked only the first 1/3 of the flight. Since we travel on so many different airlines i make a list of what i can bring on the different airlines. Personal item, Carry on and Checked in. I know the size of may lugage and bring a weight. I newer have anny problems.
Confused I thought you said they did not serve food. So how did you get that food? Gatwick is far better than Heathrow because it’s smaller it’s quicker. I much prefer to fly in and out from Gatwick but I may be bias as Gatwick is near to where I live. Where is your dog? Anyway hope you enjoyed your trip.
Well you are here safely, that's the main thing. It is good to have you back, hope you have a great time.x

Get yourself into that M&S and grab food for the return journey!
Thanks, great flight review, you have given me some confidence on booking Norse between London and Cape Town, these honest flight reviews are brilliant, and give so much useful information. Keep up the great work
8:50 $30 for THAT paltry meal?! What a rip-off...😮
Got to say loving your new hair colour it really suits you 😊
It’s just as easy to get into central London from Gatwick than it is from Heathrow ! I don’t think a lot of foreign travellers realise that !!
Also you can get off at Clapham for many connecting trains and for Bath if you are going by train then it is infinitely better than Heathrow
Glad you made it, the weather certainly has been 'changeable' but hope you have been having a good time regardless.

They seem like the RyanAir but for International travel. Pro Tip, bring a Boots meal deal on the plane for the flight back :)
That's the best idea. You can get a meal within the security area which includes a sandwich a snack and a drink
New subscriber, living in Australia, i had never heard of Norse Atlantic until now, so thanks for the video😊

Go to Bradford on Avon, near Bath. It is like a miniature Bath with beautiful Cotswold houses and scenery, and a very old Saxon church.❤

The 787 dreamliner is also a positive.
Americans can use Norse via Gatwick to reach worldwide destinations
Welcome back 👍

Now that the Elizabeth Line is running, Heathrow to central London’s rather faster than Gatwick.
Perfectly fine if your expectations are realistic and modest. I suppose as long as you don’t pay Norse prices and expect Emirates service!
Glad you reviewed Norse as I have been considering it.
Don't do it, they are DREADFUL!!

Did it the other way round from Aus but had to pay a release fee from.customs in the uk
Maybe they did that old shopkeeper trick of pressing the scale with their finger ?
@@jnr7265 very sorry to hear that
Looks worth moving seats ......great tip about them loading from the back ....have a lovely stay in the UK
Good Luck..😮. nice to.see you comimg here again, Gatwick.is just fine,.much smaller than Heathrow. 😂
Love your hair colour
Really suits you. 😅
You should’ve gone on the queen mary 2…to red hook terminal Brooklyn..from Southampton..
Would have waited until the Spring myself......but welcome back.
I'm watching this and the phrase "damned by faint praise" was running through my head! 😂
They went from Gatwick to Bath, but didn’t tell us how, maybe coach, or train via Paddington or Clapham Junction.
Gatwick is just down the road from me in Crawley
You guys are awesome, I will always support you. Thanks for making content. Love from Hampshire, UK. :)
Thank you!
Can't be that bad, at least you survived the trip to be able to upload your experience.
It's always a good idea to sit at the back of the plane. They don't tend to reverse into mountains 😉😀🤙
Dont dump things like jackets, coats or hoodies. Donate them to a charity shop
Interesting video. Enjoy Bath.
Welcome home
I hope someone mentioned your hair? It looks amazing! You look superb!
I agree. So they don't provide meals. Big deal. Bring sandwiches. Standard airline food is pretty bad, anyway.
Even though the meal is expensive, I'd still advise to order it for the return flight. It's a daytime flight and a bit longer than the eastbound.
I’ve only flown from Gatwick once, we had an eight hour delay. Not the airports fault but the airline.
I love the colour of your glasses - much nicer than that nasty looking blue bin checker. It would be better to order stuff from the menu .
I’ve never used Norse but I’ve booked Aer Lingus for my next US trip (never flew with them either)
London looks great this time of the year Christmas lights everywhere also Hyde park winter wonderland very good for content but a bit pricey
London is a sh-thole of a place like Paris in France i don't go to iether now full of tourists and refugees😅😅
I hope you guys checked out British Airways here just to get to the UK 🇬🇧 here! Welcome back to the United Kingdom here! 😎👍
Bath, just down the road ❤❤
Hello Cara and Jeremy. You did this so others might not have to? You survived! Welcome back to UK. I took a cheap flight from Gatwick to Alicante. It all went OK, except the first attempt to land missed the runway. Also the train from Yorkshire to London filled with Millwall fans in Peterborough, so I remained silent in case they mistook me for a Leeds fan. I do not imagi e you having this experience, but you might enjoy watching England v USA women this weekend?
We did the premium economy which worked out well, no extra payments, meals included and luggage included.
They expect you to spend money on loads of extras. The trick is not to do that! Usually works out cheaper to buy what you need at your destination.
Good to see you back in the UK guys
If only you had posted pics of yourself on Instagram 😂😂😂😂
Hope you have a great time here
Seen plenty of reviews of this airline where everything went as expected. Can't beat them on price....
When you booked your flight it states it is a low cost airline they replaced Norwegian long haul air line its says on there website you have to pay
yes,,,,should have ordered once on board for food
It’s correct that they paid extra to reserve an aisle and one window seat leaving an empty middle seat, but does that mean another passenger could still be placed in the middle seat?
I find that at altitude I lose my sense of taste all air travel food tastes the same to me!
I'm sure you've heard the old saying "you get what you pay for", right? Pay cheap fares, get cheap service.
