- There's a brand new road connecting Nagpur to Mumbai. Formally called the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, it's a 701km long, 6 lane access controlled expressway. And we've got exclusive time on it before it opens to the public. Nikhil Bhatia introduces you to the road from behind the wheel of a 612hp Mercedes-AMG E 63 S!

7:15 This video is 2 months old ..that time we didnt even know who Eknath shinde was...now everyone knows who he is .
I guess the reason why the speed limit is not 150kmph on this expressway is simple. People and cars ,People are not experienced to handle such speeds and likely go above it, at most places .Majority of Indian cars are either not tested for safety or have failed safety tests . Hope this helps!!!!

Nagpur is at the centre of India. So, the success of this road can be a role model for similar projects to boost pan India connectivity. For instance, Nagpur-Chennai, Nagpur-Kolkata ( Via gaya with straight branching to Patna, Ranchi, Vizag) Nagpur-Chennai, Nagpur- Delhi ( with a provision for straight branching to Lahore and Karachi for future)
Maharashtra as usual shows the nation way forward.🙏

they have unleashed ME2; the samruddhi express way will catapult Maharashtra to the next level of urbanization.
The Expressway is going to witness development of lots food joints, resorts, parks and other commercial establishments.
The entire 700 km stretch will urbanize like anything.
Hope work on the Vidarbha and Marathwada extensions begins sooner.
All credit goes to honest taxpayers like me, Both governments center and state, engineers and workers and farmers who gave their land for this project.

The kind of potential for development that such huge infrastructural projects hold, in a fast developing economy like ours, is mind boggling. I can only imagine the plethora of oppportunities this Expressway opens up for a wide range of population, from businessmen to unemployed youth to agriculturists. Looks really promising. Amazing road, superb car and entertaining host. I hope the access control and cameras are not just for the speed but also for lanes. Heavy trucks hog right Lane which is only for overtaking on Mumbai Pune expressway and it results into accidents, chaos and defeats the whole purpose of an expressway. I hope the government enforces very strict Lane discipline and speed limit like we have in the West.
This is actually great for India. This is the future on how roads will connect cities. Also kudos to the team for valuing the wildlife. I hope this happens across all of India.

It's very proud to see that UP and Maharashtra fighting for the king of expressway Pradesh.
Imagine roads like these all over INDIA in near future and 500 hp electric cars from Tata and Mahindra zip past through them. A true developed Nation. 🇮🇳
Roads like these should have a lower speed limit too, like there is, in US and Europe. Despite the road, there will be trucks and several passenger cars which will literally drive at a snail's pace in all the lanes, essentially slowing the entire highway down. Now that such infrastructure is being constructed, such problems need to be addressed before they become problems.
This is what we call development, fantastic infrastructure 👌

You guys are so damn privileged. Driving that car on an empty world class highway and not paying for speeding. Hats off to msrdc and the govt for this project
Expressway is great, but the 1200 rupees for a 700km journey in just tolls which saves 8 hours seems excessive for most people. Recovering money from this may become difficult which can lead to a similar situation that China is facing with its HSR network, i.e., underutilization & debt. I would suggest to cap the toll to 1 rupee per km which will definitely lead to many more people utilizing the expressway.
To put that into perspective, a 1hr 30 min flight between 2 cities costs 1700 rupees per person. That is 6800 for 4 people.
While a car with 4 people in it costs 5000 fuel +1200 toll = 6200.( this is a conservative measure given the efficiency is 14 km/l. 8 hours travel time…..
"18 townships proposed to come up along this expressway."
Hopefully that won't turn this expressway into an inner city jam-filled road and this will remain as expressway.
All sounds good. But what are the measures for enforcing lane discipline for heavy vehicles? Speed limit for Truck is 80 Km/hr and that for Car is 120 Km/hr. Obviously lane restriction should also be maintained for Trucks.

This expressway will unlock the potential of interior Maharashtra. Cannot wait to drive to Nagpur on this pristine ribbon of tarmac.

Just on a funny note.. as speed limit is max 120, then it doesn't matter we go by AMG E63 S or our BMW Baleno 😜😜
Raipur to nagpur (6hrs 240 km) -nagpur to pune (6 hrs 690km )....dammnn

Excellent content and superb road. I would request all my fellow citizens to keep this road neat and clean and not litter it by throwing plastic bottles and other stuff out of the window on the side of this magnificent piece of art. The Government is doing something good for us citizens so we should also respect their effort. Also a big salute to Mr. Nitin Gadkariji for transforming India's roadways and overall vehicular safety regulations. He is truly doing some great work and not just giving promises like some of our esteemed leaders.

Now we have roads that super cars can stretch their legs on & it's time to break the stereotype of Indian roads can't handle super cars . Since there are a lot of express way around the nation, it would be dream come true for enthusiasts. Here in Kerala everything is kinda locked, even in highway signals are 500m apart & now comes speed cameras for govt to collect some cash 😒

I’ve travelled a lot on this road for 8 years, my Father was posted in Gondia, Chandrapur, Nagpur for all thise years.
Being an Driving enthusiast most of the time drove my VW Polo 1.2 Manual. It was a hectic journey always.
Once during Diwali, i drove the car for exactly 25 hours till Gondia( with one lunch & Dinner brakes ) it was actually impossible for to drive the car that long but i don’t know how i did it.
And record time i took was 14 hours, till Gondia, but that was on 23rd march 2020, the day after Janta curfew. My father being a police officer knew that a 14 day curfew is coming in and declaration will be coming any time, he called me in the Morning and asked me to leave as soon as possible.
I didn’t have my polo at that time, it was with my then Girlfriend(now wife), she took it to her hometown.
How do i leave the city? I Had a hero Honda Karizma and started packing to leave the city on bike.
Luckily my friend offered his Old Tata Nano(2013 model) and i left the city in Tata Nano, it took me 14 hours ( detail story is too interesting ) but why is comment section?
But i don’t use the road anymore as my father has retired.
But the day road is open for general public, i ll go to Nagpur only to see how does it feel to cutshort it. ❤️

Top speed limit is cool and all, can we have fines for lane cutting and lane blocking. Biggest hassle right now on the highways is the meandering path one has to take through trucks, slow uncles and people who drive in the wrong lane. If that is implemented and followed here, it'll be an amazing highway.
