I'll put it this way. They say do things this way when the academic pressure is on in the middle of the school year but when the last day of school comes and all of that academic pressure ends it becomes a point of if you have the respect and admiration of the students even for those hard shell teachers.
Keep working with them in bringing them all around to you and it will pay off in the end.

When it comes to symbolism, think of colors. Ask the kids which colors represent stop and go at a traffic light. Ask them what illustration they see on the side of a gasoline truck. Start with simple symbols and continue slowly with more complex ones over time. This will help with literary symbolism. Congratulations on doing well with partial products and quotients. Remember to celebrate any small successes that you have in the classroom and make them your strengths. Take care.
