I want you all to know that this video is not intended for bragging purposes! I just simply want to show you that anything is possible if you just work hard. Was it my goal to be in the top 10 of my class? No--my goal was always to just give it my all and do my absolute best. My ranking was a byproduct of my hard work.
Oh my God rachel you don't even know how excited i am to watch it! you have been these last two years my source of motivation in medical school. Whenever i don't feel like studying i watch one of your vlogs and just seing you going throught your day and doing your best gave me an instant motivation boost. I have never felt that you were bragging. I've been following you for 4 years and you've been a constant inspiration. I think the secret to happiness is gratitude. You need to take the time to feel grateful of the opportunities, blessings, rewards, recognition, all of it to fully experience life. Congrats on everything you are reaping from all your hard work. Congrats on being top 10! You deff worked for it and you deserve all the recognition! My orthopedic surgeon got an MBA during his residency, and idk how he was able to do that, you reminded me of him. He went to a top competitive program and he truly is an amazing doctor so it deff is not easy doing multiple things at the same time and still be able to perform well. Like you implied, if you put your mind to something and you try your best, you will achieve everything you want. I wish you nothing but the best things in this new chapter in your life! You've got this! You did it before and you can do it again!

This vlog was just what I needed today. I'm going to get the plate in my now-healed broken arm taken out because it's been causing me pain, and it's so daunting knowing I'll have to go under the knife again, recover, rehab, and be out of work. But one bite at a time! Thank you, Rachel, for always being motivation and inspiration for me when I really need it.
Ughhh after quitting medicine i stopped watching your videos altogether terrified that it might trigger the fact that im not pursuing medicine anymore and i always wanted to.... The red ants stickers are still up on the table i used to study on, never had the heart to take them off...
but then i realised i dont need to. Because so what if im not pursuing medicine anymore. Im still a red ant. A red ant who will always remember what it is to be one whenever things get rough.
After almost a year i had the heart to come back to you, im a lot happier and satisfied with how things are now, im finally pursuing music that has always been my passion but i only realised it late (when medicine didnt work out), along with pharmacy because parents want us to play safe but thats fine, cuz i know ill never stop learning music or creating my own and this is what was meant to be❤

Thank you, I am starting medical school in a few months and am excited but anxious at the same time.
I've been studying for the MCAT for the past 3 months and was doing really well. My bf decided to dump me out of nowhere. We were doing really great. His reasons didn't make much sense either, except that he really didn't want to fight for us. Anyways, I've been doing pretty badly emotionally because this was just so out of the blue and I live and work away from home and family. Watching you talk about your own challenges and how to just "eat the elephant one bite at a time" gives me hope. This too shall pass and I'll also get back to my MCAT and become a future doc like you Rachel!

Rachel, whenever you upload it gives me that much more of a boost to study for my medical school entrance exam here in Austria. Ever since deciding to switch to medicine sitting down studying has become "easy" on most days, but there are still those days I just can't be bothered at all. But then (like magical timing) I see one of your videos and it just inspiries me and I basically open up Anki, finish watching your video and then get to it.

Also sorry about your eye again. I've recently got a dental procedure, needed antibiotics to clear out a severe infection and the radiating constant jaw pain made me cry and lose sleep... it made me think differently about patients and treating pain.
My dad tells me that saying about eating elephants any time that I am stressed. Honestly, it has gotten me through life lol

I’m sure people were saying this to you all day, but I think your eye infection makes you look cute! Now I want one. I’m glad you’re okay and I love that your wisdom can be so profound on some days that you respond to exactly what you’re going through in the exact way that you need. I believe you are always a great champion of coping and resiliency and it’s superdope that you share that. Finding a new place obviously went great. Everything that’s stressing you will turn out beautifully the same way. One bite at a time. I’ve been overwhelmed recently so I needed those words and I know pretty much all of us do. Even if this stuff is obvious we still need to remind each other. The more overwhelmed you get the easier it is to forget, you know? Just check in, remember where you’re at and reassure yourself. You got this.

Hey Rachel, I hope you see this. I was just wondering, in your next video, could you talk about your hair loss? I know you mentioned it before, but I am a first year med student (female) and my hair has fallen out SO much. It has happened to myself and another one of my classmates. Just wondering what you have been doing to help grow it back. Was yours stress related? It is so distressing. My derm wants to put me on minoxidil, but I don't want to take that for the rest of my life. Apparently when you come off it, your hair falls out again. Not ideal lol.

First of all BIG CONGRATS!! You worked very hard and you deserve to be at the top!
Please don’t take this the wrong way, and I mean this in the nicest way possible. I do think that the “work hard and you will be the be at the top/ I balanced multiple big things at once/Maximum productivity” mindset can be harmful to students who look upto you.
I’ve been following your med school journey and you worked very hard but you also stressed out so much to a point where you started loosing hair. There are so many videos of you studying, crying, and studying. It’s great that you made top 10 all while juggling a business. But don’t forget to point out to your platform of students that it did come at a great cost- LOTS of stress, affecting social life, relationships, and wellbeing. You have a large platform and a lot of people look upto you. It doesn’t seem right to promote this kind of grind hard mindset. I think it would be good to promote more work/ life balance content. Because life is more than all work.

I think I’m one of the biggest advocates for a balanced lifestyle and “checking in” with yourself. After all that I’ve gone through, I understand how important it is to have balance and I constantly emphasize this in my videos.
Do I think it’s okay to tell people to work hard? Absolutely. It’s okay to inspire others to work hard. Some forms of stress are good to have! It’s character building-perseverance, work ethic, dedication, etc.
Yes, I cried. I lost hair. I lost sleep. And so on, but that was also my choice. That’s the type of person I am, and I cannot fabricate my life as my last 4 years have been portrayed in 15 minute videos on the internet.
I hope that people who watch my videos listen to my countless messages about balance. And that nothing is worth your life. Did I always have balance? No, but I tried really hard to despite the nature of my being. ♥️

I remember a video where u said that u never felt “smart” in high school and maybe even the first year of college and to see u now and everything that you’ve done. I’ve never felt so inspired by someone I don’t even really know before I came across ur channel like 3 1/2 years ago. Your authentic self has done so much for my mental wellbeing when it comes to school and other parts of life. I adapted using a checklist and crossing it off as you go as a reward from you! You inspire and make peoples lives better just by being you 💞

❤❤ I highly recommend taking magnesium glycinate if you aren’t already! I’m very active, hot yoga, lift weights etc. and it truly helps with muscle recovery and supplementing your nervous system
