This noise has been bugging me for about three years now. Initially it took about 150km of highway driving to appear and as we were living in Tasmania we rarely heard it. Moved (and drove) back to Queensland, still squealing but no ill effects that we could see. Bloody annoying but as it got progressively worse to the point where an hour’s driving around town would set it off. And it’s loud and embarrassing. Finally found a UA-cam clip from Nunawading Toyota which described the symptoms EXACTLY. And the fix. Then found your video on the same problem and guess what. Your’s is from two years ago, theirs is from one year ago. Wonder what put them on the right track? So well done crew! Can’t wait to replace those seals. Haven’t been able to find a way to subscribe (just turned 70 and don’t like the idea of facebook) but as soon as you’re back from your break I’ll be ordering an injector kit. Bill Renner. 2013 150 Prado.
Well, thank you very very much. Developed this squeak and my Toyota dealer had no clue. Told them to change seal, if it wasn’t faulty I’d pay if it was it could be warranty. 5.5 years 84k km. It was the seal and they aren’t that happy. Jury is out but to date I haven’t had a bill. It was the one hour drive note that convinced me as my experience was identical. Thanks again Regards.
It comes up like abit of a metal on metal ringing noise I’ve been chasing for awhile now …… I can roll along in neutral select 4wd and it stops the noise….. I’m giving this a go anyway Love the Chanel good work
I had that seal go on my Prado 120 after a deep muddy water crossing on Cape York. Unfortunately the flange was damaged where some grit had got jambed in the seal and scored the outside of the flange similar to what is shown in your video. I purchased a new Toyota seal and a stainless steel press on sleeve kit from SKF bearings. I haven't had a leak there and have travelled over 100,000km since. Much cheaper than replacing the flange.
Do you recall where you found out what sleeve kit or did skf just sort it for you? And you say toyota sold you a seal for the flange assembly, do you know what number by chance mate? In the same boat, long lead time
Hey mate I’ve got a similar squeak on my 2018 Prado and it’s very similar to how you’re describing where I have to drive it for some time before it squeaks when the tyres are turning. I’ve taken it to my mechanic who was trying to diagnose it with the car on the hoist when he also noticed there was a leak in the transfer case seal with oil slowly dripping out. Could it be the seal that’s causing the squeak and also leaking the oil?
Thanks for sharing. Been trying to solve this one for a while now and recently changed the exhaust gasket (and still have squeak). For parts did you only order the 33309-35113 flange sub-assy out? Or did you also change the oil seal at the same time? If so, please advise part number for a 2011 150 Prado. Many thanks.
Thanks for sharing the info, and other garage workings. Yes be interesting to see more of I didn't fix but an associate of mine did. Each to there own expertise but still good to point in right direction 👍.
Yo I've had this issue on a prado I've recently bought, same story. Starts making a metal on metal squeaking nose after about 30mins of driving/when everything's nice and warm. How big is the job to get this sorted?
We had something very similar took it to Toyota many times they couldn’t find anything I end up tracing it to left hand side cv at the diff I sprayed some lithiam grease in and around the diff seal n no more bloody squeaky squeak
An annoying squeak that a lot of our mine site Hilux's seem to get is always from the front left wheel. I'm guessing it's a similar sealin there somewhere, but strange that is always on the left.
My 150 was making the squeak, after a lot of mucking about I found it was coming from where the drive shafts meet the center diff. I just sprayed WD40 between the drive shaft and the coupling. There is a very tight clearance and I guess I had some dirt in there.
I have a loud squeal from my 2012 hilux, I have had it on blocks but it does not make noise on blocks, I think it is the heat that is the key as you have to get it hot to make the squeal then you stop at lights and it goes away from that short stop, there is no change with brakes or park brake but it comes and goes with throttle and only from about 15 to 50 ks
I have the exact same issue, have you fixed it yet ? I changed the flange gasket in the exhaust as seen in some of the other videos thinking it’s fixed but no luck.
Had a squeaky noise coming from my drivers front wheel for ages and couldn’t work out what it was. Replaced the bearings through normal wear and noticed that where the CV seals on the bearing assembly, the lip was a bit bent and touching the hub 🤦🏻♂️
I changed this in mine 3 weeks ago after $1100 chasing it...CV joints, uni joints, brakepads, rotors all kinds of things. And it was this exact $24.50 seal that presses into the transfer box that was the culprit. 40mins of driving b4 it happened and wouldnt go away after that. If you want to change the flange side of the seal its $240 because they are genuine only and don't sell it as a seperate seal. Now my front wheel bearings are going 🙄 if its not one thing its another.
I’m have this same Squeaky noise after 30 to 40 minutes drive with my Toyota prado 2014. Please help me I already spend a lot of money changing part that wasn’t ready to change and I have the same problem Squeak noise .. please help? How to fix what should I change
Great stuff, am looking forward to solving the squeak / squeal on mine, i'll now look at the transfer, cheers! The sound mine is having. 30+ min trip - ua-cam.com/video/qVN5toAkwRM/v-deo.html 60+ min trip - ua-cam.com/video/A-NODNezrA8/v-deo.html

I had the exact same problem 12 months ago took me weeks to figure it out was a simple fix in the end. Love your work.
How did you fix yours?

😮 so it's the the jack shaft to the front diff, not the tail shaft to the rear right?
Do you use Toyota 75w synthetic LF transfer case fluid or an alternative which I don´t think exists?
Good video.Thanks mate!👍

Was the noise there always or could it be made happen when steering ?

Hi Shane, can you provide a link for the seal you purchased? Cheers.
What is the parts number for the seal you buy. Please help
