The Beneficial AI 2017 Conference: In our sequel to the 2015 Puerto Rico AI conference, we brought together an amazing group of AI researchers from academia and industry, and thought leaders in economics, law, ethics, and philosophy for five days dedicated to beneficial AI. We hosted a two-day workshop for our grant recipients and followed that with a 2.5-day conference, in which people from various AI-related fields hashed out opportunities and challenges related to the future of AI and steps we can take to ensure that the technology is beneficial.

I think people underestimate the aversion that many ACTUALLY feel towards equality.
Sure they love to talk about equality for all and we are all wroth the same and yada yada. But at the end of the day do you think all these entrepreneurs and academics want to rub shoulders with the common riff raff? Absolutely not.
It's not even about paying higher taxes or or that it will cause "lack of incentives" or whatever. At least I don't think so. I think it's more the idea that higher social status markers will become worth less that scares the hell out of a lot of high performers.
Especially for older men social status markers such as PhDs, prizes, knighthoods, higher salary whatever it may be is fundamentally important to their self image. Take that away from them and theyre just another old ugly guy basically whos best years are behind them.
A lot of these guys probably realise that the alternative to UBI is that 90% of the worlds population will have to starve to death, and they silently accept that.
the accelerated development of disruptive technologies makes it difficult to predict the challenges never mind prepare people for a change around every corner. at some point peoples skills will be obsolete before they are trained.
What should the future use of THAT BUILDING be useful for that county to help that county want from the people of that current county?

Yes "nastiness" is getting worse just look at the suicide rate. Look at the actual quality of life/living being done on average. We are living in a technological prison sure the top 5% are doing just fine while pretending that their life style isn't truly resting on everyone else having no real choices what so ever. I hope the people on the panel think long & hard about the nature of reality & the fact that data cannot truly be destroyed. Don't let the lack of violence in society lull you to sleep(give you a false sense of security people are far better at compounding interest than you realize this is obvious) or your dream will turn to nightmare.
