I played Genshin the day it came out, and took a break when I finished everything available. I expected to come back around the time Inazuma started, but the break lasted longer, and I only got back when Inamuza was entirely finished. That turned out to be an incredible experience as I got to explore the whole region at my own pace instead of being dripfed parts of it at a time. I took a few more breaks here and there but finished Sumeru, and decided explicitly not to visit Fontaine until every part of it was released. Now that Natlan has just started, I'm just about ready to begin my Fontaine journey unencumbered
I love this so much - I totally agree, it's been a wonderful way to experience Genshin (and Honkai Impact 3rd omg) for me so far! Glad you've found a way to play which works well for you and your enjoyment of the games :D
Happened to me. I can’t stop playing 🤣. I play hsr and zzz. I’m caught up on hsr and zzz, but I still do dailies and events when they pop up. I think it filled a void though. I played so many and finished so many games I did not enjoy, because I spent money on them lol. I was looking at my list of games depressed because I knew I bought too many and would not find the time. Now I just wishlist everything and delete from list when I no longer have the want to buy or play them. Keeps me in check like I own the games just haven’t got to them yet.
Hi Amy, it's me Lil' Cass from Second Wind; While I no longer play live service games thanks to TUNIC, I still understand the appeal of them thanks to having played Brawlhalla, Destiny 2, and Crash Team Rumble! Heck I even tried playing Genshin Impact expecting to hate it but I ended up liking what little I played of it so I understand, I have lots of singleplayer games I wanna play too😅
So many hours of Destiny.... so many experiences that can't be recreated because of sunsetting and vaulting.... so much mismanagement.... Bungie broke my heart, I don't know if I'll ever live-service again.
The first time I watched an Amy stream I was like, "no way she's doing this for fun. It has to be for the views". Then she goes an makes an entire video about how much she loves gatcha games and isn't backing down. Damn!
Omg Amy I’m such a ditz 🤦♀️ this has been showing up in my feed for two days and I just didn’t recognize it was you! 😂I am part blonde, apologies. Great Vid! Love getting your take on gaming 💜☺️
All the games I love are dying 😭 both Mirrorverse and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp are shutting down by the end of this year (Pocket camp is releasing a "complete" version of the app game but it wont be the same) I feel cursed sometimes.
The thing that usually helps me quit a live-service game after realizing that I've been hooked on it for months on end is the very idea that what I'm playing is live-service. A story that is kept never ending is always subject for change, sometimes for the better, but mostly for the worse. It's the understanding that nothing is sacred for the corpos that keeps my liking of an universe from turning into love. I'm an ex League player and Arcane is probably my favourite show of all time. I didn't get into season 2 yet because I wanna take it slow so that might be subject to change but regardless of what what will happen, after this particular League show is done, the next one will most likely take place in Ionia. Unless we're talking about Jhin, I don't really care about that area or it's characters. I also don't really like the fact that after making Arcane canon, Riot decided to fire the entire lore team because what good are they if the lore is going to be made by the film makers, right? The awesomeness of Arcane rests on the shoulders of that old, established lore and I feel like future shows will suffer in quality because of this blunder. So... I prefer my things to be finite if I'm going to allow myself a strong attachment.
That is a totally fair feeling with a lot of the big teams that have unfortunate, big corporate interest. It's a rough thing to go through, as a player and a dev!
If I were to choose only one live service that I would like to return its Path of Exile, there is no fomo at all (in the sense of there is no featured banner at all) and there is only quarterly patch. I used to play gacha starting from Gun Girlz around 10 years ago and recently I have quit all gacha games with Tower of Fantasy as my very last gacha game to be played. Now I mostly only play single player games, majority of them are indies and AA.
@eleongo this is so cool and I was just thinking about the no fomo in PoE myself. Good on you for getting off that grind, I imagine I'll be like you one day soon!
Great vid Amy :)
Thank you
even without any live service games i'm still drowning in titles i desperately want to experience but haven't gotten around to 😥
I should make a video about all the single player games on my list I am drowning in wanting to play lmao - then we could commiserate together ahaha!
@@sassqueenamya love letter to the ones that got away! I adore that idea
That's why rougelike elements for games just rocks. Because it keeps the game fresh for like 2 years even if its a solo game mode.
Such a great genre! Just don't let me get into too many of them, otherwise I will have no time left for anything haha!
Welcome to the club Amy.

Amy with the Gamey Goodness
FOMO killed my entire family and caused global warming :(
we are doomed to obey our FOMO overlords

Super tough to balance everything I want to play atm
Too many damn good games omg
Based on your description, live service games appear to be the video game equivalent of a soap opera. Comfy and airing regularly.
This was me with World of Warcraft. I basically played nothing else for ~7 years.
That is commitment omg
@@sassqueenamy Best value gaming I ever had ;p

Bungie has been a rough and sad one to watch - definitely understand how that can hurt

We don't stream gacha for the views, it's a way of life *coolcryemoji*
