I just loaded up UA-cam on my Television to chill for the night, and this was first in my Recommended list. Good stuff. Nice and easy combo mechanic. Clean Event Sheet as well. Thanks for this. I actually have never used that timer behavior. I always did a combo of variables and wait timers. The timer behavior will make things so much easier. I really need to take a day and look through every behavior, and read the documentation on anything I haven't put to use yet. P.S. - I haven't forgotten about that one object game challenge. I gave myself the day off of my computer completely after taking part in the Ludum Dare for three days. I saw in the latest beta, Scirra fixed the Animations Editor. It would constantly move around image points, and collision boxes would go back to original. It would cause me so much trouble. I'm going to test it thoroughly tomorrow. If it's fixed, it'll save so much time.
Hey buddy. Thanks for watching. I used to use the wait action a lot (I still do) but I find the timer quite a lot better for certain things. I was thinking of taking part in LD50 but I simply couldn't commit the time 🤷♂️
@@XanderwoodGameDev It's definitely a large time investment. I'm still catching up on sleep after the event haha. Sort of reminds me of the alarms in GameMaker. But, rather than checking to see if an alarm ended. This checks to see if a timer is still running.

Hi Xander, really great video! Just curious if this would be a lot harder to adapt for a mobile game with a touch Attack Button being pressed instead of the Space Key. Thanks!
I'm using button combos in a game I'm making right now, devlogs are being released, my last video 'add combos' shows a slightly different way of doing things.
@@XanderwoodGameDev can you help me . i mean back in 2018 or so i was trying to create a point and click game like say monkey island . but i didnt get how to make a constrain movement i was also gonna ask if someone can help me understand how all the rex plugins work because there are no videos on theme . he did make a random Dungan generator too
Hi, Thanks for this tutorial! But I had one problem with it. In my game, I have hold attack animation (when player pushed button, but didn't release). So attack animation plays, when player realese button. So in my case combo starts after second button release. And when player click many times in a row, it just repeating start of second attack animation, ignoring first attack animation. Any thought how to resolve this?
@@XanderwoodGameDev when player hold button - he's doing charge attack (by your tutorial too), if he release button once without holding - it's default attack, and if he's click two times fast - it's combo attack. Right now he can hold (without charge), and do a default attack. But if I click many times for the combo - he just gets stuck in the combo animation.
wow nice vid! but i need something like auto combat (lineage2r or ragnarok x gen) so we just press auto button then player will hunt monster continuously. there is no tutorial about it can u make 1? will appreciate
@@XanderwoodGameDev its like mmorpg on pc but with auto battle feature. U can see on my channel all mobile games is like that. Just want to know how the combat system work on construct 3. There's 1 button called auto and list of monsters around then Player going to monsters, kill them then search a new one.. enemy will spawn again later

I think it would be the same. Just replace space with on tap.

What are you trying to make happen? A button combo when holding down a button?

this is exacly what I needed but there one tiny issue, i'm using construct 2 and there's no "is timer running", is there any alternative I could try?
i'm here to reply myself, I used the signal system action instead of timer, it works the same way
