I assume they're working on more of a gen 7.5 than a gen 8. They have been teasing a new engine for years. They could change to a more moderate engine (possibly even with hybrid component) and make aero updates as a mid-gen refresh. I could see this all coinciding with a new manufacturer coming in.
The fix is HP, under body fixed dirty air a bit, but without the skill point of HP it's just making driving too damn easy this aero block becomes the only tool
@@allston516 if that is what he meant I think that would be dope, I love the gen 6 but I also love how the gen 7 sorta resembles a GT3 car, to me I think the best idea would be to take the current car, lengthen the wheelbase and lower the dependency of rear down force with the spoiler and diffuser
@@miketwotwenty My brother in Christ, the CoT is literally just a reskinned and overbuilt Gen 4 car. Look under the sheet metal. There's a reason why people say all of the safety modifications could have been implemented into those cars. The real issue is a matter of manufacturer and regulatory politics, and the miserable state of the auto industry in general.
There are some changes they could make, but there are inherent issue with the chassis itself that leaks over into the aero which just cmpounds the problems.
More horsepower would definitely help a large portion of the problems, but with how they've built this car, its created so much downforce that you can only do so much without making a new one
Gen 7 has been a colossal FAILURE! All we need is a simple tube frame chassis with NONE of the aero or suspension of Gen 7, removal of the transaxle and go back to a 4 speed H pattern, get rid of the undertray and diffuser, and move the damn numbers back! As for rules package on all non superspeedways 750 min HP and 4 inch spoiler, and the 2020-21 short track package...this car is WORSE than the 550 package and I WILL NOT shut up about it until they go back to a traditional Cup car! And I'll bitch and moan about Gen 8 too if they fuck it up! As long as short tracks and road courses are good again I don't care 1.5s are watchable never even liked those tracks much as a kid! If Gen 8 is good on short tracks for the love of Dale DON'T complain about them if they suck on 1.5s or we'll get stuck with something as awful as Gen 7 again! Just tell NASCAR we want more 1.5s they never listen to fans anyway they'll say fans want more 1.5s, here's 5 more short tracks and 3 new road courses!
I don’t think the next gen is that bad for a spec race car. We can talk about aerodynamics all we want but I guarantee that if we had a tire war, chassis supplier war, and open engine regs, this current generation car would age beautifully and thus give me hope on the gen 8 car. But if we go from one spec to another, you’re just gonna find different issues that is the same magnitude as the current car.
Is NASCAR Already Working On The Gen-8 Car? Uh, No. Go Back To The Gen-6 Car With The Numbers On The Middle Of The Door, Rather Than The Next-Gen Car, With The Numbers Slid Across The Door, Along With The Sponsors. But, From The Next-Gen Car, Have The Rounded Rrear Bumper, Along With The Quarterpanels, With Less Sideforce, And Put It On The Back Of The Gen-6 Car, To ACTUALITY Look Like The Cars From The Streets, For New Manufacturers To Join NASCAR.
You call it aero blocking in reality the cars have rear facing cameras with a screen mounted in the dash and the drivers use it to block . Like mirror driving
Are they really building another car? The Steve's are just as dumb as Brian France. This lawsuit is going to end badly for both parties. This back and forth is getting uglier as time goes on.
The Steves are worse! At least in the COT era they made MASSIVE changes not just adjusting spoiler heights and saying well we did something by the end of the COT it was a great race car...they won't even admit the hideous number location was a mistake and put it back where it belongs!
Well it's a failure...all they got to do is strip as much areo off it for 2025 and run Xfinity cars with 750 HP for 2026 but that's too simple...I've been losing interest since the flaws started really showing on this car, it's NOT a good race car!
I would really like to see NASCAR go away and a new series get started some how that will be fare to the team's and stop all the bullshit . NASCAR really getting to suck.
Agreed! NASCAR would lose most fans except new fans who don't know better if a new stock car league comes along and does everything right like NASCAR used to do...IF they make it accessible and don't put it behind a paywall like Flo Racing...otherwise it would be dead on arrival.
I would love to see a modern day gen-4 type car. Horsepower, track packages, component wise. You could find a way to blend old with new to make something great. Honestly I for the life of me HATE the next-gen car. Gen 4, COT, and gen 6 from 2013-2017 (maybe 2018) was a blast to watch. Granted some years were not perfect but it was not this lame snooze fest from 2018 to now.
I'd agree, he doesn't come off as a butt kisser or shill who simps for crap, he's actually called NASCAR out it took YEARS for Estepp to even criticize NASCAR at all when there's probably a decade of people on UA-cam not happy with the direction NASCAR is headed in...I was honestly pretty happy with NASCAR until late 2022.
Are they really gonna work on the Gen 8 if it comes out? Let's be honest here, whenever NASCAR says something that they're gonna do, that usually means they're not actually going to do that specific task.
This will be the 4th season with the Next Gen (Gen 7) car, and Steve Phelps and the rest of the idiots are looking into a Gen 8 car. Steve Phelps and his goons do not care about Nascar as a whole (drivers, teams, owners, and the fans), what they do care about is what goes into their pocket. Charters are a cash grab for them and the price of just a single charter is proof. They use the playoff format to sell more tickets which is why they won't change it. Remember the Next Crash test at Talladega that they claim the car passed. When it actually failed miserably, and the test dummy was used to detect any potential injuries to a driver in a crash which the result of the crash was the dummy had been fatally injured. Despite that the car was still used in 2022, which the body of the car was so strong that the drivers took the majority of the impact. Leading up to Pocono the drivers were complaining about how much the impacts hurt, Steve Phelps didn't care. Then Pocono that year Kurt Busch sustain an concussion which lead him to have to sit out the rest of the season and ultimately ended his career. Alex Bowman hit the wall at the playoff race at Texas and it wasn't an extremely hard hit but he took so much of the impact he thought he was done for the day. He sustained an concussion and sat out 5 races which caused him to be eliminated from the playoffs. No attempt was made to fix the car until that off-season before the 2023 season. Noah Gragson sustained an concussion in 2023 at gateway which caused him to sit out a race. No attempt was made to at least look into the issue with the car until later. Steve Phelps and his goons have turned the sport we love into a crapshoot. They made Nascar into Nascare (National Association of Stock Car Racing & Entertainment). Sorry about the long rant it just needed to be said.
I agree but we have GOT TO get rid of Gen 7 and go back to a more traditional "stock car" for Gen 8 the longer these shit box sports cars are circling tracks the less and less I care about NASCAR...this new car is my number 1 complaint about current NASCAR.
