I want to say thank you jake for all you do in inspiration in pokemon collecting and your passion when collecting. I got back into collecting last year because of you. I have not looked back and I love and care for ever card I have collected. I am a loner right now and dont have many friends and pokemon has given me new life. This is one of my favorite pokemon channels because there is nothing but positive energy when talking pokemon. Thank you for changing my life for the better. Thank For giving me hope.
I can add a remark for french market, very very strong market, usually you can say that it’s 25%more expensive for any product compare to english. Large base of collector, less reprint compare to english, french market is probably number 3 or 4 markets behind english japanese and chinese. Price grow up a lot quicker. You can’t compare any other market in ter of growth value
As a 36 yr old collector, I'm hoping the base set 1st edition zard dips so I can buy one in a psa 8. Psa 9s are currently selling at 20k to 22k usd, which doesn't surprise me, of course but I hope they dip further, which I kinda doubt haha. Good video man.
I’m going to look at your collection on Collectr. I know you have shown us a few items over the last year but it would be cool to see the type of collection you hav acquired.
Yeah, I don't horde. I'm collecting to display as well because it looks like a great piece to show off. I am considering selling as well that's why I usually buy 2-3 boxes in case one of the sets pops off like Evo Skies so I can sell if I need the money.
As a vintage collector, I agree with your thoughts about the declining vintage prices (no one has a crystal ball but sounds about right). Vintage in general has been on a decline since the covid boom, and we'll most likely never see such a boom ever again with collectibles. This has been favorable for me as I can pick them up at continuously decreasing prices over the last 3 years. Many people collecting vintage are those who grew up with pokemon in the 90s (like me) or early 2000s. Every year, I see vintage collectors slowly losing interest in vintage/collectibles because these collectors are typically 30+ and are starting to get married, buy homes, have kids, and so on. There are responsibilities as we get older and collectibles get lower on the priority list. Also, so many of the younger generation I've talked to in the community were born literally after base set 2 came out. They don't have a connection with the OG vintage and don't care that much about it. The only vintage I can see that may raise/keep in value is the first edition PSA10 holos as they have insanely low pops and are the OGs of the OGs. Jake, just like what you said: I love all my cards, but its all sellable. My family (ex. my wife, my parents, inlaws..etc), and health all take precedent over cardboard. I'd sell it all in times of need if required and never think about it again. I also feel every month, I'm putting less and less money into pokemon investments, and putting more and more money into stocks, ETFs, bonds, HYSA, and so on.
well such a boom prob not but calling them dead is another thing... a psa8 zard is still like 11-12k lol look at skyridge zard going back up too... ofc wont have that 2000% increase in a year but will prob do well long term, more than modern imo... a skyridge zard ia in the few hundreds pops... give another 5 years the moonbreon will be at 20k psa10 lol and prob a total of 100 000 worldwide sealed included, meanwhile modern tha tis way too much over printed will keep stacking era after eras and will dillute hard the price of sword and shield imo, like peoples are n the hobby for about 3 years and are all calling vintage out XD , but take just 10 years and it was by far the most profitable play, you have nostalgia nomics talking shit about vintage but the dude came back in 2010-2011 and really didnt make it nowhere close to just the avg collector that was in vintage in 2010-2011 lol and hes with a investor mindset... let me ask you this: the hobby grew by 100 000% in 1 year when it became valuable, that prob, hobby was prob 1% in 2019 compared of what we were are now, dyou think those peoples really care about pokemon?id say yea a few are but most are into it because of the $ attached to it, so do they really care about vintage or modern? they care about what is hot now, look of fast the hobby is shifting its because the majority are sheep that follow the money. and yes a 2000% boom on every vintage will take a few year to correct, and low pops have more chance for slow and healthy grow
I horde a bit, and I do display my products also. It's because I have no more room for display purpose so into the closet it goes. Also knowing you have some desirable products (ES) is good for long term anyway.
Amazing collection jake. That crystal charizard is my goal for charizard. I don't have any other than celebrations PSA 9 that just came from psa. I hoped for 10 after pulling it but they gave it 9. Definitelly i am going to sell it one day and get that crystal skyridge one
I think people collect vintage for sentimental value. If that's not there, then the market will dip like it is now because there were so many people collecting for profit.
If you like it, sure. No one else can really dictate the terms of your collection, if you really like the art and you don't care about not being able to read the card, then grab it buddy! Good luck!
hard disagree with your take on old vintage. i think base set is base set is base set. it, and most of the other wotc sets, got way overblown during covid and are correctly cooling down now, but we are still wayyyy over the prices we saw in the mid-late 2010s. it will take some time for people who are joining the hobby now, but being the "first" of something will always hold a high premium no matter what hobby. now, thats not to say that it will be a good investment year to year like modern, but more that it will be one of the best on a decade by decade basis.
I appreciate the down to earth videos, at the end of the day, this is a hobby that we do for fun.

I really love the 2013 7-11 Eevee/Pikachu japanese promo

Pull rates for SV were the same until after Obsidean Flames, just FYI. Paradox Rift is where you basically weren't guaranteed an SAR or gold in a box.
lol best highlights from the video, the fun uncle and banger outro 🤣

My favorite kind of video! just Q & A =) please more of that, so interesting!

I think the Collectr app is good with raw card, but the grade cards are way off. Any thought on that issue?
This outro music is on another level

I’ve heard the Korean one doesn’t look as nice as English or Japanese. Never seen a Korean one in person tho
If you like it, sure. No one else can really dictate the terms of your collection, if you really like the art and you don't care about not being able to read the card, then grab it buddy! Good luck!

Skips the opportunity to educate about lenticular Deoxys
The question was too vague to know what the asker wanted to know, so Jake wasn't even sure what they were asking.
And….skips the opportunity to educate about lenticular Deoxys
@@karmacutioner1 yes, I am aware of your point, but thanks for being condescending instead of continuing the conversation I added to in good faith.
Hey Jake!
