I've said it before but GOG's hands are tied when it comes to making these ports. They have to use the code they are provide and any changes have to be approved by the IP holders.
GOG's version is the cheapest, legal version of the game you can play.
The most they can do, after the companies allows them to re-release the games, is making them in modern systems...GOG cant make remasters, nor would they cost 8 bucks if they were going to make them.
On the other hand, "preservation" mean PRESERVING the original game, a remaster is not preserving the game and the intended experience.
Hopefully this will move Capcom to remake these games.
What makes you think that? So GOG was like "We would like to add the T-Rex's roar back" and Capcom was like "No, we won't allow that. We want the T-Rex to yawn on PC." GOG eventually added back missing music in Resident Evil 2, and they released Dino Crisis 1 with fixed character models, after people were complaining about the wobbly models in Resident Evil 3.

@@Jose-se9pu Should we consider these famously janky old Windows ports of console games the "intended experience" though? I'm not hating on GOG, but PC ports of Japanese console games used to be pretty terrible until fairly recently and I'm not sure if those experiences need to be preserved as they were since they were compromised from the start.
The PlayStation Plus version and the GOG version of Dino Crisis have slight graphical differences. The PS Plus version is an emulation of the original PlayStation release, featuring custom video filters and a rewind function while maintaining the classic look and feel. Great video bawk, I really like the comparison between the two versions. Hopefully they fix the audio issues but at the very least im glad people can now experience Dino Crisis 1 and 2 preserved on GOG
Just sail the high seas for these, guys and use mods. It is nice GOG is putting in work to help preserve them for now, but also remember that GOG does not own the rights whatsoever. At any point *if* Capcom wanted to pull them down off GOG to create its own collection of RE1/2/3 for $60, or DC1/2 for $60 (or not even, just if they wanted to pull them down), then they can do so and GOG can do nothing about it.
I'd spend money to own the PC versions physically, but no shot I'm paying anything more than 99p for a digital copy of a 20+ year old PC port.
These is why companies dont botter to re-release these games, "gamers" will find any reason to complain...the 25 years game doesnt have upgrades? complain, the 25 years old game has upgrades, complain...
GOG are only ones putting money and effort on PRESERVING games, the games "gamers" keep begging to be re-released, only for them to complain about anything...
more than 20 years and dinocris 2 hasnt gotten a remaster, there's a guy that's doing one on his own tho. work in progress but it pretty good so far.
I bought the ox bundle because we have to send a message to Capcom that we went the IP to come back in a new game, and money is the only language they understand.

Do people really think the graphics are better on the PC version? The pre rendered backgrounds are basically the same, just stretched widescreen so things like the trees and ladders and everything are hilariously wide. The characters also feel more like they belong in the scenes on PS1, the "updated" models look so out of place all the time, and I just noticed the PC version doesn't even a shadow on the guy or dinos
Yeah you're 100 percent right on this. Sometimes being technically better in terms of graphic fidelity doesn't necessarily mean you have better image quality. The new game looks like a unity asset flip with the jarring difference.
You are not forced to play it stretched on PC. You can set the resolution to the correct aspect ratio. I rather take clean, high resolution character models over the pixelated wobbly PS1 models any day, even if it doesn't fully match with the backgrounds. The PC version does have shadows, they are just not as noticeable in certain places because they are more sharp.

The first game had a better "remaster" treatment. That's a shame. I would rather play the SourceNext port and the Classic Rebirth patch.

The stretching is optional, you can keep the original aspect ratio if you want. Also the motion blur effect was trash in the PS1 to begin with, made every pixelated scene look even more pixelated. Also this is not a port made from the ground up, but a compatibility rework from the original PC port from 2002 which was worse than this one due to very bad framerate consistency (same with the original DC, RE2 and RE3 ports to PC).

Outbreak does not have a PC version. There is nothing to move.
These ports so far were all PC ports that are made compatible with modern Windowses.
Would be nice if someone made a real pc port of outbreak.
@@karpai5427 No native PC version doesn't necessarily mean it couldn't happen though. Nightdive proved that fact with Turok 3. Also the ports of numerous DS titles onto steam when no native pc port existed. Question would be, is there enough demand for Outbreak?
