Great video, funny and entertaining as usual and you do a great job with the book explanations. I liked the picture of the author doing a signing at Forbidden Planet. It’s a cool and very old comic store in NYC right across the street on Broadway from The Strand book store which is a very cool used book store with miles of shelves. Book buying geography for y’all if you’re ever in my city. ✌️

Thanks! I actually have a list going of bookstores in cities that are on my list to visit, so I'll definitely check it out when I'm in NY. Cheers!

Great channel, and your videos are very entertaining and funny. I was previously unfamiliar with Keith Roberts; this novel sounds right up my street. Will try and track down a copy. You might want to give John Wyndham a go sometime. Another British author, though from my memory, he doesn't indulge in quite as much British slang in his writing. DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS, THE MIDWICH CUCKOOS and THE KRAKEN WAITS are all well worth your time.

@jeffflugel7516 Thanks! Yeah, Roberts was very entertaining. I haven't read anything by Wyndham but I have heard about Day of the Triffids. He's added to my list! Cheers!

hey man, i popped over after you left a comment on one of my videos. this video is great! 100% subbed. sounds like you hit some west-country dialect which might cause me to trip over too. i was at a book fair yesterday and picked up a mint copy in that black Pan with the giant frickin wasp humping (or maybe stinging) its victim. well done on the edit, i have some insight into how much work that was, and you also kept your review moving along nicely, much more fluently than me. ok wait, that means you have to stop right now, no more videos for you, sunny Jim. 👍👍

LOL! Thanks. I do like that Pan cover, much more than the one I have. Give it a read, it's fun. One point I forgot to film was the end (NO SPOILERS) has some dangling plot threads that were handled in a way that I absolutely loved. Enjoy!

Wiltshire is a county, not a village. "That must have bin a do" = "That must have been quite some event" - "The winders bust in, see" = The widows smashed inwards, look" - "There were a gert crash" = There was a great crash" (possibly a loud noise, depending on context) - "Reckon I do a quiet reccy" = I think I'll do a quiet scouting mission" - (reccy shortened from reconnoiter) - I'm reminded of Kirk and Spock struggling with 30s terms like 'flop' and 'Clark Gable picture' in 'City on the Edge of Forever' You might like to try some Murray Leinster, maybe 'Space Gypsies' or 'Miners in the Sky'?

@portland-182 you need to stick around, especially next time I review a Keith Roberts! LOL! Thanks for the recommendations, I have tons of Leinster but I haven't reviewed him yet. I'll see if I have those books and put him on the list. Cheers!

@TheBookGraveyard Thanks, I appreciate it. Happy to meet another fan of forgotten literature. I see you review a bit of everything; subscribed! Eventually I'll dip my toes into Fantasy and Horror but there's so much Sci-fi that I'll be here for a while. Cheers and I'll see you around!
