Thanks Mark, It was just in the moment that I felt very down. New bars are on the bike & I'll give it a good wash & hopefully soon will be back out there again
yeah sounded pathetic but ever the UA-camr .... It was Youtubing that I was referring to but I was in pain and really down on myself after a rookie mistake!
Mate. I'm 52 and have had multiple broken ribs, broken collarbone, punctured lung. I've just realised that I need to slow down, I enjoy it just as much if not more because I'm not constantly injured. Not only that I'm not so much of a burden on my family as I am when I'm injured, just take it easy. All the best.
That was a great ride Dave, you jumped everything so clean and controlled, it was a joy to watch. But then one mistake and the impact was so hard. I'm very glad you didn't hurt yourself any worse mate. I hope you are fit again and back on the bike. Ride on and have a nice rest of the week🤙
Dont give up on riding, I know how you feel at the moment since im kinda going through the same thing with riding but I guess thats parts part of mountain biking, your such a good rider keep shredding those trails🤟
Cheers mate .... at the time i was feeling down & it was more about the YouTubing part of it as it makes me push myself and I'm in my 50's so at some point the age v's progression may tip the wrong way
Hey Dave, keep doing what you love. You are an inspiration to many. You made a mistake by not checking the line. If you checked you would have had an awesome session. Keep you head up and rest up
Don't give up Dave - hell of a hit - can relate to how you're feeling. Just give it time and don't force yourself to get back into it. The itch will come back naturally.
That was tough to watch mate. That's one for the Dirt Shed Show, Martyn will be laughing his arse off. I had the worst crash of my life last day of 2022, party trains with the boys. First trail of the day, distracted and 50m in on a small table I've hit countless times. Sent me to the moon way out to flat, total carnage. I was off riding for a long time, put on 10kg and didn't give a shit, was totally over it. Now I'm back full bottle with a new passion and approach and loving it.
I'm 61. I ride downhill (bike parks) all summer long. I keep my wheels on the ground. I know, not as thrilling, but a helluva lot safer. Don't quit, just adjust your style.
Thanks Rick. I was feeling down on myself for the rookie mistake I made but have got over that. It was more about giving up UA-cam. When you say ‘all summer’ leads me to think you are in the northern hemisphere as if you were in Australia you can ride all year long. Where are you watching from?
The States, Idaho, our (my brother and I) main bike parks are Big Sky Montana, Sun Valley Idaho, Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole both in Wyoming. There is some snow in most of these places now. We have a short 4 month season. I envy you guys being able to ride year-round.
@@rickb.1656 yes but in the height of summer you need to be out early before the heat kicks in. We have 2 ski resorts that are bike parks in the summer. Thredbo 6 hrs from me in Sydney and Mount Buller 9 hrs from me. I do prefer Mount Buller. Anyway thanks for reaching out I really appreciate your support and hopefully you will comment more often 🙏🏼

Thanks Haz… I was in a down mood and was actually talking about YouTubing but a few days after I’m keen to get out there and I won’t be stopping my UA-cam channel. 🙏🏼
Thanks 🙏🏼, but I’d prefer not to have big crashes as it hurts but I grateful that I seem to have the ability of walking away from them without big injuries
Damn! That hurt me more than you. I've gone blind into runs so often but have always got away with it. I always feel super down after an incident and wonder whether I should just give up, but once I'm back on the bike… it's an addiction.
Thats a step too far for your Ambassadorship Dave - Reckless. Glad you walked away from that, not everyone would have. And yes - see you ono the trails ✌️
Yeah not many knew. I wasn't sure I was going to put a video .... hoping to test the chest on the dj at a new bitumen pump track 5 minutes from home over the weekend to see where I'm at
Damn dude! That sounded nasty… nothing like being winded to the point you can only get a mouth full of air down at a time 🫣 Glad it wasn’t any worse! You were smashing the rest!
Mate I heard you hit and the sound you made after and had flash backs . I felt that , it was raw and real. The funny thing was your on trail commentary was calm and confident . I just didn’t see that coming at all. Is it worth it ? Mate injury and not age slowed me down but I hope you take your time making the decision and let the emotion of this crash subside before calling it. I can’t wait to see you riding again no matter what that looks like . Take care mate
Cheers Mick .... yeah the raw emotion an hour after the crash has subsided & am keen to get back out there once the body has healed up. Thanks for the msg as well buddy
That was a nasty one....hope you are okay. I love watching your videos and your progression. Super sick editing and riding skills. Hope you stay on two wheels. It would be a shame to see you not riding. Take care 🤙
Thanks Shelly 🙏🏼 …. I was feeling down as it was a big mistake to not look at the line. Don’t worry I’ll be on the trails soon enough and also up loading content 👍🏼

I wouldn’t have been surprised if you bent your forks on that one! Many years ago I bent the bars on a motocross bike when I rode over a berm, not knowing what was behind it I bailed mid air but landed on the side of the bike. Got about as winded as you sounded in this video but ended up being ok.
far out man that was a gnarly crash glad your alright after that one, think your chest was what bent those bars, could have easily been broken ribs from that impact hope your all good
getting there.... yeah just talking to a mate about it and I thought it was when the bars hit the back side of the lander but frame by frame shows it didn't. Cheers
Damn man, that was a hugey. Sounded like you got really winded, hopefully that's all though. As for "wondering if it's worth doing" , my personal opinion is that you've had a few stacks lately and maybe you're just feeling it. Lighten up on the "bigger" stuff and just ride some easy fun stuff... Kinda like I do 😂. But that's just my personal opinion. You're a great rider and very fit, I still look up to you 👍
The worst thing is that you were doing some of the best riding I've seen from you on that day. It wasn't a riding mistake but forgetting to scope it out. Maybe a new bike would help you get into it again!
It wasn’t a matter of taking the b line as there isn’t one. The mistake I made was not scoping the line and if I had I would’ve sessioned it if I thought I could do it or if I didn’t think I could do it would’ve gone a different trail … but that’s mountain biking. Thanks for your support 🤙🏼
That sound when you get so badly winded is the worst! The one solace I would take from this Dave is that you know exactly why it happened, and it wasn't because of your riding ability. It was just a poor decision that I'm sure you will never make again. It just sucks having to learn that lesson the hard way. Chin up bud!
