Love this old comedy with no filters just honest comedy, people are so touchy today, can't speak a sentence without pissing off 10 different groups of people
Wish we could laugh like we did back then.this man was a pure genius. I'm 60, and can't help singing Ernie, and just laughing. Rest in peace great man.
This man should be celebrated as the comic GENIUS he is. I grew up watching Benny Hill & so glad i did this man was simply a master of his craft & for those who don't know this: He was the 1st person ever to do & use split screens where you see five different characters at once & people rang up the bbc complaining of withcraft & the like. Never again will we see or be entertained by anyone with this much brilliance genius humour ability to script endless funny sketches. A true comedy legend.
My late Nana from Hong Kong absolutely loved this, couldnt stop laughing yet today the offended on other peoples behalf brigade would be all over it stating the disgusting casual racism. If a Cantonese granny didnt have a problem why should anyone else.
I think it is acceptable is that Chow Mein has the last laugh and is endearing. That's the brilliance of Benny Hill. Instead of making Chow Mein the butt of jokes and an utter fool, he one ups the pompous director (played by Henry McGee). I can understand why Nana would think it was funny.
Because While Leftists have taken it upon themselves to decide what is offensive and who should be offended by what. That's TRUE racism: Thinking you know better than the actual people who you claim should be offended.

Oh Benny, how you are missed. You still manage to make me laugh. your sketches are corny, but hilarious, the mark of a true entertainer. You are sadly missed.
God Benny! What talent! When i was a kid i loved Benny, but i was too young to understand that he was a friggin GENIUS!! Miss you Benny! Thanks for all the laughs!!
Benny's gags were amazing, especially the way everything works with misunderstandings and mishearings and puns. I remember loving this stuff when I was about 5 (though 90% of the jokes flew over my head, but then I came back to it and I can't get enough.
The sketch was just over 10 minutes long. Its just a bombardment of quips and funniness never to be repeated. " I bring up voice from my diagram". "You mean diaphragm?". " Yes do you need me draw you a diaphragm"......just the best.
Got to love Benny Hill. He took inspiration from so many sources but made the act his own. There's bits of Buddy Hackett, Tommy Cooper, Ken Dodd and Sandy Powell in this sketch (as well as big chunks of his previous Chow Mein material from earlier shows). RIP Benny :-)
Just recall as you watch this, that Benny Hill left no one out to poke fun at in his skits. I remember Benny portrayed Southern Whites as hillbillies, it was hysterical and I'm from the South.
The great thing about UA-cam is all this lasts forever. I had this show on a tape which was thrown out years ago. This stetch is one of my fav's. very very funny. Benny was my favourite comedian of all time. Will never be forgotton. And Mr. mcGee was a great support act, even though he had a lot of trouble not cracking up ! #whocouldblamehim
10 minutes of Benny Hill, is 1000 times funnier than any of the new acts, the new so called comedians, are not good enough even to tie Benny's shoelaces if he were still alive
phil, you are spot on. They cancelled his show when the humourless execs at Thames bowed to political correction, which by the late eighties was taking over everywhere. They told him his style of humour was obsolete, as if humour could be pigeon-holed.
If Benny were still here they would bow to his comedic genius and weep at their lack thereof. Modern comedians are so pathetically cowardly it's sickening.
Was lucky enough to be in the Benny Hill show audience in December 1988 at the Thames Television studios Teddington Lock. The man was a true star, doing most of the sketches he done in one take. After the show he shook hands with most of the audience, what a lovely, talented performer. I kept the ticket and would never sell it!
I bet this would be funny in chinese too. I mean, Benny Hill never had a bad bone in his body and there was no racism in his manner at all. But this was acceptible comedy at the time so he was selling his craft. Something he did better than anyone else at the time.
Some people don't find this funny, but there are lots that do. Everyone's got their own opinion. Personally, I loved Benny's work, and still do. This sketch makes me laugh so much that I roll around the floor, crying with laughter. No comedian in this PC world does that for me. I find them all dull and boring- no timing, no wit, no cleverness. Stand up comedy these days nearly always relies on profanities - and I can't see what's funny about that.
Rooster I have noticed most so called comedians rely on cheap laughs by swearing the louder and more often they swear the more laughs they get.Generally the audience that laugh at all this uncalled for swearing are pathetic morons like the so comedians their watcgķ
Funniest thing was expression on dummy's face after beer drinking attempt. It was almost human as if to say I didn't know he was going to go all the way with that. Ending based on old joke about ventriloquist booed off stage because he's useless. He does, but then dummy pokes head around curtain and says gollocks to audience.
ROFL! Dear Benny at his best!! And Henry McGee-so funny too-just a perfect foil for Benny's humour!! Just brilliant together, as all his co stars were :) Those were the good old days when you could laugh at anything and not fear reprisals from todays awful PC brigade. Will always have fond memories of Benny thanks to all who upload these gems of comedy genius. Thanks for posting!!
Benny Hill is still massively funnier than anything on tv now and he is still a genius. TV companies why waste your time producing rubbish no one wants.
The term political correctness has nothing to do with the behaviour of politicians However it is a term of abuse invented by right wing politicians to make fun of any opinions that they do not agree with
Such a classic with this british comedian! I love me some Benny Hill and I watched it ever since coming across it when it used to air on PBS back in my day. I think it even aired on the Comedy Channel before becoming Comedy Central. My sister used to say that when she would say with our grandparents and my granddad would watch it she thought "Oh my! Papa is watching some pretty adult stuff." Mostly cause of the woman in bikinis or their undergarments but it was back when she was little so she didn't understand it wasn't as bad.
I cannot believe the professional snowflakes have permitted this to be seen! I had a Chinese friend who cracked up every time he saw Mr Chow Mein. He said he was much more fun than Chairman Mao, lol
If Benny Hill had said that, you might think he was talking about gang shoes and letters! "The crip is not lacist at arr." Also, I am always a cowboy (ALWAYS) and I like to smoke Marlboros while watching the sunset. ('cause Britain has this thing with associating America with John Wayne films.) Somehow, there is a fine line with racist humor, and it's nice to see someone see the shock/comedic value in it. Not all comedy is squeaky clean!
In about 1978 I worked in London, just off of The Strand, where a theatrical agent had an office on the floor below ours. Benny was a client of theirs it seemed as my colleague and I shared a lift [elevator] with him to their offices. He was extremely shy, not at all this super confident persona who made us lol on so many occasions over the years
Sonic Duck are you that stupid or is it just an act? Politically and politicians are not the same thing. I don’t need to guess your are a white boy (kid) that don’t even dare to stand up to your own opinions you little pussy. No name and picture. That’s the sign of stupid scared racists.
The likes of Ben Elton and David Baddiel helped to finish off this genius. Neither of them were fit enough to wipe Benny's shoes.
How true...well said

This is a billion times better than stuff on telly nowadays .
A genius! Timeless, especially now in 2022!
Never enough credit for Henry McGee.
I know, the way he could keep a straight face even when Benny was trying to trip him up. Every comedian needs the straight man.
How Henry kept a straight face for most of the sketch...

Witchcraft?!
Benny Hill was the last person on TV to do a Chinese accent.
Since then, doing the Chinese accent has been forbidden but any other accent is allowed.
Refreshingly un-PC. Thank goodness.

Nice statement Dave, cheers 👍100%

Your comment made me curious to look up when the ozone layer hole was discovered, which was in 1985. So this couldn't have been from the 1970s.
He is the greatest, genius and late Benny Hill☮
Benny is 100 years old on 21/1/24.. We love and miss you Alfred Hawthorne Hill.❤💔
Benny Hill was actually very popular in China. Until recently he was one of the few Britons who attained name recognition among the Chinese.
