When I read "Grapes of wrath" Where Tom and al Joad repaired such an engine, I could not imagine that it is so difficult ! This is more complicated than a radio and electronics.
These DB engine were build as though they were for a HD truck... that crankshaft makes a model T look like the song " A piece of tin, a piece of board, put them together and you got a Ford". Looks to me Henry looked at production cost rather then listen to the Dodge Brothers telling him your T engine is way to weak!... so Henry went to the coat hanger crankshaft. And here we T owners are today still dealing with the 2 piece crankshaft club... hehehe
Fascinating, could not see the bearing repair in detail but could see the line boring afterwards. Never played with an engine of that age so not up to speed with the babbit processes. Fascinating watching though.
I'd like to see the bearing making process as well. I have a four cylinder 1938 banks air conditioning compressor that needs work. It ran beautifully from 1938 until 2014, then a company charged the system and ruined it. Sounds like it has rod knock now, and I'm pretty sure it uses babbit bearings. I've "made" bearings out of other bearing by trimming and hammering for emergencies, but I've never poured any...
I wish it would have been slowed a bit. The rabbit bearing process and the conrod process went so fast that there were too few pictures to catch what was happening. Thanks for showing what you did!
Hey, I LOVE This Restoration!! I just Restored My 1924 Dodge Brothers Sedan! The Engine Ran fine, But Would not pick up fuel into the Rebuilt Vacuum fuel pump! I pour more gas into the priming hole, It runs out! Everything is tight! And the Carburetor has to be about the HARDEST thing I have ever tried to adjust! What could be the problem? If I may ask? I have 8 other 1920`s Cars, All Run GREAT! But this one is real tricky!
Nice to see how you rebuild this engine. I just started to rebuild the engine of my one car 1917 4 cylinder. But the head has bin frozen. So I ask anyone if they know a cilinderhead that's for sale. Hope anyone can help me. I am living in the Netherlands and love the Dodge brother
I'm curious how this engine compares to the one Ford put in the model A (201 cubic inch). This one looks bigger and I realize its even older than the first Model A.
getting my 1928 Dodge Standard six to run again and I need to know the pattern for bolting down the cylinder head. and how much torque to use. any body out there know what the answer is? I can be back on the road in a week, looking forward to the day
Check with Tom Meyers Early Dodge Parts, 734-341-6139! If You have not yet! Yes 8 years to get a answer is awful! But if You are still in need, Better late than never!
Hello, can you please help me in restoring my DB 1926 touring convertible’s engine, i have restored rest of my engine but I couldn’t find its engine gaskit so can you please send me the photos of that if possible that I could have an idea of it
Beautiful machine shop you got there brother....and putting it to great use, i.e. keeping these great old American engines alive.

Beautiful
This guy can do it all...... and FAST!!!
This would’ve made an excellent multi-part series.
That's what I was thinking. Wish it was slowed down, with commentary. Especially when he's doing the bench work.
Making your own Babbitt bearings is awesome
Watching video at regular speed would be ffar more enjoyalbe and informative!
0.25 speed is as close to normal as I could get but it's much better

i'd love to see this in real time.
This engine was built during the Silent Film era. The block appears to be as large as an inline Dodge six would be in the mid 1930s
Now that's a machine shop. BTW, it'd be great to see the babbit-pouring at normal speed; that's a nearly lost art.

Now that is a timing chain.
very interesting , it would be better if one could slow down the speed on the video.
0.25 speed
Do you have any photographs showing the engine during the rebuild ? In particular the oil feed tube plugs and accessory internals?

Where can we find a replacement engine block for the 1921 touring car?
In need in Pasadena California 91107.
Just sayin👀
I have this same engine and I am looking for a rebuild on it. How much would you charge to do this?
Do you rebuild motors? I have a 1927 dodge brothers roadster. where do you get the parts to rebuild them?
Are making the bearing shells? Are these called "babbit" type shells?

Are rebuild kits available for the starter/generator and carb?

Meyers early dodge
I got tired just watchin' the guy run around. I hope you're paying him well. 16 minutes for a rebuild has to be a record.
0.25 speed
HORRIBLE VIDEO!!! I had to watch it at 0.25 speed to see what's happening
God for bid you get an earthquake while shaving that block!!
If it is possible to take a you phone number to connect with you to a group of cars I want you to put your magical touch
Man. Slow down. Your going to make a mistake.
O.25 speed
