Did the original umbrella hat not survive? I notice you are using a more expensive trekking umbrella in your new version. How has your design held up in windy conditions?
The very original umbrella hat was (a) too heavy and (b) the metal stretchers dug into one's scalp. The current design does hold up in windy conditions up to about 20 to 25 mph and gusting. It is not for 40 to 70 mph winds. I have some video of use on a windy day, but needless to say the audio is pretty bad. :)
