I'm really glad you mentioned Cole because man, his work in recent years ever since he's been allowed to let loose and actually call matches like, you know, a pro wrestling commentator, really shows just how much Vince McMahon cramped his style, which in turn caused him to be hated by large portions of the fans for most of his carreer for what it turns out wasn't his fault. I'm sure it must have paid well or else he would have left years ago but man, it must have been miserable at times to be puppetted by the wretched old pervert all the time.
He's also literally lost his hearing too, 65%!!! He has to wear these special hearing aids under his headset so he can hear

Thus 3MB is actually an incredible gimmick.

When I look at some of these gimmicks with fresh eyes, all clustered together around the same time in 2020/2021, it really does feel like some New Generation level stuff compared to what we have now

Ah yes, paying £100+ to go see WWE in the front row and having the fucking Cole Mine set up in front of you so you could only see the screens and the occasional glimpse of a wrestler if they happened to climb the nearest cornerpost. What a fun night that was. Totally worth the money.
Just want to put something out there about Michael Cole. It's almost sad that a real-life event (that being Jerry Lawler's heart attack on-air) turned him face. While yes, a sad moment for Cole and WWE, what would've happened had Lawler not had the heart attack. Would he still be a heel today or not? Also, I absolutely love his commentary with Pat McAfee, those two are so great!

What they did to Natalia still pisses me off! Same with Baron Corbin! I LOVED the lone wolf!
I gotta say I liked the Stardust gimmick and even if Cody hated it, he still gave it all he had. plus it gave us one of the best Celebrity matches with Stephen Amell
Honorable mention: Alexa Bliss from pixie cheerleader to goddess to spooky.
Her mean girl personal was much better than her Supernatural gimmick tho.
Stardust wasn't terrible. Cody not being happy with a midcard act that would never see the main event scene isn't the same as it being terrible.
Stardust was a horrible character on purpose. Cody made the best of it but Stardust was a “Vince fucking hates me” gimmick
Stardust was fun, I liked it, can understand why it depressed him, 'Stardust' isn't going to sell out arenas one day

It sounds daft but the only reason I cared much for Retribution was because it had Dio Maddin in the stable, loved watching him during his time in ROW especially when I first saw him in Two Best Friends Play.
Giving someone a gimmick of "you're short, lol!" is especially dumb in pro wrestling of all things. THat's right! You have a low centre of gravity which is actually a great thing for wrestling! You must be so embarassed!
All Drew needed was some thick beard 😂
3mb Drew is a complete 180 from what he is now. It’s actually hard to believe that they are the same person. The look, size, character is completely different

I kinda disagree about Cody. I actually really liked his "Dashing" era, and he honestly did really well with the Stardust gimmick too.
I love version one of "Dashing" Cody Rhodes' entrance theme "Smoke & Mirrors" from Summer 2010 to early 2011. "Woaaaaaaaaoh! You're only smoke and mirrors! Woaaaaaaaaoh! You're only smoke and mirrors tonight!"

Apollo Crews as a Nigerian Prince could actually work in NXT 2.0, especially if you pair him with Oba Femi. I also think Southern Bell Lacey Evans would've been better in NXT 2.0 as well, especially if she feuded with Fallon Henley like Tiffany Stratton did.

Becky was an awesome underdog babyface as the Lass kicker. She had that gimmick when she won the first Smackdown title and was super over. Are you thinking of the river dance gimmick on NXT?

The Stardust gimmick was naff definitely but the thing song Cody used during that gimmick was awesome

I honestly love that Michael Cole is finally being treated with respect. I honestly didnt like the way he announced, but since that was Vince, I feel bad for ever disliking him.

Natalya gets too much respect, there has never been a veteran on the roster who’s done less. Not one memorable gimmick, silent reactions heel or face, forgettable title reigns. When Bret returned in 2010 im convinced part of the deal was wwe could never fire natalya or she would’ve been released over 10 years ago. Her “putting over” talent doesn’t even have an impact as beating someone who’s done nothing for around 15 years doesn’t look like an achievement

I don't get the hatred for Stardust. I honestly feel people only say it was bad because Cody himself has repeatedly made fun of it. It sure as shit was way better than "Dashing" Cody Rhodes or "Our dads are famous" with Ted DiBiase Jr, that's for sure.
Cody Rhodes' tag team name with Ted Dibiase, Jr before aligning with Randy Orton in January 2009 was unofficially known as Team Priceless.

I will not have this Festus slander. It was an amazing gimmick. I love it, I miss it and I hope they do something similar with someone else. Hell, I remember the WWE game he appeared in even had the detail of having him wake up as the bell rang at the start of the match.
I enjoyed Jesse & Festus' entrance theme "Biscuits & Gravy." "Biscuits and gravy; made me a man; oh, biscuits and gravy; made me all that I am!"

It's a shame those gimmick changes haven't advanced any of their careers in terms of being champions at all. Also Michael Cole will always be a hack that gets way more credit than he deserves.
What? Drew became 3 time world champion and is feuding with cm punk, Cody beat roman reigns in the main event of WrestleMania. Chad gable will probably get the ic title soon before pursuing the world title. I can go on.
Also Michael Cole is great now. He earned the credit he gets. Also one of the hardest working people in this company. Hardly any off days
