The story line in this episode not only brings the reality of racism, but also the hatred of one set of humans against others. Why? I'm 73 years old and have never understood bigotry. I truly hope that one day (sadly not in my lifetime) people of all ethnicity, religion, creed, and colour, will learn to live together in peace, understanding and harmony as human beings, and not as separate entities.
Dick Sargent certainly lived up to his first name, and stunk. He was no replacement for Dick York, who was his polar opposite. Bewitched lost their way when he came on board. It also makes sense for him to be playing a klansman because he's so loathsome, even though ironically, he would probably be among the first to be knocked off by the even more despicable real ones.
No two ways about it, this episode is one of the most groundbreaking ones that they produced. However, I feel like the time has finally arrived to where we need to get rid of the Klan, regardless of the circumstances. Besides, my oldest son has a theory that the Klan was in part responsible for the death of Sheriff Buford Pusser of McNairy County, Tennessee, on whose life is based the 1970s movie trilogy known as “WALKING TALL”, which had Joe Don Baker in the lead role in the first installment. They obviously did it all because Pusser was one of the very first Southern law enforcement officers to hire African-American deputies.
They were real keen on social justice and the beginning of pc speech propaganda. Many shows through the 80's and early 90's had the same themes. Still this episode was well written and executed.
... and started people on the road to the hatred we have today. Hatred has no goal except to destroy the human race. Seems to be making pretty good headway right now. People can always justify their hatred.
I just love Pernell Roberts voice
Its so damn soothing! I crushed on him as a teen and that has not changed.

Thank you for posting this episode, one of my favorites.
Great episode! It was tough watching the kkk but it's a sickening reality.
Good show
Mary Wickes------WOW!
Bigotry only deserves being faced down. Been there done that several times in my past.
Can’t Gonzo tell that mr Lieberman is scared 😱 to death 💀???
Great episode. Special script
Noemia Felisbin Thanks for watching
Dick Sargent is best known for as the second Darren Stephens on bewitched
Thanks for posting. He looked familiar but I couldn't place him.
I couldn't stand Dick Sargent as Darrin Stevens.
There was only one Darrin, and that was Dick York.
Alex Palmer Tall and had a fussy voice
@@Lee-Darin They didn't want Dick York to leave, but he was in so much pain he couldn't continue.

""Smear & Fear "" ...that seems to be the technique in 2020 politics, the old clan motto seems to be kept going 🙄
The clan is very much alive sadly
Thank you for posting! Loved this series. Just curious, why are the opening and closing credits missing?
I wanted to know the same thing

@@ruthmaryrose It's sad but true
"PC speech propaganda?" What does that mean? It really is horrible being for social justice and that kind of decency, isn't it?

TRAPPER JOHN M.D. -Ep Hate is Enough -[Full Episode] 1981- Season 3 Episode 4
Thank you
Thanks for posting, but why is there a line through the year and the title?
Lieberman was also the name of the Jewish Nazi hunter played by Sir Lawrence Olivier in the movie "The Boys From Brazil".
I never knew that dick Sargent did an episode of trapper John MD with Pernell Roberts
Just curious.. I see no one on this show giving anything for pain.. 🤔
Morphine works wonders; so does diphenhydramine.
@@ModMokkaMatti Diphenhydramine for pain? Maybe to offset the histamine release from opioids, but it has no noticeable analgesic effects on its own.
The klan in California?
Debbie Yates I thought the klan have many chapters in America
Yes, Debbie.
