Weapons Of Warfare yeah haha. The animated series had best joker too. I’ll give heath this. Without him dark knight would have been more terrible and he did a great job being a different type of joker. I am just not a fan of dark knights joker. I like the Joker more traditional and more classy but crazy hahah

I like this sad clown direction they're going with. I love that he has to force himself to smile. At 1:50 he knows social dynamics call for him to laugh at the punchline of a joke, so he awkwardly tries to laugh, but you can tell it's completely fake by his shifty eyes.
I love that, instead of his mind just snapping, it seems like he is going through a gradual descent into madness, wich is far more interesting to witness. The trailer alone shows that he really takes his mother's words to heart and that due to his mental illness he really becomes obsessed with the idea that his purpose is to bring laughter and joy to the world. You can tell that it was the only concept he can identify with after his mental break. Also, considering their duality, the fact that he tries to put a smile on a young Bruce Wayne's face at 2:30 is genius!
Many actors can make you empathize with their roles but Joaquin Phoenix has this uncanny ability to make you feel an actual connection to his characters. Judging by the trailer, this movie has the potential to transcend the comic book movie genre.
Joaquin Phoenix is an Incredible Amazing actor ...he is going to hit this for a home run... Prepare to be Amazed

Thing is, the "one bad day" thing in "The Killing Joke" is the Joker's philosophy, NOT presented as objective truth; the story hammers this home with how much torture he puts Commissioner Gordon through, trying to make him snap, and FAILING. Batman even points out that maybe it's not the whole world that's like him, maybe it's the Joker himself; you also have "The Dark Knight" providing a contrast between Harvey Dent (who IS just one bad day from snapping, and does when it happens to him) and everyone else in Gotham (Batman, Gordon, the people on the ferries who can't kill each other...)
Thanks movie is for people that can relate to the joker which is depression, tragedy, loss, pain, and no hope. People who live happily thru life n feel like they're perfect yeah this isn't a movie for them

I wouldn't go that far saying it's only for those who have suffered. This movie looks like a phenomenal character piece on the Joker. I could see the director going for an anti-hero vibe here. Or at least one where we as the audience can relate the Joker character here to the people in our own lives.

The "coming out scene", I think the Joker thinks he's unleashing on the world what it deserves.
Honestly Jared Leto is a top actor. Even though the joker he was portraying wasn't appealing to most people and didn't have much on-screen time, hes not the one to blame here. It's the directors fault. Just go and see his performance in A Requiem For A Dream, for example. Again, they are both great actors, and im pretty sure if Jared got this role, he would still nail it.
Or mr.nobody, or dallas buyers club. He's gifted beyond comprehension.
I love that you guys immediately noticed what it clearly wants to be instead of saying, like a lot of reactors: "this isn't the comics, this is too dark, too weird, looks boring, etc". This is basically an Elseworlds story. Same character, different upbringing/era/situation/etc with no ties to any other iteration of the character.
This film is going to be a HARD R rating because of extreme violence
As a Fan of the Joker I really REALLY Love how they made this trailer and cannot wait for the Movie to come out..! I Also Love How they picked Joaquin Phoenix to play this Role..! Personally I Think that he was made to play this Role..! Heath gave us a phenomenal performance, one that was very hard to out top.! Also I think that if Jared Leto would of had more screen time, he would of also gave us an awesome Joker. What I think Jered Leto was trying to bring was The Very first Joker played by Cesar Romero who was like a Gangster Joker and a Comedian Villain at the same time, but because he didn’t have enough screen time, that really couldn’t allow him to bring that kind of Joker, also I think Jared would of brought us a great performance if he did have the screen time. Also Jack Nickelson brought us another great Joker with the catch phrase, “You ever dance with the Devil in a Pale moon light”, that one will also never be forgotten to this very day. But on another review, one that is missed by many, which I think is an Easter egg, is when Joaquin makes the kid smile, the kid is actually Bruce Wayne when he was a kid. In one of the Batman movies you see the same young Bruce dressed the same with the same haircut, but I will leave that for all to go and watch the Batman movies to find him in. Anyway Love the Reviews on Joaquin’s Joker, cause Joaquin is a Great Actor, And he really brought The Joker in this movie, and for great actors to always have a persona that’s always changing and keeping people guessing all the time, is what makes a Great Actor. And that is why Personally I think he is a Great Actor with all the movies he’s made throughout his entire career, and with this performance I really believe he has another OSCAR on the way..! Actually most people did not "hate" Jared Leto's Joker, as a matter of fact, Jared Leto is still the Joker in the DCEU.... this Joker movie is a stand alone movie, it exists outside of the DCEU

This is not a DCCU movie. This film is Rated R for graphic violence and adult language. Warner Bros finally thought outside the box and because a seriously game changer for the DC universe.

They should "shutter island" this movie, in the sense that this origin story it’s all him making it up. maybe the movie starts with him natarating his origin story to his therapist/us, then at the end it was all a lie, he kills the therapist escapes the hospital and kills bruce wayne parents.. BOOYA!

Jack Nicholson represented the 2nd incarnation of the joker. 1950 to I think the eighties. Ledger and Phoenix represent the first and 3rd incarnations 1940's to 50's and 80's to present.

This is 100% not a prequel to Heath ledger. That was a dark knight series. This is for jack Nicholson OR animated series joker prequel. It references the last laugh in the trailer. That’s not a dark knight book

So the Joker, or Arthur, was an okay guy...maybe with some mental instability or emotional problems, but then society pushes him over the edge.

I even skip wonder woman because i was pissed at DC but like this lady this trailer give me hope. Imagine another line of movies outside of the DCEU with low budget but amazing performance like this.
5:13 Jack Nicholson is the Joker. He captured perfectly the essence of the character. But this now might be a second great interpretation of the Joker.
Agree... Nicholson is my favourite, Ledger second, but I think Phoenix will deliver a better performance then them both.

This movie has it's own thing. If you wasn't looking at it like at comic book it be like What would happen if Mr.rogers flips out. The joker couldn't put a smile on his face so he had to paint one on.

Jerod acts good its in there the down fall of it is the script and joker looks instead of a obsessive sinister clown portrayal i can only see a crazy thug portrayal of joker and it is separate from comic book and animated joker compare to the first two movie joker and the late heath's joker along with the animated ones jerod joker is completely different im happy on this new joker of joaquin it may not be connected to dceu and a stand alone film his portrayal of joker is related to the comic book, and animated movies.

They didn't lose Superman Henry Cavill is still in the role and also jared Leto isn't done with his joker because he is set to be in the birds of prey movie (2020)
No he isn't "set". The joker isn't even listed in the cast and rumors of seeing a body double that appears to be his version of the joker "but not Leto cuz he apparently was out of the country at the time". If anything it will be a small moment and nothing more.

Yoooo', you didn't find Heath Ledger's Joker performance impressive?? man!... Maybe you just need to see that movie again or something. Is the most realistic Joker ever added into a real-life society (until we see Joaquin's performance in October because this thing smells like an Oscar nomination minimum). Nicholson's Joker was good but not even close to what the Joker represents, mainly because of the theme of the movie... Batman's movie in the '90s was kids-oriented, Heath's was put into a real-life context.

At roughly 6:27 she is correct, at least for me, Suicide Squad Joker was laughable in all the wrong ways. Jared Leto is perfect, in his look, as he presents himself, which is f'ing weird. And it is not the Joker imo.
