I agree with Piers. It would have been just as questionable if a male had his shirt mostly unbuttoned during an In Memoriam Tribute. It's not a matter of gender, it's about decorum.
Of course it is just a matter of good taste. All she is saying is look at me and oh, by the way some people died; sad. But being punished with cleveage? Can it be feminists have grown a sense of humour?
This is the point that so many feminists, with their narrow “women can do no wrong” mindset fail to grasp. Could you imagine an In Memoriam being read by Channing Tatum with his shirt open to the belly button? It would be just as classless as this was. But that’s what it does to you. Feminism, not even once.
+Brianna Shai, French Canadians I like your idea 🙂 they could always ship him to Alaska 😂 but I don't think even polar bears would eat him they have more taste than that....
Don't want to get into any arguments but Piers has a very valid point. Seems disrespectful not to dress for the occasion and the context. And if it isn't disrespectful, at the least, it is a very odd choice considering the context.
+Calvin J. Bushay Never said that. In general, she looks amazing and stunning. But consider the fact that she is wearing underwear to give a memorial speech. As I said above, consider it an odd choice if not a disrespectful one. But if she didn't have forethought to think, maybe, just maybe she will be drawing attention to herself when it is supposed to be a tribute to the memory of people we've lost, then the lack of forethought could be construed as a sign of disrespect. However, agree to disagree because I'm not here to change your mind. Even Mayim agreed that the nuance is an interesting one. Consider if a male presenter presented the In Memoriam segment whilst showing his boxers prominently peeking out of his pants.
It's only disrespectful if you consider cleavage or tits offensive. Most of the world does not. And what could possibly be more appropriate at something called the SAG awards than a pair of big, floppy tits. Sarandon's presentation only served to emphasize the humor inherent in the whole thing.
Look he has a point here. And to all the feminists who think that sending him pictures of your cleavage is somehow punishing him, thats just foolish. If feminists think this topic needs so much attention and publicity then thats just foolish behaviour. "Free the nipple" is all I hear even though we have many issues of equality much more important then this that need to be tackled first!
+Kartik Jain free the nipple of for first world feminist, because int he real world there are actually very important issues to address about sexism and discrimination.
+qwertyqwery5511 You just tried to make a point that it wasn't objectification by comparing women's breasts to food. You said men can objectify women, and that's wrong when a few sentences before you did just that. You also have made a point against men by suggesting they have no self control, and you're also assuming breasts are sexual in nature when they are not, just that society has made them so and some of us disagree.
Human Person Oh if only...do you think they have any more space in Des Moines' (Iowa) zoo? I know they already buy a lot of pigs in that state; one more sow shouldn't be an issue... www.agcensus.usda.gov/Publications/2012/Online_Resources/Highlights/Hog_and_Pig_Farming/
***** First of all I'd like to commend you on your incredibly pretentious selfies and profile pictures. The fact that you are so confident whilst man-pouting, in the snow, with a hairstyle reminiscent of 19th century Mormons...astounds me. You do you! _"There's nothing wrong with the way Susan dressed."_ What you meant to say was _'In my opinion - there was nothing wrong with the way Susan dressed._. It's hilarious that you would call someone else a _"cunt like him(Piers Morgan)"_, for having an opinion that differs from yours, when Piers Morgan is infamous for doing precisely the same thing on his shows... I and 44 others (so far, and at least) believed that her dress sense was a little tacky for an _In Memoriam_ section; just as it would be tacky if a man were doing it, whilst displaying his hairy chest for all to see. You don't have to agree with me, but you have to respect my right to an opinion - whether you like it or not. I thought she looked hot, really hot...which is why it was inappropriate. I've never seen anyone dress like that at a funeral, or a memorial service, and so the same should apply here - at least as far as I am concerned.
I think this is hypocritical of her when she pushes her Jewish faith and modesty because of it so much! She's the one that believes burkinis for reasons that she believes women should dress modestly! And if I were a person following her beliefs, I would think this doesn't match what she is pushing just saying hate hypocrites!
I agree and even if it was just a show and not really showing her breasts, it still gives the wrong message as her position as a public speaker for observant Judaism and modesty. I'm saying observant, because if you are a secular Jew, you can be just like everyone else without the constraints of the Torah or Talmucic tradition. It just shows the hypocrisy of Hollywood really. I don't think she should be publicly lambasted for this, but it should certainly receive discussion on her role and raise a few eyebrows. If she from the beginning had made clear that she is first a feminist and second an observant Jew who believes in the intimate sanctity of marriage, I don't feel like it would be such an issue. She could always say that she's observant to the limits allowed by her feminism or feminist views on the Torah. I mean we all tend to pick and choose. Everyone's done a bit of jaywalking when the light is red but no cars are coming. But when you are a public speaker for a movement it really does come under scrutiny. I don't believe the world should place boundaries on her, but she herself has placed them on her by her public image and statements. I would have no issues with this at all unless she hadn't criticized other celebs on their clothing not being modest before.
+Crocheting Canuck Yeah I thought she liked to cover up, as part of her Jewish faith. Tbh I don't really know enough about Judaism to know their rules/guidance, and how strongly Mayim upholds/abides by/follows them and stuff. But then I guess she's a feminist, and she's a believer of making breast feeding like completely acceptable in public. At least that's what I think. So maybe she's not modest. Well, like modest for the most part, unless she's standing up for something she believes in... I don't know haha :)
I want to believe, that she didn't really show anything and it was only for the gag. But, in general judaism holds that modesty is important, and sexuality is a private thing between a man and a woman who have been conjoined by the ceremony of marriage. Obviously Judaism has many different observance levels, but that is the main outlook.
i agree with what hes saying though. i mean wear what you want to wear im all for that but i mean tou wouldnt wear ceetain things to a funeral. on that note i thought her outfit was cute.
I don't know. I feel like it depends on the person being celebrated. I would dig a hot girl talking about me when I died...but I also have a very dark humor about life and told my best friends if anyone shows up that I didn't like she's has permission to drag them m out of the church and beat them up lmao
Kendall Shaw She was introducing a highlight reel of all the people in show business who died in 2015. I hear what you're saying though. I would probably prefer an unconventional send off as well.
This is why im done with people. Even when someone like Piers (of all people)makes a valid and respectable point to a feminist, this was the only thing she could answer with.
+Connor Lachmanec I don't think most people dress like that at an awards show, but even so the issue is that she was doing a presentation about people dying and decided to make it more about her than about the people she was there to introduce. If a man had done the same thing, it would have been just as tacky.
+Kendall Shaw Same. Was it actors and celebrities who died in 2015 or something? (Also +Jim Beam, I don't think the outfit she wore "made it more about her".) I'm kind of unsure on this issue, do I agree with Piers, do I not? It's a grey area
A couple of points here: 1. Feminists accuse men of sexual objectivization of women because of men's enjoyment of scantily clad women. Thus I would expect feminists to disapprove of Susan Sarandon parading around in a skimpy outfit as perpetuating the stereotype of women as sex objects. 2. Outfits showing a lot of skin are generally associated with fun and enjoyment -- in the most generic sense. Thus the appropriateness of such outfits at somber occasions is at least questionable.
There goes out the window Mayim's claims of her proud frumkeit... I do like her as an actress though. It just strikes me as hypocritical here how she's an advocate for Judaic observation and frumkeit but is flashing on TV for Pierce Morgan, twice. I support her freedom to do so but that should reflect on her position as a public spokeswoman for the observant Jews of America. You need to pick your ground and stand on it. Either you live your life according to your views or then you become the spokesperson for a movement and stick to that mold which you are advocating publicly. I'm surprised nobody called her out on it. I do like her though, even if I don't agree with her on everything.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually in agreement with Piers Morgan. He did preface the whole thing with stating he had no problem with WHAT she wore, he did say she looked great, he just said WHERE she wore it was inappropriate. And that statement is easily understood (Although Morgan still has a way of being the douchebag by calling it "tacky") The feminists who attacked him did so in a blind rage, completely sans logic and with as much venom as they could muster. Again proving why the modern third wave feminist movement is actually damaging the image of women in society.
WOW! Mayim certainly wasn't afraid to show herself a little. I wished her character of Amy would wear less on "The Big Bang Theory." I can't help but thinking that Mayim is SEXY!
that would be out of character for Amy! Unless if the character arc is about her discovering how freeing it is to wear lighter clothing. She looked like she just took her mom's closet and never updated her wardrobe...ever... while being paid well as a biologist. Wait. Was she a biologist in the show? I haven't really watched it since... nevermind, pretty sure it was a good job with good pay.
Interesting perspective: if it were the other way around and Piers were a woman complaining about getting sent pictures of dudes junk then live on TV the person sitting next to her got up and showed her their junk it would get pulled from TV and it would be considered sexual harassment. So, why is there a double standard that it's okay if a woman does it to a man and it's still kept online and it isn't sexual harassment? It's confusing! Double standards in sexual harassment don't make sense!!!!!
There is nothing wrong with what he said. There should be a time and place for everything and showing off skin like that was just greed for some spotlight. I will never understand why everything has to be on Twitter tho...
I actually do agree, there's a time and place and let's face it you wouldn't dress like that for tea with the Queen, my point being, sometimes dressing appropriately and respectfully is necessary
She's hot because she doesn't like like any other cookie cutter hollywood blonde. She looks distinctive, and coupled to her smoking intelligence, she is miles hotter than the average bouncing bimbo.
Personally, I think Piers Morgan might be a low-key genius. I mean, think about it: he offered up a slight criticism about Susan Sarandon's cleavage and, as punishment, women are suddenly flashing him their cleavage. If I one day become famous and subtly criticize vaginas, is it possible that women I don't even know might start flashing me theirs? I must ponder this....
I hate myself for it, but I do agree with him on this point. It's not like a surprise that she was announcing that segment. I suppose fair enough if she would wear that to a funeral - her choice. But I wonder if she would?
From me watching this, she showed that she is a "feminist" but she is also self aware of what some of em pull. She was poking fun in a way that makes everyone laugh and it wasn't harmful in the way most people would consider. She just showed what outrageous individuals do on the Internet but collapse when it's time to stand on person.
Sexual harassment can traverse a wide range of behaviors from suggestive comments, lewd looks or gestures, explicit jokes, innuendo and belittling, to sexual assault, indecent exposure (Cates & Machin, 2012).
I love that mayim despite all her personal beliefs and values stood in solidarity with feminists and disagreed with Morgan, while still managing to keep the mood light.
Someone will probably criticize me for being too inclusive, LOL, but I see ways in which I agree with both sides of this: I agree with him that there's value in being modest at a solemn occasion... and I agree with the feminists, who would point out that if a man had worn something moderately immodest, nobody would have even noticed, much less tweeted about it.

She was poking fun in a way that makes everyone laugh and it wasn't harmful in the way most people would consider. She just showed what outrageous individuals do on the Internet but collapse when it's time to stand on person.
Sexual harassment can traverse a wide range of behaviors from suggestive comments, lewd looks or gestures, explicit jokes, innuendo and belittling, to sexual assault, indecent exposure (Cates & Machin, 2012).
i was expecting that "I am Sheldon Cooper i need 30000 subscribers" guy here
I love that mayim despite all her personal beliefs and values stood in solidarity with feminists and disagreed with Morgan, while still managing to keep the mood light.
I actually agree with him?!
i really hope there are more clips of mayim on the show!!!
The comment sections gonna be lit af
Susan Sarandon has a beautiful rack for a woman her age, but Piers does have a point that the outfit may not have been appropriate for the occasion.
What an offensive thing to say
1 minute 12 seconds in she decides to flash him. Pause it right at that moment and you can see the devious gaze in her eye :)
I need some punishment please... kidding😆
I wonder how they were called punishments. Maybe some of you fellow feminists care to demonstrate for me?
Douglas Murray's Book brought me here.
Rumors have it, that she didn't show em to him
Someone will probably criticize me for being too inclusive, LOL, but I see ways in which I agree with both sides of this: I agree with him that there's value in being modest at a solemn occasion... and I agree with the feminists, who would point out that if a man had worn something moderately immodest, nobody would have even noticed, much less tweeted about it.
Jeopardy brought me here.
And millions of men suddenly realise that feminism isn't all bad :P
I could not love Mayim Bialik more than I do.
"do you need to see it again?"

Did Sheldon approve of this?
I had thought she was classier than that for some reason . . . Guess I was wrong . . .
Some how I don't think Sheldon would agree with this.
Give that man a golden statue!
Agreed, Piers.
