    Cool! Thanks for doing this video!! I have a 99 Forester sitting in our barn right now waiting for what hopefully are the very last repairs for a WHILE. It's been off the road more than on for repairs over the last two years - rebuilt engine, used trans, etc., etc. So, I was telling my grandson that after she's back on the road with no issues, I want to lift it so it sits higher. I loved the height of my old Honda CRV and as much as LOVE my old Sub, it's just never sat high enough for me. Now that I know it can be lifted - look out! hahaha I'm not lifting it for anything off-road. Being short, I just need it to sit a bit higher. It's easier on my knees too getting in and out of it. And it'll look cool! LOL

      Hey there! You’re welcome, and thanks for watching! That’s a bunch of work to have done! This kit is perfect if you want it sit higher without actually getting too serious into the off road scene. I definitely like the way it sat/ and rode after the lift. Definitely make sure to get an alignment when it’s done though. Again, thanks for the comment and for watching! I greatly appreciate it!!

      @@jroddy84jeep Oh yeah... definitely an alignment. Fortunately, my grandson's a mechanic at a local dealership; he does family and friend repairs at his work garage on Saturdays - and he takes care of his grandma! 😏😁

    Always like the 1st Gen Forester. I’ve owned a 2007 (2nd Gen) and 2011 (3rd Gen). Just got a 22’ Forester Wilderness last month. Currently looking for a 2002 Forester to mess around with.

      Yeah, my wife had a 1st gen too, we went wheeling in it one time, and totally crushed in her Mufler, but other than that it did awesome. I actually just sold the blue one in the video to a coworker, but it was nice while it lasted had it.

    Man, it gives me PTSD from when I had to do the Pathfinder struts. It was so much easier when we put the lift on that together.

      Yeah, it would’ve been faster to have two people for this install. Definitely best to disconnect the sway bar. It sucks having to separate the rear brake lines, terrible design.

    No trailing arm spacers to being the rear wheels back to the center of the wheel well?

      @jroddy84jeep  Рік тому +1

      Hi! Yeah, the kit I got from Amazon didn’t include any arm spacers, it was just the strut pucks. It’s mostly just to give a taller ride height, not really for off road use as I can’t put a taller tire on and the arm travel isn’t there. I don’t plan on keeping the car when my truck gets fixed, I just wanted better ride comfort. Thanks for the comment and the view!!

      I got the same kit from Amazon and I added trailing arm spacers. Did you have positive camber after installation? I do in at least 3 tires. So I need to get an alignment and maybe some adjustable camber bolts.

      Hey Khalil, yes, I did have some positive camber in the front, but it wasn't too terrible and was corrected after I got it aligned at Grease Monkey. You should automatically have camber bolts already, they're the top bolts on the lower section of the strut that attaches to the wheel hub. I didn't get the arm spacers, but my wheels were pretty well centered considering, and the geometry didn't change too much. If I was going to use it more off road, I'd definitely get the spacers and maybe even some longer travel arms and sway bar disconnects, etc.

    I ran into some problems. My car now has positive camber front and rear and they can’t do alignment at Les Schwab. I’ve been told I need bigger camber bolts in the front and a rear subframe spacer in the rear. I can’t afford to mess up my new tires from them wearing uneven. Maybe I should go down to a 2” lift.

      Hey, sorry it took so long to reply, I was waiting to get my alignment done before replying back so I could have the best info back for you. My alignment went fine with only the fronts cambered out a few degrees. It's a bummer yours is giving you issues. When Les Shwab said you needed bigger bolts, did they mean larger diameter or longer bolts? What year is your Subaru? It'd be a bummer if you had to downgrade lift size.

      @@jroddy84jeep les Schwab said they couldn’t adjust the back unless I got adjustable rear control arms. And they didn’t have any idea about the front. I don’t want to do a rear subframe drop it’s 260$ and a lot of work. And I think they meant longer camber bolts. My forester is a 2004 thanks for the reply

    • @jroddy84jeep
      @jroddy84jeep  Рік тому

      Dang, yeah $260 is a lot more and that would be some serious amount of work done. Then the control arms are just hiem joints that thread out and you're basically linking the rear which would negate the need for the spacer, but those are super expensive too. Maybe check out ua-cam.com/video/pgb7GT-yKEQ/v-deo.html . This guy has some good tips about getting the camber set on not only the fronts but also the rears. Again, sorry you're having such a difficult time, hopefully this helps.

    Cheap spacers. Not worth the money. Buy a real kit from ADF. Those aren't 3" either. They are 2" ADF has the best lift kit for subarus out there. Worth the $600+ This doesn't even have trailing arm spacers or subframe. That's a problem idc what you say

      Hey there! No, I haven’t had any issues. After the install my ABS light came on from having stretched out the front sensors and having everything out of alignment, however after getting it aligned, the light turned off on it own. Thanks for the question and the view and I hope you enjoyed the video.
