Investment Opportunities in the Zambian Poultry Sector

- As a strategy to contribute to improved investment and competitiveness of the Zambian poultry industry, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Harare in conjunction with AgriProFocus Zambia and the Poultry Association of Zambia commissioned a market study on investment opportunities to inform the Dutch businesses that have interest in investing in the Zambian poultry industry.
In the poultry sector lie different investment opportunities. This video highlights these opportunities, the costs of investments, expected returns and the Poultry Companies seeking the different investment opportunities.
Notwithstanding lack of data on Zambia’s poultry imports and exports, the market study established that the Zambia poultry has been growing steadily for the past five years averaging around 8 % and 20% for broilers and layers annual production respectively. The rapid poultry production increase is attributed to a number of factors such as national population increase, disposable income rise buoyed by growing middle income class, investment in poultry breeding, production and processing as well as increasing poultry feed ingredient of maize and soybeans.

I don't agree with the Dutchman @4:45. More Zambian people should be in poultry, to keep the poultry market to the Zambian Country and people. The Zambian people should learn the industry everyday. Avoid a handful of outside company's 12:45 from coming in and controlling the market?

Netherlands (Holland) is about 18 times smaller than Zambia. No need for outsiders to come in and colonize our poultry markets. Zambian people are very intelligent and have the next generation ready to step in to run the Country's poultry industry. These people had to learn from someone like the Chinese. Which is where Chi'ken originated anyway?
