- Many people ask me my personal opinion on trial difficulty for games.
If the scale was 1 out 10 in difficulty
MVC3 - 3
SSF4 - 4
3rd Strike - 5
UMVC3 - 5
Blazblue - 9
KOF 13 - 10
Mini blog on Ash trials
Ash and Leona are by far the most difficult trials in KOF XIII.
Both are charge based characters. You need to absolutely master
charge buffering before even attempting to complete either trial.
(Charge)D-U+K xx (Charge)B-F+P is very common in almost every trial.
To buffer this, input (Charge)DB-UB xx F+P
This must be second nature in the later trials.
There are also times where you must move slighty forward before you
input (Charge)B-F+P. To do this you must hold forward and delay the
punch button by a tenth of a second. This will allow you to move
slightly ahead to be in range of the next hit. I will note when you
need to do this.
"Sans Culotte" is done by pressing LP-LK-HP-HK in succession.
To do this quickly I flick my index finger vertically twice on both
rows of buttons. It is hard to see in 30fps but you can hear the speed.
Use whatever is comfortable for you.
When "Sans Culotte" is active (you glow green) you no longer have to
charge any special attacks, you simply just input without charge.
Trial 1
You have enough time to charge after B+LK. No need to buffer.
Trial 3
The super is a link, not a cancel.
Trial 4
After QCB+PP you must quickly dash forward B+HK then dash forward again
B+HK.
Trial 5
Try not to slide your hand. D-U+LK xx B+HK XX B-F+HK
Trial 6
(Charge)B-QCF+LK, QCF+HP is what I used to cancel the charge into super.
Trial 7
After B+HK you must slightly step forward before (Charge)B-F+HP, you can
continue to step forward on all (Charge)B-F+HP to make the next hits
easier.
Trial 8
This trial is very challenging. To cancel into "Sans Culotte" you must
buffer LP-LK-HP during the last (Charge)B-F+LP then run forward and
press the final button (HK). You have about a full second to hit that
last button, it is very lenient.
The final phase requires 4 reps of
D-U+HK xx B+HK xx D-U+LK xx B+HK xx D-U+LK
This may take a long time for muscle memory. I suggest getting this down
100% before anything.
To practice it, simply roll forward after screen restart and activate
"Sans Culotte". Juggle the opponent as he is landing.
Make sure each rep starts just before the opponent touches the ground. It
will not work if they are too high.
The final super cancel is very fast. Make sure to practice it as well. I
used no shortcut for it. It was done raw.
Trial 9
It may seem like you do not have time to do (Charge)D-U+LK xx (Charge)B-F+HK
twice, but you do. Cancel into "Sans Culotte" asap after (Charge)B-F+HK
B-F+LK xx B+HK xx D-U+LK xx B+HK xx B-F+HK first rep
then 3 reps of
D-U+HK xx B+HK xx D-U+LK xx B+HK xx B-F+HK
remember to juggle as low as possible, do not slide stick. Also it helps
to charge the first input even though you don't have to, to help with the
timing.
"Sans Culotte" ends before the combo does, remember to charge the final
2 special moves.
Trial 10
This is much harder than it looks. After B+HK make sure to walk slightly
forward before (Charge)B-F+HP. From this point on, you want to walk
forward slightly before each one. You will be out of range if you don't.
The B+HK xx HD MODE xx (Charge)B-F+HP does not have any trick to it, Ash
will move forward even though you are charging back.
Make sure to delay pressing F+HP after HD MODE. You want Ash to be as close
as possible.
When in HD MODE, B+HK can now be canceled into (Charge)B-F+LP. Make sure to
cancel and not link each one. - Ігри

@@dragonic22 trial 8 canceling B+HK into germinal is very very very hard, i have like 15% chance of succession of pulling this shit, i always trigger EX, fireball B+F
@@herogin710 If you’re getting EX fireball instead of Germinal, it just means you’re not doing the Germinal input correctly. Unfortunately, there’s no shortcut for Nivose to B+HK to Germinal. It’s literally just input speed

I still keep on watching this and that freakin' 8th trial is the craziest.
I had trouble doing number 1 lol... Look at 10... If I take one year to do each trial, in 10 years time I'll master Ash. And by then they'll have a KoF 23 or something...

Why do you enjoy this game so much? I wanna know what it is that makes people enjoy it bc I don't, and maybe I can begin to enjoy it if I know why others do. I don't mean to shame you I just legit don't know why people like it
@@hussalojr5916, because the gameplay is fast, technical and open to a lot of strategies. Besides that, the graphics are really nice: who doesn't love a 2d artwork well animated? The soundtrack is good too, with lots of instruments and different styles of rhythms. Also, the characters are superb, with their relationships, personal interests, traits and lots of awesome cool moves. The story concludes an arch, is interesting and justifies a lot of the team's objectives. Finally, the game is easy to pick up and have fun, but is very hard to master. So, as you can see, the game have all.
@@IoriYagamiBR Aight no offense but none of this clicks for me. As for "easy to pick up" it isn't, at least for me. I'm probably just a scrub though cuz I personally hate the controls in this game. The artwork is great though

Having just completed Trial 8, let me share a small tip that made the difference between getting this and being stuck forever. For the final back HK before the cancel into the super, it is possible to qcb HK then smoothly roll hcf LP+HP. You don't have to do the entire motion after a raw back HK. For whatever reason, the qcb HK doesn't trigger the blow kiss special. It takes A LOT of the pressure off!

Like seriously dude how long did it take you to get these trials down before you posted this video. I'm watching do this in the up most amazement
challenge 8 DONE!!!only 9 and 10 and I've done every trials of this games on a regular ps3 controller.To finish 8 you can do D,U+hk,D,DB,B+HK,HCF+LP+HP.this way the cancel comes way faster.the D,DB,B+hk move won't come out if you're fast enough.hope that helps.

Amazing just amazing, i had problems with trial 8 and after 2 hours i was able to complete it.
There's still Leona, mate.
But from the looks of things, Vesper completing Ash already means that he can pretty much do any trial in the world.

A little error with the notation for Trial 8, the loop part of the combo is actually D-U+HK xx B+HK xx D-U+LK xx B+HK xx D-U+LK.
Sorry to be a grammar Nazi, but for Trial 10, it's "if" not "of".
Outside of those small things, absolutely excellent. Definitely one of the very few people to genuinely show completing the trials instead of showing the demo play.

He mentioned that the last half of K's trials were very unforgiving. Maybe him and Chin (and that's ignoring his immense learning curve) are the other ones whose trials Vesper found exceedingly difficult.
I am working on trial 10, don't quite understand how to cancel HD into Heavy fireball, if I keep charging back, ash will walk back after HD, if I cancel into fireball right away, I won't get the auto dash sometimes, I don't how to make this consistent.
I finally got it, need to hold back charge through the HD dash, then use forward HP to fireball, then 3 reps of juggle, need to time it right, I believe the last cancel into neo max need dummy to be very low in the air.
At last, I made the fucking eigth trial, thanks for the tips, Vesper.

Is it worth it to get KOFXIII when I already have XIV? The characters of XIII look very interesting and I miss the sprites, even if SNK's lead artist Ogura doesn't feel that way.

Ash's trial 8 was the last trial I had to complete to finish all the trials and it took me forever to get it! The hardest part for me was the super cancel at the end.
do the characters in this game even have enough health to survive the combos in trials 9 an 10?
I always thought the trial mode in this game was obnoxiously difficult but I respect anyone who complete them.
As a person who still actively plays KOF XIII, still can't beat these damn trials.

Trial 8 is amazing to watch. I don't know very much about this game, but Ash basically seems like a charge version of Saiki just from the animations.

Although it is understandable that trials are FAR different from doing these in an actual match, the fact that you can pull off 8 is reason enough for you to get your behind in gear and go tourney, if you haven't already that is.

kinoki aranongas Its a bit late to reply but the only way you can do that is to buffer ABC first, then press D. There's a very long pause between ABC and D. So it goes something like a Dashing A to BC to D once you hit confirm A. Ash is one of my favorite characters in game, I just love it when I hit friends with a double Sans-Culotte combo with a full drive meter, they just put down their controllers and watch. Haha~

Jesus FUCK Ash's trials are so god damn difficult. Even after you get the timing down, they're an exercise in stamina. Need to take a nap after trial 9.
I probably needs to play extreme mode of rhythm games before remembering all of those combos 😂

I ALWAYS loved Ash, Leona, Heidern .... the only problem is, i'm a noob, and they're charge characters, so i can't play them properly, also my keyboard has ghosting.
I honestly never understood all the hate Ash gets, in my opinion he is the best MC of all KoF sagas... and the hardest to master, congrats on completing this absolute monster of a challenge.
Ppl probably didn't like charge character. Ash is charge. The most difficult but high-rewarded. I'm also not a pro player but Kyo is easiest one. Duolon is also hard imo. Not just that, but he needed to be hated because of the story. And in the end, everyone admitted that he's the hero who sacrificed himself to protect the world.

@@AngieLikesGirls I believe so many games. Everyone hated him because he could stole the sacred treasure and broke the seal of Orochi. That was a very dangerous act he did. I mean, right from the start (2003) he wanted himself to be a solo player, because he didn't want anyone worried about him.

I'm not going to try Ash's Trial 8 in KOF XIII. I'll just stay with Tizoc (Garou: Mark Of The Wolves) and King of Dinosaurs (KOF XIV).
Trial 8 is the only time I will see that super at the end in this game.

Whatever damage they do, Iori will probably do in a tenth of the number of hits in them.
the most funny thing is how some 8th trials of every character in KOF are more diffult that the last trials.

Granted, using Sans-Culotte actually makes your attacks do less damage, and also there's the damage scaling, but still, if being pulled off well, the last 3 combos are an instant K.O from the looks of it.
These trials particularly the later ones are just to test how really pro you are and for fun.
All the normal BnB combos are quite simple and normal matches aren't like this. Jump in heavy, command normal, special/DM. KoF just seems to be much harder as it's more motion based than other fighters.

trial 8-10 are very practical i use them when wanting to kill a character everytime. bnbs arent the whole game some times yu gotta kill a charcter and not just do cr.lk to flashkick

This game has some of the most obnoxious motions, timing in a fighting game, difficult for the sake of being difficult. Great game, just can't take it seriously...as in it takes too much effort and time. Amazing job for completing these trials btw.
these dont need to be done for ex. the sans cullote yu can make up your own. but the trials espicially 8-9 give yu very good damage and ideas. this isnt capcom's trial mode, doin sonic boom then focus attack hit and combo. these are practical and actually when your done with these yu have a bunch of combos ready for any situation
Wow... trials 8, 9 and 10 are a joke... as in "That's a joke, right ?" I mean, seriously, who's gonna pull THAT off in an actual match ? Look, challenges in other games have combos that can be done normally in matches... but those in KOF 13 are simply ridiculous. Chaining normals is one thing but a quadrillon special moves is just outta whack.
I admire your patience and execution Vesper, these are tough challenges. Let's hope that Leona's ones won't have you rip your hair out.
