It’s amazing how you missed the catacombs but that lead you to have time to see Notre Dame. A year later it’s gone, but the catacombs are still there for you to see.
Notre Dame is still here. The only thing that collapsed was the roof as a result of fire. The government already confirmed it will be rebuilt in the exact same style and France is pretty good at restoring old buildings. Check out Notre Dame de Rouen for example, it was terribly damaged during WWII and now it’s incredible
@@Christianrose1974 Warsaw was also destroyed to the ground and they rebuilt to be the tourist attraction that it is today so Notre Dame is not lost :)
We are Americans living in the United Kingdom and I must say, nothing beats Paris! The food, the charm, the character, the architecture... simply stunning. If ever there again definitely recommend going to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Very cheap and you get an amazing view of the Champs plus the most impressive roundabout - around the Arc - I’ve ever seen.
Lauren Foster I was just gonna comment I think it has gotten worse. Past couple videos have had repeat footage. It makes it confusing. It happened in the Luxembourg video or Belgium video. Only reason I want to comment is to be constructive so they can keep an eye out for it. I mean I watch their videos so obviously I'm a fan. 🤷🏻♂️
I want to go back so badly. I spent 2 weeks in Paris. I stay 3 blocks from the Eiffel Tower. Every night I went down to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle and get a banana Nutella crepe or a strawberry swirl ice cream. Paris is beautiful.
I love Paris - my favorite city in the world! About half the museums and monuments are closed on Mondays, and the other half are closed Tuesdays. Plus museums have gotten really strict about closing times. The good thing is that wandering the streets of Paris is still pretty magical.
Lachlan Clarke-Lowe like a couple people in paris would affect it. Its not like they turn on more cars or more trains for people who dont travel by foot
From this video I learnt that Paris isn't a city that you can visit withou any planning or just to check off from the list... Thanks gives me a lot of joy watching it now in the lockdown ❤😍 this is one city I'm really really trying to visit since last 6+ years 😒
When I went to Paris I literally planned nothing. Of course the guy we went with had a cousin that lived there so we just got dragged around. We took the Seine River water taxi on one compete circuit, and that gave us a good idea of where everything is relative to each other. After that we went to Notre Dame, which was spectacular. Look into the ceiling (when it's rebuilt). The foundation piers didn't get laid square to each other so the ceiling structure doesn't quite line up right. Then we went to the Eiffel Tower. For a massive iron beast it's amazingly artful, detailed, and has a delicacy that belies its strength. It may have been my favorite stop. We didn't wait in line for the elevator back down from the lower observation deck and took the stairs instead. That's when I got some of my favorite pictures. Finally we hopped on the Metro and went to the Arc de Triomphe. It was a few days before Armistice Day (Veteran's Day and Remembrance Day) so there were commemorations happening for WWI. It was very touching. There are a lot of stairs, but it's worth the effort and the €12 admission. The view of the Eiffel Tower were fantastic. The next day we went out without the buddy and just walked. We were surprised how close things were. On the Metro we had no idea. The Metro was worth it but not necessary. The price for a 24 hour pass was quite reasonable, and since we were only there for 28 hours it was totally worth it. Parisians get a bad rap for being rude, and I'm sure many are, but everywhere we went there was some nice person who tried to help us find our way when we looked lost. Just watch out for pick pockets. They're everywhere and they have no shame. Don't let anyone hand you a clip bord or anything else that will occupy your hands. That's when they rifle through your pockets and bags. Most of them are Roma (gypsies), so they don't look like French people. They're at every major tourist spot. I wish we'd had a couple more days in Paris, but we went to Italy and Germany on the trip and it was time to be home. Speaking of going home, I would fly out of literally everywhere but Paris. We got to CDJ three hours early and we only made our flight because it left 45 minutes late. There was a bomb scare, which just means somebody left their carry-on at the ticket counter, so we lost our place at the check-in counter. The locals seemed more perturbed than scared so we realized it was more of an inconvenience than a threat. While the bomb scare was being solved we got in a line that let us print boarding passes and luggage tags at the kiosk, but the attendant wouldn't accept our bags. Passport control took over an hour. We got stopped at security because an umbrella looked suspicious to the bag scanner. It had been raining. Yah, we're going to have umbrellas. By the time we got to our gate there wasn't time to stop at the restroom or fill water bottles. It was a mess. I did learn one valuable lesson (other than don't fly out of Paris), don't believe anyone but the gate agent when they say the flight isn't leaving. The gate agent firmly but politely corrected someone who said I had time for a relief stop. We got on the plane, the door shut, off to Atlanta. Seriously though, take a train to Brussels or even Frankfurt to fly anywhere. CDJ airport is the worst travel experience of my life, and I've been some places. Connecting in Amsterdam is way better.
It's customary in Europe for major sites to be closed on one weekday. In Paris, all the museums close different days, so look online before you go. You're going to have to do a little more planning for those sites now that you're in Europe.
The Parisian architecture is stunning to look at, and every street corner is picturesque. Many of the buildings might not have names, but a couple that could be seen are: 5:04 The Pantheon could be seen behind Kara as you're leaving the Luxembourg Gardens. 7:17 The stunning building across the river that you stopped to film is called the Conciergerie. It was the royal palace at one point, and then during the French Revolution it served as a prison. Most notably Marie Antoinette was held prisoner at the Conciergerie before her execution which happened at Place de la Concorde which could be seen at 8:03. Enjoy your travels!
The gardens of Luxembourg will always have a special place in my heart ❤️ I was visiting them when my then boyfriend popped the question via text from 1000km away. I wouldn't trade that proposal for anything, even though it was unconditional
Next time you go to Paris, invest in a train pass. Depending how you do it, the passes work on buses as well. So worth it!! And it helps save time if you want to do a variety of things in one day.
LOVED this vlog! We were in Paris in May and vlogged our entire experience. We fell in love with the city and loved re-living it through this video! Thanks for sharing.
Currently rewatching this because I’ve just finished an internship in Paris and am planning to spend some of my last day tomorrow at the Jardins de Luxembourg! I also worked right by the Eiffel Tower and am sitting beneath it watching this! Love your channel 💕
How can you guys magically find ways to travel cheap/free on businesses classes and access lounges that I can only dream of, BUT not know the opening/closing hours of places you wanna visit?! Lol
I'm around the same age as Kara and Nate and yes, I remember Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame... I think I watched the VHS so many times that the tape got ripples in it For an animated film, it was epic.
If you ever go back to France, I'd recommend the Côte d'Azur (Nice, Marseilles, Cannes, Antibes, etc.). Paris is a very unique experience, but the rest of France is nothing like Paris. It's a whole new experience, and the south of France is really nice.

It’s such a pleasure watching you both explore Paris. You gotta come back and check out far more places over here 😊 Val de Loire, Normandie, Côté d’Azur, Alsace... just to name a few 😊
Well this was great walking around the streets seeing all these lovely buildings and the Tower looks great but love the Arch looking forward to tomorrow but don't forget I can be your back up adviser on opening times or free ha ha stay safe and enjoy yourselves and your outfit today Kara looked fantastically French inspired
Love your vlogs! No holidays for me this year, so I'm travelling with you! :)The sign at the end of the vlog you see this a lot on many churches in Europe as they ask you to have shoulders and knees covered when visiting inside of the buillding. I loved relaxed vacations. Have a few things planned but the rest is driving or walking and finding cool restaurants. When my parents and I travel outside of the US we like to stay with locals instead of overpriced resorts.
Binging through your videos and I just realized that my family and I were there almost exactly a month before this video was posted... so close! We got to see that same light show as well, we had tickets to go up to the second deck at 11:30PM. Can't wait to visit Paris again!
I love your video! My family and I recently got back from a 3 week vacation in Europe where we stopped in France and visited the country town of Belleau Wood and the city of Paris. The Eiffel tower is beautiful! There is so much to see and do. We can't wait to go back and explore more of France! :)
lovely Paris... one of my favorite cities in the world... We were there in January, 2017 for our family trip.. So much to do that we didn't have time to do so definitely will be back again one day.. Hope you guys enjoyed yourselves.. fabulous food too..
I love you guy's vlogs so much! Best I've seen on UA-cam, I'm so glad I came across them 🙂 please visit Scotland at some point, I'm sure you would love it here! There's Edinburgh and Glasgow of course but the best places are in the highlands - Glencoe and Skye especially! Also LOTS of amazing food! 😄
Also, the Hunchback was quite good at playing the organ. : ))) By the way, did you hear about the man who fell in the river in Paris, and was pronounced "in Seine"?
I loved the catacombs, thankfully I got to see them my last day. that is so sad they were closed for you. There was a cute lion statue by the catacombs. I went to the louvre and my mummy’s exhibit is closed on Fridays. In May 2017 Norte dame cathedral had a bread festival so I was able to buy bread 🥖 and then wait in a small 15-20 line it also helped there was 16 of us in our group. I got to go to the second story of the Eiffel Tower.
I'm so glad that you guys did not go into the catacombs because its haunted once you go in there you don't come out alive. You guys should watch the movie "As above so below" before going in there.
You did not even go into the Cathédrale Notre-Dame or up in the Eiffel Tower???! Those two experiences are so much better and unbelievable than just walking by or seeing either from the outside. :-(
You guys need to do your homework before you get to these places. You can also buy the skip the line tkts off of Tripadvisor easily. We were also around the corner from the Notre Dame Cathedral and went to a morning mass there just 6 weeks before it burned.
Too bad you didn't get to see the catacombs, they are very interesting and one of the highlights of our trip. If you want a delicious steak and fries dinner LeRelais de l"Entrecote is fabulous.
I’m just watching your older videos and the memories came FLOODING with this one and i also think that i was there like a month before you guys and i would’ve been awesome to meet 3 years ago but heh lmao
It’s amazing how you missed the catacombs but that lead you to have time to see Notre Dame. A year later it’s gone, but the catacombs are still there for you to see.
quite an exaggeration to say that Notre Dame is "gone". Most of the building survived the fire and is still there.
makyotoo That’s wonderful. I hope to see it one day.

Lauren Foster very Casey but yes was good
In all fairness, it's also Nate's great videography. They can be very artistic. Only bad side is the horrible music, but that is sponsored.
😊❤
One of my favorite memories of Paris is the sparkling Eiffel Tower. ❤ 10:50
How often does the sparkling happen? I’ve read that at 1am it’s the only time to see it sparkle at night. So much conflicting information.
@kaseymgunter2148 after dusk (as soon as it gets dark) it'll sparkle for 5 minutes every hour until about 11:pm 45/12am.
I love Paris - my favorite city in the world! About half the museums and monuments are closed on Mondays, and the other half are closed Tuesdays. Plus museums have gotten really strict about closing times. The good thing is that wandering the streets of Paris is still pretty magical.
Who knew! Haha but yes you are right. Still magical even if you don't go in anywhere!
You are so lucky to have seen the Notre-Dame before the fire.
Every time I watch your vlogs, no matter what country your in, I find myself smiling at my phone. Your positivity and smiles are infectious. ✈️🚂🚢🌎
Paris is an amazing walking city! So much better (and cheaper!) to see it by foot than underground on the Metro.
AGREED!
And better for the environment
Lachlan Clarke-Lowe like a couple people in paris would affect it. Its not like they turn on more cars or more trains for people who dont travel by foot
While Paris is excellent for walking, its metro isn’t expensive at all. In fact, it’s the cheapest metro system in Western Europe.

Glad you liked it! Hard not to love Paris!!!
Lol i can’t believe i am the first Parisian to comment here nearly 4 years later. Your first prononciation of Notre Dame was the best!
WOW - your camera does a GREAT job in low light... really beautiful!!
Who knew?! It held up well after sunset!
The Paris Intro montage with the music was perfect!

I cant believe how light it stays till so late at night!!!! Beautiful vlog 😀
I know! Makes us go to bed a lot later though!
Eiffel Tower underwhelming? How could anybody who has been to Paris say that. I'm glad you got it, Paris is magnificent!
He's quite condescending about a lot of things... I watch because I love Kara

Watching this standing in the Eiffel Tower to try and find where they were standing so I can stand there 😂
My sister loved Paris WAY more than she thought. 👍🏼
3rd rewatch and I just caught that "I don't remember things from when I was 5" comment from sweet, sweet Kara. Now I feel old.

When I went to Europe, I was least excited about Paris, but I was also very pleasantly surprised and had an awesome time.
Its amazing that you can say when you spent your first time in Paris you could see the old wooden spire of Note Dame, knowing that the following year it would be gone due to a fire.
i love you guys such a nice and positive people
Jardin du Luxembourg is one of my favourite places on the planet! So happy y'all got to see it :)
Lol, the opening conversation about Notre Dame. Beautiful shots of Notre Dame!
Since you are interested in Catacombs, you should visit the bone church (Sedlec Ossuary) in Kutma Hora in Prague.
did you guys go up in Notre Dame and see the Gargoyles? What a place. That's probably a day trip in itself. The pipe organ alone is incredible.
If you r still there the monteparnasse area is a must it's a normal neighbors that has great crepes and petite cafe my favorite is less petite broc cafe... Kara get the hot choc with Chantilly creme on top OMG selfish... I love Paris Been five times... Must go to Rodin outdoor garden (Dante inferno)) and Pierre here pastry shop 🤤😁
this brings back such nice memories, we were there in the early spring of 2005. It was really cold, but there were snow showers mixed in with sunshine from the top of the tower and it was absolutely spectacular! I'll never forget it as long as I live!
I've watched the segment about you discussing the Hunchback several times over now, and the banter always makes me laugh out loud. :)

this video popped up on my feed just after seeing y’all’s 9 year anniversary post on instagram! 🤩

👍👍 we just got back last week and can’t wait to return! We’ll have to come back to check out some spots we missed.
OMG! The little red and white Citroen car belongs to my friend Nicholas! How funny.
i agree eiffel tower looks amazing at night...
Next time you go to France, you must go to the Carthes Cathedral, its BEAUTIFUL with just a rich history as Notre Dame.
Unless Disney made a movie about it the rich history would be lost on Kara and Nate. (And I assume you mean Chartres)
What is your average step count a day? Just wondering!
They mentioned in one of their videos, approx 17000 steps a day.
You might want to check out: The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1939
Should have recorded your lil picnic dinner
lovely Paris... one of my favorite cities in the world... We were there in January, 2017 for our family trip.. So much to do that we didn't have time to do so definitely will be back again one day.. Hope you guys enjoyed yourselves.. fabulous food too..

Thanks for showing me such a beautiful place!!🤩🌎🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
when in doubt what you do eat ... Kara's favorite
I hope they learned more about Notre Dame!
I'm so glad that you guys did not go into the catacombs because its haunted once you go in there you don't come out alive. You guys should watch the movie "As above so below" before going in there.
Notre Dame the "a" is pronounced like far or are. With an emphasis on the a, Kara 😉 ! You are in my city ! Love the vlog like always. Enjoy !
i think the pronunciation is closest to "NUT rah DAHM"
Norte Dome is so pretty, it’s so sad it’s gone.
It's not gone, it's still there.
These light show are the gala occasion of Eiffel Tower
From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
You did not even go into the Cathédrale Notre-Dame or up in the Eiffel Tower???! Those two experiences are so much better and unbelievable than just walking by or seeing either from the outside. :-(
You guys need to do your homework before you get to these places. You can also buy the skip the line tkts off of Tripadvisor easily. We were also around the corner from the Notre Dame Cathedral and went to a morning mass there just 6 weeks before it burned.
the slomos are magnifique!
Too bad you didn't get to see the catacombs, they are very interesting and one of the highlights of our trip. If you want a delicious steak and fries dinner LeRelais de l"Entrecote is fabulous.
You guys need to go to Strausbough France. The Notra Dame cathedral there is larger and they have a fantastic light show
Good channel, the Paris catacombs has 7million dead bodies, and they didn't stop adding people until around 1880's.
Who else is watching this after notre dame burned?
OMG Paris is my favorite city ever =)
I’m just watching your older videos and the memories came FLOODING with this one and i also think that i was there like a month before you guys and i would’ve been awesome to meet 3 years ago but heh lmao
How long was that sailboat time-lapse? Very cool shot. Your cinematography and edits are so professional.
G’Day cobbers, good to see that you use the Australian Siri :)
cool editing on the traffic shots
Glad you liked that part! :)
Notre Dame ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very nice Tower is amazing at night. Surprised you didn't go up to one of the levels.
