There are a range of Steadicam rigs available to fly ALL cameras. Glidecam make cheaper versions based on Brown's expired patents. The big rig featured is an 1980s EFP Steadicam flying a normal 2/3" ENG camera, the standard size professional video camera around the world. In short, Steadicams give professional results, other cheaper systems do not.

@AnisFiltro It says something like; it's an alternative but actually not a real steadycam. experience shows, that holding a camera with it is a littler smoother than by hands. the abiltity to mount light, a microfone or remote control at the rig is a plus. also car lovers will have fun with its design.

Dude, the first act of effectively comparing the devices is mastering the spelling of Steadicam which has no "Y" but is properly spelled "Steadicam." If that's already a challenge good luck with the minutiae of an effective comparison!

Das Merlin ist schön leicht, aber "etwas" unstabil. (wiege 75kg und ein Bekannter 120kg - ich könnte Std. damit arbeiten und er hat nach 1-2min geschwitzt) Die Steadycam nimmt man bei schweren Cams aber man verkramft bei Standaufnahmen und das Bild "kreiselt". Und erst nach 5-10 Std. tragen, rumhüpfen und rennen gelingen saubere Ergebnisse. (kwitsch überall) Durch die Hebelwirkung kam es mir sehr schwer vor. Merlin 4-8 Euro, SteadyCam 50-60 Euro pro Tag im Filmverleih.
Matthias Schaffer Der erste Kameraassistent kann meistens ziemlich gut Entfernungen schätzen. Auf dem Fokusring von deinem Objektiv stehen immer Entfernungsangaben, auf dem Ring von der Funkschärfe ebenfalls. Wenn man keinen riesen Sensor hat und die Blende nicht zu weit offen hat (denn das verringert den Schärfebereich), kann man so meist problemlos die Schärfe mitziehen (auch wenn man meistens noch einen extra Monitor für den Assistenten auf der Kamera hat), sonst wird es schwierig.
