Do an update on the human tragedy of having no wall and no control of the border.
They will not do anything outside of their narrative. Besides, they don’t actually care about humans.
They don't care about people. They care more about the aesthetics of a hill in the middle of nowhere then about the innocent people smuggled, raped and murdered.
I realy wish he cared for his fellow Americans like he cares for a mountain or a cactus..
And now these people are showing up in the Upper East Side where New Yorker writers live. Get ready for a complete 180.

The point is that there was virtually no border crossings here. Most Americans don’t hate immigrants.

Agree. I will wait here for a good explanation.
It's just the usual ignorant hypocrisy of the effete city sewer rats.
Agreed 👍🏻
Cuz they're outnumbered. You got 9 million other people going about their daily lives, but no one cares about a vast desert so they cling to that as their little thing they feel they can control. It's all about control. These are not sensitive habitat areas. That's a bunch of bs. I have lived in Arizona my entire life and have watched them destroy thousands of acres of land daily for neighborhoods, freeways, factories, new cities. But you don't hear any complaining about that, do you?
How does that compare to a wall? If they put up neighborhoods in places there will still be loads of space elsewhere.
@@luperamos7307 And there is still loads of space with the wall.
@@standdown4929 the argument is that animals with wide ranges and which frequent different areas of wilderness will have fewer options and therefore less resource and genetic resilience
@@TheAlbinoskunk Because that is the only argument they have for not securing the border.
And on top of that, a bigger issue is..."what does the unregulated foot & vehicle traffic of thousands of illegal border transgressors do to the local environment?"
Illegal alien border smuggling creates a lot of terrain damage, disruption of breeding/nesting/feeding ground activities and there are literally of tons of trash/litter in the desert filling the washes and arroyos of these areas.
BUILD THE WALL❗❗
America does not need open borders. The crime and drug smuggling that occurs on the border is outrageous. Not to mention human trafficking and we have plenty of homeless people in America that need to be taken care of. The drain on America resources is another issue with open borders
I do wonder if it is effective at all in this regard. But I do agree with you.
This wall is basically opening roads in mountains that will be used by smugglers. The mountains were in great part a natural border, now it's a shortcut.
We are going to need lots more workers as the US population ages, and we need an orderly process to get them. Immigration reform is long overdue.
@@jmpattillo oh trust me, we have plenty of humans on this planet. We really don’t need that much more. We should try and focus on helping the poor people already here get decent jobs. With so many available job openings, why is there an issue? Shoddy education, that’s why.
I actually interact with a lot of people who live on the southern border through my job. They are VERY supportive of the wall and have often dealt with illegal migrants and smugglers firsthand. And funny thing, most of those people are Hispanic. The white guy says the wall is “racist”, but takes no effort to interview the locals. And if animals can live in the Korean DMZ, I’m sure they can live in the border area with the wall.
We must live in the saddest .. most ignorant times.. deprived of respect and love for nature and the Earth.. ruled by fear, greed and misinformation..
We live in the best of times in human history. If you can't grasp that it's because you are completely unfamiliar with past history. Read 100 serious works of human history and find your safe place & time. You could be starving for ten thousand years, then at the mercy of anyone bigger than you with a club for ten thousand more, then at the mercy of religious laws or military enslavement for 5000 more. Then you get to recorded history and you have disease and war and superstition. All this time you have zero rights and no ability to change whatever you were born into. On & on. Wake up!
Heartbreakingly true! 😭
And there’s this insatiable appetite among a large number of people to consume endless talk of victimhood, hatred, blame. They think homelessness is a Democrat creation and problem. Not an American problem. They’re fed the same propaganda the Soviet Union used against America. Except now this propaganda is aimed at Democrats and blue cities and states. They talk of the homeless camps problem in blue cities as being caused by all the money being given to these people. They live in a world with zero solutions, only endless complaining. Endless blaming.
You and your family meet up with the cartel some evening, get real..

why do we only care about the environment along the border wall and not the environment where our cities are?
Pardon my ignorance, but how does the wall with it's current 'slat design' endanger plant life? I'm genuinely curious. Is it because plant reproduction is often times tied to animal movement and waste?
Yes plants don’t walk around and so they cannot pollinate themselves. When furry animals roam around they carry pollen and brush off plants which pollinates them.
The new Great Wall of America
Well, you are assuming that all plants use windblown or bird droppings as a form of carrying seeds or seed containing fruit.
But the digestive tract is one major source as is burrs getting caught in fur of animals on the move. So if animals can't move along in to other areas, habitats are cut off.
The scarring & disruption of the ground for the construction does not heal in these very dry locations for centuries. I would say it's hyperbole to call it endangering, more like changing. Unfortunately hyperbole is stock & trade of New Yorker videos.
Agreed. I’ve seen the wall, and find it horrendous. However, I think the same question can be asked for some of the small animals referenced as well. I think it is a stretch to claim they’re being impacted.

We’re fortunate to have Mexico as our neighbor. Wonderful for both countries. In fact if Canada, Mexico, and the USA kept our oil produced by our three countries we would be paying $2.70 at the pump. Let that sink in. Mexico is the only industrialized nation with young people.
Canada is giving safe haven to extremist and Mexico put 150 countries on our border. We should have a good relationship with our neighbors but that's long gone.
You just watched a video about environmental damage and then you talk about oil extraction? I don't get some people.
@@luperamos7307 You are one of the people who prefer if to be extracted in other countries and then consumed in America with the added carbon footprint of transporting it. Yeah, that makes so much sense.
@@luperamos7307 I have to agree with you. These ridiculous gas, and food prices, almost everything you touch, snd consume has gone up. I guess I’m obsessed on the ridiculousness of a President that would actually attack his own countries oil production. In our country these prices are an inconvenience, in others it’s food security. We’re only one election away, or not. As Thomas Jefferson wrote, “ The people elect the government they deserve”. This too shall pass.
@@tonybloomfield5635 A lower oil price technically leads to higher consumption. So how is that environmentally beneficial? Is that the direction we should be going in?
Did the americans forget about the fauna? Dont they feel bad because their wildlife is dying, dont they feel the same pain deep inside their hearts? As a person who used to ride across the boarder while training horses, this tragedy is so overshadowed by racism.
Usage of the term "overshadowed" here means that racism is the much bigger issue than the environment.
Just really poor writing and lazy thinking. Your qualifier "a person who used to ride across the boarder while training horses" is a non sequitur as you use it.
All you mean is, "I see this as racism." That's your right but is also nonsense, as the fence is racially blind. If you are trying to say that the policy of a secure border (which I agree this does not accomplish) is racist, you are just wrong.
