      Getting a lot worse here though. When we came 18 years ago, it was a very safe, wonderful city. Now it is not really safe at night, and has lots of areas to be avoided at all times. Mostly still a nice place to luve though.

      I've lived here for 40 years, and have had an active outdoor social life the last 20 years and I never felt that way. The city has less crime per capita compared to Gothenburg and Stockholm, heck it doesn't even hit 3rd place even though it's the 3rd largest city... It's dangerous according to conservative- and racist sources since it is a multicultural city. But the numbers don't back it up. Sure, since interpool and Swedish police started to crack down on drug distribution there has been a lot of unease, gun violence etc. as an aftermath of those crackdowns (Sweden has become a drug distribution hub for all of the nordics) But primarily, gang members have been the victims, and generally not average citizens. That initial spike has dropped significantly this and last year. If you look globally, Sweden is still a very safe place to live. And Malmö doesn't stick out statistically.

    • @PixelShade

      Probably filmed during a weekday. It becomes busier during weekends. But ultimately it's a small 350K city with a pretty decent spread of local commerce. In the 80's and 90's people came into the city centre to go shopping, it became quite crowded. But due to Malmö adopting a more walkable and bike friendly city planning I just think people are more evenly spread out these days.

      Once you stop watching racist media, you realize that even a multicultural city like Malmö is in fact predominantly Swedish. But that's not the mental image conservative/racist propaganda wants to portray. Segregation however is still a problem. Not because immigrants come from other cultures, but because it makes it harder for them to integrate into society. Still it usually takes only one generation before people get integrated here in Sweden, which is about the best result you find in Europe.

    How much is it difficult to have a part time job for an international student?

    • @VirtualStrolls
      @VirtualStrolls  10 місяців тому

      Finding a part-time job as an international student in Malmo, Sweden, presents moderate challenges due to factors such as language requirements, work permit regulations, competition, and the necessity of networking. While English proficiency is beneficial, knowledge of Swedish can significantly broaden job opportunities, particularly in customer service or retail roles.
      Understanding and adhering to work permit regulations is essential for legal employment. Given Malmo's diverse population and student community, competition for part-time positions can be high, necessitating persistence and flexibility in the job search. Networking and making connections within university circles and the local community can greatly aid in finding job opportunities. Utilizing available resources, such as university career services and online job boards, is crucial for navigating the job market effectively. Despite the challenges, with determination and adaptability, international students can enhance their prospects of securing part-time employment in Malmo.
