I wish this song was the comeback. This almost goth, almost rock, almost hip hop, almost operatic ethereal trap. Cinematic sounding too. The more I listen to it, the better it gets. Such an interesting wildcard, a risk right up DCs alley but with this also an invitation to other kpop fans who haven't yet checked out DC thinking the only style they got is rock girl group styled kpop when that's just their main. I do believe DC fans would love this song, maybe it would take a while, but they would. It's a stunning song and it still sounds like dreamcatcher. Just with a smoother power, dark without the boom. Shatter is so unique. At first listen I was unsure about the song but after the live stage and listening more to it, it drew me in like a siren singing to a sailor on the open see. In fact I feel like this is becoming my most favorite song out of the Album.
Yup i feel the same. Kinda unsure when listen it in album highlight. Then not so into it when the album released. But then kinda surprise by their dance in showcase & after Gahyeon said the lyric is good -> i check it again. And yes, now i can see the meaning of song+dance & combine it with the album concept --> it's awesome

Meanwhile here's Dreamcatcher doing it again and again, and the masses don't even notice it. This is perfect. Nobody does the dark sexy concept like Dreamcatcher. The way Yoohyeon sings at 2:26 is beautiful but also sounds like a howl of pain. I love how dark this album is.
And the whole song and choreography of this song is just so incredibly creative. Like.. the last part when the song stopped because they turned into stones.. and the musicality. The plot twist in this song.. Shatter is just one of their masterpieces.
Yes! I also love the part in 0:14 where the girls stand behind JiU waving their arms, as if she has snakes for hair like Medusa. And a lot of the movements are so smooth (not sure if that’s the proper term), like they’re snakes, too.
I am also guilty of not liking this song at first, and I failed the first rule of kpop listening, which is that it's not just the music but also the choreography and music videos. This is now easily the best song on this album! We like things that are familiar. That's how pop music works. You know, the same three-chord progression used in more than half of all the pop songs in the world... I skipped this song and thought, what a bizarre piece of music, weird structure and abrupt changes. But the more I listen to it, it just gets more and more interesting. Like, I just found out that there's this howling that Yoohyeon does @2:25 that I'm surprised I never heard before, and I've listened to this more than 50 times I'm sure!! Anyways, point is, this is weird because it's unfamiliar to our ears. I can name a few other songs just like this that I didn't like or hated at first, but just grows on me and I find little bits and pieces of interesting things that I end up loving the song. I'm getting a re-obsession with this song. It's so hypnotic and the choreo is so powerful. It's definitely something different for dreamcatcher but at the same time it matches them perfectly. I cannot get over the way Siyeon sings "I wanna reach the sky" at 2:16 like my goodness the chills
The opinion of INSOMNIA (Fandom) differs over “Shatter”. For me it is one of Dreamcatcher's best songs. Precisely because it's so different - not just in K-Pop. It's so different that I had to hear it a few times to understand it. And sometimes “different” is actually a good thing. Ultimately it is a work of art - especially with this video. The 10th mini-album has been out for almost 3 months and I'm happy that Dreamcatcher continues to be more "alternative". Even the ballad ("Fireflies") is an absolute banger due to the outstanding voices of the 7 ladies (and I usually hate ballads). All I can do is wish the group all the best on their rocky road to recognition in Korea. Many "stupid" foreigners from EUR and US are into this music. Looking back we're so well-fed. In bon voyage era, two of their b sides had choreography and special clip video dedicated! Same thing for this comeback too! I love how their choreographies tell a story especially with this one, it's like dark, theatrical and medieval (not the best at descriptions but that's what came to mind!) and with the outfits elevating that concept. They look like goddesses. Man, seeing dreamcatcher try out new concepts and sounds is so interesting, it keeps you thinking on how they're going to execute it. Can’t believe hwang sooyeon and chu shinah the purple hair lady back up dancer make the choreography, she step up the game too. I like creative people around dreamcatcher also evolve their skill in pre production level for every comeback not sticking to sama routine. For ootd bringing new choreography by la chica is so intentional align with the concept but for the b side shatter still very dreamcatcher~esque style. Second comment here: I believe the reason why this track had to grow on some insomnia, is because of the vocal effect in the chorus. It gives it a whole other essence, almost like another girl group. To be honest, I kind of think it sounds like CL. Maybe a megaphone effect would've suited better. Having said all that, it's still my favorite on the album. Rising is a close second.
the dynamic camera work in this video is really good. It distinguishes it well from the performance videos though those are good too. the outfit is also amazing.

I skipped this song and thought, what a bizarre piece of music, weird structure and abrupt changes. But the more I listen to it, it just gets more and more interesting. Like, I just found out that there's this howling that Yoohyeon does @2:25 that I'm surprised I never heard before, and I've listened to this more than 50 times I'm sure!!
Anyways, point is, this is weird because it's unfamiliar to our ears. I can name a few other songs just like this that I didn't like or hated at first, but just grows on me and I find little bits and pieces of interesting things that I end up loving the song. Sejeong's "Jenga" comes to mind as a recent track like that with similar abrupt changes: ua-cam.com/video/m1uF6lImbrY/v-deo.html or U2's entire Achtung Baby album compared to their previous Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum -- I hated that album at first, it was so bizarre and different. And of course it's one of my favorite albums ever.

The opinion of INSOMNIA (Fandom) differs over “Shatter”. For me it is one of Dreamcatcher's best songs. Precisely because it's so different - not just in K-Pop. It's so different that I had to hear it a few times to understand it. And sometimes “different” is actually a good thing. Ultimately it is a work of art - especially with this video.
The 10th mini-album has been out for almost 3 months and I'm happy that Dreamcatcher continues to be more "alternative". Even the ballad ("Fireflies") is an absolute banger due to the outstanding voices of the 7 ladies (and I usually hate ballads). All I can do is wish the group all the best on their rocky road to recognition in Korea. Many "stupid" foreigners from EUR and US are into this music. It is better quality than most of what is currently on offer. Not just in K-Pop - in general

Looking back we're so well-fed. In bon voyage era, two of their b sides had choreography and special clip video dedicated! Same thing for this comeback too! I love how their choreographies tell a story especially with this one, it's like dark, theatrical and medieval (not the best at descriptions but that's what came to mind!) and with the outfits elevating that concept. They look like goddesses. Man, seeing dreamcatcher try out new concepts and sounds is so interesting, it keeps you thinking on how they're going to execute it. Second comment here: I believe the reason why this track had to grow on some insomnia, is because of the vocal effect in the chorus. It gives it a whole other essence, almost like another girl group. To be honest, I kind of think it sounds like CL. Maybe a megaphone effect would've suited better.
Having said all that, it's still my favorite on the album. Rising is a close second.
