The more I watch this video, the more details I find that make it obvious it's an ironic/shout out to the negative sides of the music industry and social media. I mean... the constant editing and re-editing of pictures, the planned/fake fights (handong and yoohyeon), also are those "bruises" on handong's legs once you see her whole body 0:55?!! The video makes some lines have a completely different meaning. Like "gonna catch your attention, then wait till you know" or "ootd this my fashion, shut up, no more questions" ---> we enjoy and consume and sometimes envy people over pictures and videos we constantly see on our feeds, that we ignore or even choose to ignore the "darker" side behind them. Which could either be exploitation, faking a smile everyday, narcissism, addictions ("driving on the highway, drunken everyday"), and..... oh god. Also "OOTD" could reference fast fashion, although I see it more like a "you like my facade today, you'll probably hate me tomorrow". Which makes the video a paradox itself seeing the reactions of some people after 1 listen lol. Anyway, this is dreamcatcher's "girl crush" concept, as much as "BEcause" was a love song 🖤

I laugh at whoever hasn't understood the message of this song. It's about narcissistic people who think they are gods or goddesses and it's also about people who would do *everything* to be popular online, even faking arguments. You're welcome and stop wasting your time insulting our girls.
Some thoughts... In the MV it's showing design, editing, production of photo shoots / mv all throughout. The song is calling out satirically the Aggressive Narcissistic Extravagance that many put on display when gaining more success and showing the production helps illustrate that it's all just a production by design and not necessarily real. Such as the break in the middle where Handong is fighting Yoohyeon, but cut... and Handong's true self helps up Yoohyeon, separating them from what is being portrayed in the mv. The lyrics are satirically like many pop songs where they just brag about how awesome they are, so priceless, so gorgeous, so flawless, so spotless... they're beyond your reach, showing off what fashion they have, products they own and won't you try and join them buy buying similar products. There's a few hints potentially questioning it all. Do you feel like a monster? Hypnotize, make it dizzy. By they end you've been entranced and you're done for.

While "heroes" may sound a bit goofy, we also tend to have a very bright and colorful image associated with that type of word in general. "Vigilantes" makes us think about the Batman types of heroes in particular, which happens to match Dreamcatcher's darker concepts (plus, they get to still use the visual spiel of having the word start with V and ending with S alongside "VersuS")

I Miss You is difficult to find info on, but I believe it was simply their Japanese debut release and not a fan song. It sits in the same category as Endless Night, although the chronology is difficult to manage there.

I have been crazy in love with ootd since the day of its release!! The best music!! When others do this kind of vibe music with no real meaning, they are called "badass" "confident" "villain vibes" whereas when Dreamcatcher did it but with actual real message to give to people, they receive such a backlash from people.. So much of hate for this comeback that time omg I still remember. Ootd is a real gem if you understand the concept. And infact the whole concept, infact album name itself contained the name "Villains" which clearly shows the motive of such a song. I'm done with people. I demand a special album with all of the songs from Tree of language, Lose myself, and then Endless night, No more and Rose blue, with Dongie. It is necessary! I know she's sang them in concerts and events, but there should be a re-recording, adding Handong's parts.
Rose blue is a collaboration so they likely can't make any changes there especially since it was produced by ESTi on the collaborator's side. The Japanese tracks likely also would have similar problems produced by Pony Canyon and they no longer have a relationship with them. The rest the could definitely do a repackage on if they wanted.

Why is no one talking about the editing?? They seriously leveled up their game to a whole new level, it looks like a music video by one of the big companies... they deserve a raise!!
The way I see OOTD has at least three layers - Superficial, Satirical and Story layer. The first is the most obvious which is the self-empowering, confidence boosting "we are beautiful, successful, rich and famous" kind of message. JiU calls herself Venus, a goddess and being literally "drop dead gorgeous" at the end.. And it is just soo over the top :D But the thing is they deserve it and could actually do it, but it is just not them. On a satirical layer this song is a huge middlefinger to the music industry in general and the superficial beauty where everything is all about the looks, everything staged and edited. The soundscape and parts of the M/V mimic generic girl crush concept sounds (what you do not really hear in the other 70+ songs DreamCatcher has) and the M/V redraw parts of other M/Vs. Posing with cool Cars and Motorcycles (Siyeon - Sua), doing commercial and product placement (Gahyeon), just posing looking fabulous with high fashion (Handong and JiU wearing Dior), making fake drama for more views (Yoohyeon) etc. The rap section is told from the perspective of an idol how many of them act after getting some fame. And for all the previous pictures they empathize that those are fake, and show how they actually look from behind the scene. Handong with the bruises, JiU like a boxed product, the Yoohyeon drama that ends right after the cut and the behind the scene footage and rendering shots for the other three. They also incorporate really short cuts to ensure we do not take them seriously, like the face Handong makes, Yoohyeon burst into a laughter throughout the final chorus, Siyeon laughing etc. Also the "Look at my necklace" (that she is not wearing), "look at my black dress" while wearing street fashion... Now for this satirical layer they had to adjust a bit their delivery and this is what makes this track different and this is why many who love the Dreamcatcher signature sound complain. First they wanted to not just look but to sound a bit like a traditional K-Pop girl crush song. And those filters and distortions and tuning that make a not so great singer sound good actually take a bit away from parts as we can hear their natural voice less as normally they do not use it since they are such great singers and do not need it... Also they deliberately used lifeless robotic delivery through the "OOTD this my fashion shut up no more question", like OOTD is the only thing that matters, they have no opinion about anything else, do not ask them about anything else as this is the robotic answer you get. In the final chorus they are almost laughing while singing to highlight the sarcasm. Also the overly playful mocking tone of the "I am only doing better". All in all ppl complaining about why the track is different most probably miss this layer. And finally there is the story layer where OOTD is the 1st part of a duology. Dreamcatcher members here are the villains who lure poor Shasha (the protagonist of the video, working as a video editor or graphical artist) into some kind of an augmented reality experience looking for the "crown" (aka fame, success whatever). The analogy I think is the follow the white rabbit from Matrix (along with many other Matrix style references throughout the M/V). And to appeal to Shasha they play the role of being great and rich and successful aligning with the narcissisms of the satirical layer. The way I see the story starts when Sasha searches for Dreamcatcher videos and stumbles upon the mysterious Dreamchat where Archenemy (spelled backwards, the 99th victim of Dreamcather) tells her about the power of the crown that she should be looking for luring her into this VR game. She follows the crown (drawn at the back of the truck) and at the end finds it but falls a victim of Dreamcatcher becoming the 100th sacrifice hence completing the crown. JiU even refers herself as Nephthys who is actually the goddess of death, decay, and darkness, mother of Anubis and Shasha falls when JiU "places the crown" on her head. This lore is not in the video, there were some external clues to put together this part.
The hate that people have written about this song proves the message of this song. OOP- and coming back from Justice oohhh the meaning of this song has gotten deeper. Also, not liking every song does not make you any of less of a fan. Hating and bashing is and disguising that as "constructive criticism". Also, I think this song is kind of pushing the boundaries of "how can we make a dc song that's ALMOST not dc?" Pretty much (if that makes sense HAHA)
At first, we won't see it, but this whole MV and song is satire. Notice how they're "popping the champagne, look at my necklace, wearing a black dress" without holding a champagne, without wearing either a necklace or a black dress. Notice as well how they sound a bit lazy while singing those lines but they go all out while singing the pre-chorus and the bridge, lines that say "Rise, there's a spark everyday, celebrate your festival & express yourself more". Yes they may sound narcissistic but Dreamcatcher is actually making fun of fame & glamour without the industry realizing it. That's pretty fucking special. Also, even if the song is just a typical self confidence booster, after almost 7 years of being badasses, the girls have EARNED this confidence. And they make me proud to be a fan, as always.
I absolutely love how much the concept grows on us the more we recognize the satire. With everything considered, I think the only constructive criticism I may give the concept is that they could have benefited by being just a bit more over the top on the underlying sinister vibes that the message is supposed to portray (so perhaps make the satire just a bit more obvious rather than a slow burn). I'd imagine something like JiU's menacing smile at the end of BEcause or something more uncanny sprinkled throughout.

Something to consider: I think theyre doing something similar to what they did with BEcause. As in, taking a theme thats very popular in kpop (with BEcause it was upbeat love songs, with OOTD its girl crush confidence anthems) and pushing that theme until it becomes toxic/obsessive for the singer. They mentioned in pr statements for this cb that they wanted to explore the concept of confidence turning into narcissism. I think its really cool to do that with kpop, which is a culture thats really obsessive and profits from it
They will never make me hate OOTD. Justice is good, but OOTD could've been the real deal if Insomnia didn't sabotage their own favourite group. One thing is to not like a song, another thing is to trash talk about it on social platforms and to destroy a promotion and entire comeback just because "it's different". Their entire discography is different and unique, OOTD is part of that discography either you like it or not but at least respect the group.
Nah we don't consider them real insomnias man. Such people can only be called fans that come and go. A dedicated fandom, insomnia loves to understand the concept, the motive, the storyline of the album! Like we did with nightmare era. Real insomnias would never do that to our Dreamcatcher! @@manniedecozta2403 I kinda agree, real insomnia never hated the song, they didn't like it and went next. But still the consequences of this songs can still be felt. Nowadays there are a lot of controversies around DCC making cheap and little content and having a bad promotion of the new album. I think their budget went very low after OOTD, they invested a lot in this concept and got nothing out of it in the end, with streaming numbers worse than nugu groups. Now they have to make up for the losses and try to regain it's popularity but it feels too late.. Real fans will always support them, but we are getting smaller every comeback and one day we will not be enough...
Now now, with this release and the responses it evokes, we can assume that musically, DC attracts more or less 5 kinds of fan: 1. The ones intrigued with rock-flavored K-Pop. They probably 50-70% love OOTD. Their favorite title track might be one of the Dystopia title tracks. 2. The ones that love dramatic ups-and-downs and melancholic progressions. They are probably a bit disappointed with OOTD but very much in love with Deja Vu and Demian. 3. The ones curious to find what hard-hitting rock elements DC incorporate into their songs. Their favorite track might be PIRI, VISION, What, Endless Night, or Don't Light My Fire. 4. The ones who are caught by the J-Pop influence. Their favorite song might be one of DC's early releases or Rose Blue or Bon Voyage. 5. The ones who are open to ride just ANY kind of experiment. They're pretty impressed with OOTD but not exactly ecstatic about it. Their favorite EDM-flavored DC song might be Silent Night or Propose. Each person may overlap tho. Fr, this comeback is amazing after a few listen, the different song structure caught me off guard, but it's really very cool to hear all the minor details in the instrumentations which is what I always love about their songs.

I think OOTD is really quite genius for (at least) 2 reasons: number 1: you can enjoy it 2 ways 1. the first impression, self-love way (more mainstream appropriate) and 2. take the time and figure out the underlying meaning, finding all those dark details (in both the lyrics, the music and the mv) number 2: reason number 1 reflects EXACTLY the deeper meaning: a lot of people take things superficially at face value and ignore the dark side of the "perfect" world they so admire and like that allow their own and celebrities exploitation They didn't just spell the message out but instead are challenging our critical thinking.
It's just a matter of taste. My favorite song from the album "VillainS" is "Shatter", and I'm pretty lonely on that one. But so what? To each his own. And everyone is happy. The main thing is Dreamcatcher.
To anyone who is curious about what happened to Ymenehcra - there were 7 usb's which were given to insomnia who went to a certain café and ordered "the crown". Those usb's contain audio files. When combined, you get a short conversation between the members. Turns out that they are luring others, one of which was Ymenehcra, the 99th person. Now they only need one more sacrifice to complete the crown. That's Shasha, the 100th person.

People complained when they said that they are only sticking to their rock concept that "no one likes". People complained that they never switch it up. People now complaining when they do switch it up. People will complain that they didn't stick to their rock concept. Aside from all the lore that permeates the video, at a simple level, we're watching an MV that portrays the production of an MV. So, we're watching Dreamcatcher producing an MV where they're acting as a typical Kpop group and we see the real Dreamcatcher when it cuts and shows behind the scenes. This just reinforces the style choices of the song and the MV within the MV and the reasons why they were done that way to support the lore. Even so, their version of a typical Kpop group sound is still very much Dreamcatcher sounding, since while they veered into a Girl Crush sound, there aren't much if any actual Girl Crush groups that sound like this song. You'd likely have to delve more into boy groups for that search.
I mean they are allowed to not like the song. But this regrettable that these who dislike ootd sm may not realize what was the purpose here. Dreamcatcher delivered us a duology full of contrasts, Villains VS virtuous heroes. Our Villiains are fake. They maintain a perfect image so they can get their hands on the crown. Their preoccupations include their ootd. Our heroes fight for their values that include justice. The justice sound is closer to what Dreamcatcher delivered to us over the years VS Ootd's newer sound that aligns more with trends (without losing the Dreamcatcher flavour!!!).

Dami might be the "villain" for their next comeback, I've spotted some suspicious and noteworthy comments. 1. It's weird that she is not seen with any other members aside from dancing. You can see HD/YH, SY/SU, JI/GH, GH/SU but not a single member was with Dami. 2. At the intro, you can see all 6 members' photos upon searching Dreamcatcher, but Dami is not a part of it. They could've found photos smaller to fit, but it was strange why they didn't. 3. Dami is not seen behind the scenes? You can see members fixing themselves or talking to the staff behind the scenes. 4. It's also noteworthy that she only has one set. And she does not have any photoshoots. I do not follow the lore properly, so all of these are just my speculations 😓Anyways, congrats Dreamcatcher for having a successful comeback!

I am really really enjoying this new comeback. One a surface level, this song is pure vibes (and as a side note, enjoying a song this way is perfectly valid. Don’t yuck other people’s yums) - still maintaining the faithfulness to their rock sound whilst exploring different genres with it. And the surface level lyrics in the chorus are honestly a really fun “love yourself”. However, it’s really easy (or should be) to see the deeper message and the set up of a new piece of lore-building. Through the MV and its displays of (evil) editing, photoshops, green screens and behind the scenes we are asked to consider “how real is this message? Is the message still valid at the cost of what goes into the production?” Also, who is the ‘villain’? Is it the girls, breaking free? Is it the production company, who organise all of this? Is it a fake or obsessed fan set in the MV world? Or is it us, the audience, who find it all too easy to recriminate and judge when DC don’t meet our self-imposed standards and ideals rather than judging each piece of work on its own qualities? (Gosh I wrote a lot!!! Haha! Well, I just do really like this new release)

There's also something going on with a crown in this MV, several mentions of it in background text and it seems to glitch out reality (or this fits in with the evil editing you mentioned). On the surface this just looks like a badass era but there's definitely more to this than meets the eye
@@purpleabsol2115 The editing is because Sasha was in a trance. She was editing this mv but because of the state that she was in, she put crown everywhere and just sent it to dcc (company c). We can also see how she comunicate with someone that impersonates ymenehcra (but it isn't her/him because she/he were already sacrificed in that moment)

I am ashamed to admit to being an Insomnia who was disappointed in this comeback until I listened to Justice and realize the true meaning behind the song.
I’m a fairly new InSomnia and OOTD is my first Dreamcatcher comeback; So I’m currently doing a full deep dive into them i.e I’m watching all their videos from the start and right now I’m at the “What” era and while I was watching the “What” MV I saw that there’s a burning crown at the 3min mark of the MV, and I was wondering if there’s any significance/correlation of the burning crown in “What” MV to the crown in “OOTD” MV?

For my current favorite B-sides from their older albums right now it’s between Emotion(I did not expect a soft song from them but their voices on it is so good) Sleep-Walking(also wasn’t expecting that kind of sound from them either but it’s just so good) Wonderland(the “hush hush hush” part is so addicting!) & July 7th (love the reggae vibe[also wasn’t expecting that sound from them as well] and also the fact HanDong sung a lot in it.) HanDong is my main bias in the group(I fell in love with her voice when I watched her “Remember Me” Special Clip with Jiu, she has a very emotive voice) Jiu/Sua are my 2nd biases but I’m OT7. I’m loving the group dynamics with each other it’s really endearing. Overall I’ve been pleasantly surprised by their music being so diverse, prior to my deep dive the thing I always heard/came across regarding Dreamcatcher’s sound is “anime music” which I found out that wasn’t the case. Side note: I was honestly surprised by the energy/vibe(I absolutely love it) HanDong gave off in OOTD it felt like she was just oozing confidence(I started my deep dive a bit before OOTD got released so I was used to a reserved HanDong(I think it’s cause she’s not used to speaking Korean proficiently yet) but in some Dreamcatcher Note’s and older Vlives here and there I noticed her have some crackhead energy and she’s honestly hilarious, can’t predict what she’ll say. Lastly I’m sorry for the paragraphs and thank you, I’m glad to join the Dreamcatcher world! 😁
So many years other group try to utilize Dreamcatcher concept but always lack in certain area. But dreamcatcher play uno reverses card when they try mainstream concept they always doing extra effort, like putting rock flavour music, cohesive theme, in depth story and lore, top of the line vocal with less processing sound, hard hitting choreography they make sure fill up the check mark even with small detailing. Everyone in this industry is talented but just some went extra mile to maximize their potential and Insomnia glad Dreamcatcher is in that category. 😘👏🏼👏🏼

The more I watch this video, the more details I find that make it obvious it's an ironic/shout out to the negative sides of the music industry and social media. I mean... the constant editing and re-editing of pictures, the planned/fake fights (handong and yoohyeon), also are those "bruises" on handong's legs once you see her whole body 0:55?!! The video makes some lines have a completely different meaning. Like "gonna catch your attention, then wait till you know" or "ootd this my fashion, shut up, no more questions" ---> we enjoy and consume and sometimes envy people over pictures and videos we constantly see on our feeds, that we ignore or even choose to ignore the "darker" side behind them. Which could either be exploitation, faking a smile everyday, narcissism, addictions ("driving on the highway, drunken everyday"), and..... oh god. Also "OOTD" could reference fast fashion, although I see it more like a "you like my facade today, you'll probably hate me tomorrow". Which makes the video a paradox itself seeing the reactions of some people after 1 listen lol.

Some thoughts...
In the MV it's showing design, editing, production of photo shoots / mv all throughout. The song is calling out satirically the Aggressive Narcissistic Extravagance that many put on display when gaining more success and showing the production helps illustrate that it's all just a production by design and not necessarily real.
Such as the break in the middle where Handong is fighting Yoohyeon, but cut... and Handong's true self helps up Yoohyeon, separating them from what is being portrayed in the mv. The lyrics are satirically like many pop songs where they just brag about how awesome they are, so priceless, so gorgeous, so flawless, so spotless... they're beyond your reach, showing off what fashion they have, products they own and won't you try and join them buy buying similar products. There's a few hints potentially questioning it all. Do you feel like a monster? Hypnotize, make it dizzy. By they end you've been entranced and you're done for.

I have been crazy in love with ootd since the day of its release!! The best music!! When others do this kind of vibe music with no real meaning, they are called "badass" "confident" "villain vibes" whereas when Dreamcatcher did it but with actual real message to give to people, they receive such a backlash from people.. I know she's sang them in concerts and events, but there should be a re-recording, adding Handong's parts.
Rose blue is a collaboration so they likely can't make any changes there especially since it was produced by ESTi on the collaborator's side.
The Japanese tracks likely also would have similar problems produced by Pony Canyon and they no longer have a relationship with them.

Just saw this the first time now, the editing is amazing!
The way I see OOTD has at least three layers - Superficial, Satirical and Story layer. The first is the most obvious which is the self-empowering, confidence boosting "we are beautiful, successful, rich and famous" kind of message. JiU calls herself Venus, a goddess and being literally "drop dead gorgeous" at the end.. And it is just soo over the top :D But the thing is they deserve it and could actually do it, but it is just not them.
On a satirical layer this song is a huge middlefinger to the music industry in general and the superficial beauty where everything is all about the looks, everything staged and edited. The soundscape and parts of the M/V mimic generic girl crush concept sounds (what you do not really hear in the other 70+ songs DreamCatcher has) and the M/V redraw parts of other M/Vs. Posing with cool Cars and Motorcycles (Siyeon - Sua), doing commercial and product placement (Gahyeon), just posing looking fabulous with high fashion (Handong and JiU wearing Dior), making fake drama for more views (Yoohyeon) etc. The rap section is told from the perspective of an idol how many of them act after getting some fame. And for all the previous pictures they empathize that those are fake, and show how they actually look from behind the scene. Handong with the bruises, JiU like a boxed product, the Yoohyeon drama that ends right after the cut and the behind the scene footage and rendering shots for the other three. They also incorporate really short cuts to ensure we do not take them seriously, like the face Handong makes, Yoohyeon burst into a laughter throughout the final chorus, Siyeon laughing etc. Also the "Look at my necklace" (that she is not wearing), "look at my black dress" while wearing street fashion...
Now for this satirical layer they had to adjust a bit their delivery and this is what makes this track different and this is why many who love the Dreamcatcher signature sound complain. First they wanted to not just look but to sound a bit like a traditional K-Pop girl crush song. And those filters and distortions and tuning that make a not so great singer sound good actually take a bit away from parts as we can hear their natural voice less as normally they do not use it since they are such great singers and do not need it... Also they deliberately used lifeless robotic delivery through the "OOTD this my fashion shut up no more question", like OOTD is the only thing that matters, they have no opinion about anything else, do not ask them about anything else as this is the robotic answer you get. In the final chorus they are almost laughing while singing to highlight the sarcasm. Also the overly playful mocking tone of the "I am only doing better". All in all ppl complaining about why the track is different most probably miss this layer.
And finally there is the story layer where OOTD is the 1st part of a duology. Dreamcatcher members here are the villains who lure poor Shasha (the protagonist of the video, working as a video editor or graphical artist) into some kind of an augmented reality experience looking for the "crown" (aka fame, success whatever). The analogy I think is the follow the white rabbit from Matrix (along with many other Matrix style references throughout the M/V). And to appeal to Shasha they play the role of being great and rich and successful aligning with the narcissisms of the satirical layer.
The way I see the story starts when Sasha searches for Dreamcatcher videos and stumbles upon the mysterious Dreamchat where Archenemy (spelled backwards, the 99th victim of Dreamcather) tells her about the power of the crown that she should be looking for luring her into this VR game. She follows the crown (drawn at the back of the truck) and at the end finds it but falls a victim of Dreamcatcher becoming the 100th sacrifice hence completing the crown. JiU even refers herself as Nephthys who is actually the goddess of death, decay, and darkness, mother of Anubis and Shasha falls when JiU "places the crown" on her head. This lore is not in the video, there were some external clues to put together this part.

The hate that people have written about this song proves the message of this song. OOP- and coming back from Justice oohhh the meaning of this song has gotten deeper. Also, not liking every song does not make you any of less of a fan. Hating and bashing is and disguising that as "constructive criticism". Also, I think this song is kind of pushing the boundaries of "how can we make a dc song that's ALMOST not dc?" Pretty much (if that makes sense HAHA)
At first, we won't see it, but this whole MV and song is satire. Notice how they're "popping the champagne, look at my necklace, wearing a black dress" without holding a champagne, without wearing either a necklace or a black dress. Notice as well how they sound a bit lazy while singing those lines but they go all out while singing the pre-chorus and the bridge, lines that say "Rise, there's a spark everyday, celebrate your festival & express yourself more".
Yes they may sound narcissistic but Dreamcatcher is actually making fun of fame & glamour without the industry realizing it. That's pretty fucking special. Also, even if the song is just a typical self confidence booster, after almost 7 years of being badasses, the girls have EARNED this confidence. And they make me proud to be a fan, as always.
I absolutely love how much the concept grows on us the more we recognize the satire. With everything considered, I think the only constructive criticism I may give the concept is that they could have benefited by being just a bit more over the top on the underlying sinister vibes that the message is supposed to portray (so perhaps make the satire just a bit more obvious rather than a slow burn). I'd imagine something like JiU's menacing smile at the end of BEcause or something more uncanny sprinkled throughout.

Something to consider: I think theyre doing something similar to what they did with BEcause. As in, taking a theme thats very popular in kpop (with BEcause it was upbeat love songs, with OOTD its girl crush confidence anthems) and pushing that theme until it becomes toxic/obsessive for the singer. They mentioned in pr statements for this cb that they wanted to explore the concept of confidence turning into narcissism. I think its really cool to do that with kpop, which is a culture thats really obsessive and profits from it

Nowadays there are a lot of controversies around DCC making cheap and little content and having a bad promotion of the new album. I think their budget went very low after OOTD, they invested a lot in this concept and got nothing out of it in the end, with streaming numbers worse than nugu groups. Now they have to make up for the losses and try to regain it's popularity but it feels too late.. Real fans will always support them, but we are getting smaller every comeback and one day we will not be enough...

Now now, with this release and the responses it evokes, we can assume that musically, DC attracts more or less 5 kinds of fan:
1. The ones intrigued with rock-flavored K-Pop. They probably 50-70% love OOTD. Their favorite title track might be one of the Dystopia title tracks.
2. The ones that love dramatic ups-and-downs and melancholic progressions. They are probably a bit disappointed with OOTD but very much in love with Deja Vu and Demian.
3. The ones curious to find what hard-hitting rock elements DC incorporate into their songs. Their favorite track might be PIRI, VISION, What, Endless Night, or Don't Light My Fire.
4. The ones who are caught by the J-Pop influence. Their favorite song might be one of DC's early releases or Rose Blue or Bon Voyage.
5. The ones who are open to ride just ANY kind of experiment. They're pretty impressed with OOTD but not exactly ecstatic about it. Their favorite EDM-flavored DC song might be Silent Night or Propose.

I think OOTD is really quite genius for (at least) 2 reasons:
number 1: you can enjoy it 2 ways 1. the first impression, self-love way (more mainstream appropriate) and 2. take the time and figure out the underlying meaning, finding all those dark details (in both the lyrics, the music and the mv)
number 2: reason number 1 reflects EXACTLY the deeper meaning: a lot of people take things superficially at face value and ignore the dark side of the "perfect" world they so admire and like that allow their own and celebrities exploitation

When combined, you get a short conversation between the members. Turns out that they are luring others, one of which was Ymenehcra, the 99th person. Aside from all the lore that permeates the video, at a simple level, we're watching an MV that portrays the production of an MV.
So, we're watching Dreamcatcher producing an MV where they're acting as a typical Kpop group and we see the real Dreamcatcher when it cuts and shows behind the scenes. This just reinforces the style choices of the song and the MV within the MV and the reasons why they were done that way to support the lore.
Even so, their version of a typical Kpop group sound is still very much Dreamcatcher sounding, since while they veered into a Girl Crush sound, there aren't much if any actual Girl Crush groups that sound like this song. You'd likely have to delve more into boy groups for that search.

Dreamcatcher delivered us a duology full of contrasts, Villains VS virtuous heroes. Our Villiains are fake. They maintain a perfect image so they can get their hands on the crown. Their preoccupations include their ootd. Our heroes fight for their values that include justice. The justice sound is closer to what Dreamcatcher delivered to us over the years VS Ootd's newer sound that aligns more with trends (without losing the Dreamcatcher flavour!!!).

Dami might be the "villain" for their next comeback, I've spotted some suspicious and noteworthy comments.
1. It's weird that she is not seen with any other members aside from dancing. You can see HD/YH, SY/SU, JI/GH, GH/SU but not a single member was with Dami.
2. At the intro, you can see all 6 members' photos upon searching Dreamcatcher, but Dami is not a part of it. They could've found photos smaller to fit, but it was strange why they didn't.
3. Dami is not seen behind the scenes? You can see members fixing themselves or talking to the staff behind the scenes.
4. It's also noteworthy that she only has one set. And she does not have any photoshoots.

I am really really enjoying this new comeback.
One a surface level, this song is pure vibes (and as a side note, enjoying a song this way is perfectly valid. Don’t yuck other people’s yums) - still maintaining the faithfulness to their rock sound whilst exploring different genres with it. And the surface level lyrics in the chorus are honestly a really fun “love yourself”.
However, it’s really easy (or should be) to see the deeper message and the set up of a new piece of lore-building. Through the MV and its displays of (evil) editing, photoshops, green screens and behind the scenes we are asked to consider “how real is this message? Is the message still valid at the cost of what goes into the production?” Also, who is the ‘villain’? Is it the girls, breaking free? Is it the production company, who organise all of this? Is it a fake or obsessed fan set in the MV world? Or is it us, the audience, who find it all too easy to recriminate and judge when DC don’t meet our self-imposed standards and ideals rather than judging each piece of work on its own qualities?

I’m a fairly new InSomnia and OOTD is my first Dreamcatcher comeback; So I’m currently doing a full deep dive into them i.e I’m watching all their videos from the start and right now I’m at the “What” era and while I was watching the “What” MV I saw that there’s a burning crown at the 3min mark of the MV, and I was wondering if there’s any significance/correlation of the burning crown in “What” MV to the crown in “OOTD” MV?

For my current favorite B-sides from their older albums right now it’s between Emotion(I did not expect a soft song from them but their voices on it is so good) Sleep-Walking(also wasn’t expecting that kind of sound from them either but it’s just so good) Wonderland(the “hush hush hush” part is so addicting!) & July 7th (love the reggae vibe[also wasn’t expecting that sound from them as well] and also the fact HanDong sung a lot in it.) HanDong is my main bias in the group(I fell in love with her voice when I watched her “Remember Me” Special Clip with Jiu, she has a very emotive voice) Jiu/Sua are my 2nd biases but I’m OT7. I’m loving the group dynamics with each other it’s really endearing.
Overall I’ve been pleasantly surprised by their music being so diverse, prior to my deep dive the thing I always heard/came across regarding Dreamcatcher’s sound is “anime music” which I found out that wasn’t the case.
Side note: I was honestly surprised by the energy/vibe(I absolutely love it) HanDong gave off in OOTD it felt like she was just oozing confidence(I started my deep dive a bit before OOTD got released so I was used to a reserved HanDong(I think it’s cause she’s not used to speaking Korean proficiently yet) but in some Dreamcatcher Note’s and older Vlives here and there I noticed her have some crackhead energy and she’s honestly hilarious, can’t predict what she’ll say.

But dreamcatcher play uno reverses card when they try mainstream concept they always doing extra effort, like putting rock flavour music, cohesive theme, in depth story and lore, top of the line vocal with less processing sound, hard hitting choreography they make sure fill up the check mark even with small detailing. i didn't like the song at first but the pre-chorus just made me come back so often i ended up liking the whole thing. dreamchatcher just aren't capable of making a bad song

Revisiting this song now that Siyeon, SuA, and Handong have all abruptly gone on hiatus. How did we go less than a year from a song criticizing some of the worst aspects of the music industry to what looks like Dreamcatcher suffering from overwork?
I have the same thoughts. I am so concerned about their health. I hope they get a good break for sometime. They have tours upcoming but they are unable to do fansigns, I'm so worried how will they manage tours like they are 100x times more exhausting! Idk man I thought Dcc was a good company comparatively to other kpop companies, why are they being so overworked?.. :"(

Basically, how fake and pointless the images seen in the entertainment industry are. Everything is edited and scripted to give this false narrative of endless wealth, glamour, and drama. It's all being edited. There's also a sub-story in the MV about what seems to be a secret group doing things to get a "crown" perhaps like a viral trend.@@xxaavviieerrrrr
@@xxaavviieerrrrr from what I see it's like showing them as untouchable, perfect etc. but at the same time the mv is also showing how a lot of this is all just editing/the reality/acting (I don't know 😭😭 my brain isn't big enough this is just what I get from this) - I see it as essentially the idea of appearance vs reality (this matches quite well with the album title of versus/villains )
