I have both Sonos and HiFi in my house. Sonos does the duty of discreet background sound in the bedroom, kitchen etc so I can stream in the background or radio. I have a Sonos Connect streamer in the living room which connects directly to my main hifi system so I can have my whole house playing the same music. The difference when you walk between rooms and listen with the Sonos Connect through my main system compared to the standard Sonos products in other rooms is quite apparent- the Sonos speakers sound muffled in comparison. Through my main system, even with the very basic Connect, the sound is nice and detailed. Overall I find Sonos is convenient, lifestyle relevant and great for everyone who just want to play their favourite songs. Whereas hifi is for listening - and apparently I’m the only one in my home who feels listening to the music is the fun part. I’m considering moving to BluOS with a NAD integrated streamer with Dirac for main room duties, with Blusound discreet speakers elsewhere, maybe a powernode mini system in another room. But that is a major cost hike over the Sonos.
Way better than it should be is my general impression of such products. Things have improved amazingly in recent years. But we hope that this younger generation won't rest on their laurels in pushing the industry to this level.
That’s a very handy endorsement of the product for me, as I want to keep my TV seperate from my Hi Fi, and my old Yamaha soundbar has just given up the ghost. I just wanted something half decent in sound quality for programme watching. This pairing seems to fit the bill. Cheers guys !
Wrong end of the telescope, boys! .. you’re right though .. it’s not a Hi-Fi product … it’s a HT one! That’s really where it’s origins lie. Add a couple of ONE SL’s for Rears, and you’ve got yourself a very decent 5.1 system 👍🍻👍
Sonos is perfect for non hifi people looking for something hifi ish. The Arc has an even wider soundstage. Adding rears frees up the beam to reproduce digital Atmos from it's side drivers. Still very impressive for the price.
Is it a good idea to go with Beam2 x2 ones SL and sub gen3 for the same prize as sub mini or take arc with the same set up for watching netflix on macbook pro and listening to music on iphone? i dont have a tv
The reality is.. the general public needs to understand that technology is changing. HiFi is not what it used to be. I know some would disagree but just my opinion
Always entertaining I do like to watch you two 'chew the fat', but I for one switched off as I'm here for hi fi. if your gonna cover this stuff, well your not for me.
Don't worry Tintin, this was very 'off piste' for us. Next week we have a world exclusive coming up, on an iconic budget audiophile product that's been reimagined and relaunched - so please tune in!
"We wouldn't normally consider this a hi-fi product..." "Yes, because it isn't". BOOM! Love it guys 😂
I appreciate the constructive critique and great review, thanks for sharing.
I find it refreshing that you tackle wider subject matter, such as this. It reflects the real world and it is very entertaining. Bravo!

"Don't let the wife hear it" 😆 Love it
You can add +2 one rear speaker and set the to full mode and the sound change drastically to a much better experience then the beam alone.
And that as a package satisfies most folks yaaay

I bought the Beam as a soundbar just for the telly and I agree it is pretty good (I dont have the sub, er yet).

Most entertaining episode to date. Excellent advice re “head to wine section” in John Lewis etc 😂 Keep it up fellas - great channel.
