Hi folks. Just found your channel, and calling in from Nz...have subscribed. Just a quick tip I found works. To keep cool in the Pacific Ocean heat, wearing a white t shirt doesn't really help. And even though being naked feels great, believe it or not, it's not the answer either. The ideal method is to soak your t shirt in fresh water, then put it back on. This system keeps you cool a lot longer than wetting your skin with seawater. For every 5 litres of fresh water you make, take out half litre and place in a lidded bucket. Keep doing that until you have about 2litres of fresh water. Btw, you can buy soap specifically formulated for salt water bathing. And dish washing liquid, that is easy on the skin, is great for washing hair in combination with salt water. There's always a risk the water maker can break down, that's why you need alternatives. Ok i see I have some binge watching to do, so as its raining, I have an excuse to stay inside. Thank you for sharing guys. Take care.
@@CalicoSkiesSailing Bill's battle with the boobies made me laugh. I can appreciate his frustration. No one wants bird poo all over their boat but poor boobies are in the middle of the ocean.
Awesome video. The spinnaker looks great. What beautiful sailing conditions. So peaceful, with the exception of the boobie bird. Thanks for sharing Bill and Grace.😃💝
Thanks for sharing. You maintain a very well organized boat! I am impressed. Usually during long passages chaos accumulates. Tight ship! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Glad to know you had some great relaxing sailing. Was totally praying for you 2. The new covering over your cockpit is giving you nice shade and protection. All of those upgrades were so helpful. So glad Bill is a fixer. You have to be a fixer to be on a sail ⛵. Maybe do a video on a recap of the 10 best upgrades to Calico which impacted the quality of your lives. Blessings
I’m really enjoying the in-depth passage coverage. You lose an important sail and then enjoy extended ideal conditions. Well done on both fronts - sailing and storytelling!👏👏❤️
Some long passage videos can be quite monotonous but you guys nailed it. Just the right mix of information, story telling and sailing. I especially liked the scene where Bill is putting up the kite, having to un-knot the lines etc..., great bit of editing there. You got the feel for the process at hand without being snooze inducing. Well done!
Your vivid depiction of the challenges and triumphs while crossing the Pacific Ocean in Part 3 is captivating. The joy of champagne sailing amidst the vast expanse is palpable in your storytelling. Your adventurous spirit and resilience shine through. And I am Floating Village Life, relishing your maritime journey.
As a charterer/racer line chafe is not something I think about. Other channels have mentioned it, but your recurring discussion of it is on point for cruisers. Hoping to launch a cruising lifestyle in the next few years and your lessons are so valuable. Thank you guys! Keep doing what you do!!!
Awesome passage. @9:44 that’s those gorgeous calico skies! As for the Code Zero, it’s a fantastic sail, but you end up using them so much that their light weight is their downfall. They age faster than other sails because they see lots of use while just being made of parachute nylon, whereas your Genoa, Main, and Working Jib are UV-resistant Dacron.
That’s exactly it with the sail, will be more of a wear item than Dacron. We could have gone polyester or laminate for the new one but we’d be sacrificing light air performance
INFO NYLON is HYDROPHILIC or likes WATER: This I discovered at the end of FERMI II construction as an electrician The construction was over many years and I noticed the old nylon tie wraps would crack like dry macaroni. In my curiosity, an engineer explained, if you boil the dry nylon for an hour or more, it will become soft again. Haven't tested the information, but with your year in the dry desert air with the sail in storage, the widespread failure matches that your sail got really thirsty! ❤ Thanks for the images of the Pacific deep Royal Blue; which I loved on our ship back from India. Oh! In rough weather, ping pong was even more challenging, as one would send the ball up hill against the opponent. A true ping pong demonstration of RELATIVITY: in a stronger storm, I had a high ball to slam the other side. I hit it hard, to see my straight slam, curve and go out the open port hole. That was how fast the ship rolled over my straight slammed ping pong ball! Needless to say, that was a freeze moment that we silently looked at each other in disbelief! That was the summer of 1964, when travel by ship was common. Navy 🇺🇸 veteran, Atlantic to Mediterranean with NATO many times, 2 squadrons, 3 ships, NAS Roosevelt Rhodes, Puerto Rico & helicopter crewman (3 yrs, 2 months sea duty out of 4 years). Wanted me to ship over with rank advancement, $8,000 to station in Antarctica. Figured there was a girl behind every tree, but discovered Antarctica doesn't have any trees. So, I go out of the Navy to marry a woman colder than Antarctica! 💕
What a change technology makes. From praying that 3 days of cloud cover would break, so I could get a noon shot. To AI plotting your boats sailing characteristics in real time. That is so neat. The Gordian knot at the end of your spinnaker pole was interesting. Maybe some small stuff lashed to the pole to separate and hold the coils in place?
Sure was Champagne Sailing. Fill me up please my glass is empty. How's the pressure to your shower is it strong or just a trickel. Hey Bill when are you going to tease the ladies with your shower scene lol. Really enjoyable video. And that's weird how line broke. Looking forward to next video.
do you guys feel sea sick because your looking backwards all the time. unless your at the wheel? what beautiful blue water. Thank goodness Bill you kept checking that sail.
Outstanding video guys. Gee Bill you seem to be a little hyper, talk in real fast your legs just a jumping, must be that champagne sailing. Lol. Stay safe out there God bless
Interestingly we did not ... most places we do eventually. But here and the Tuomotus (starting after 1 more video) we never, ever got used to the beauty.
Never liked that term champagne sailing hate fizzy wine give me a cold beer happy man. The piece and gentle roll of the sea on days like that do all the jobs you can because something will break when the weather changes. Sorry bit of a dampner.
Bill my brother I certainly hope you stopped filming to grab a bar of soap and help the wife out with her bath. I've been married for 25 years and I still go nuts when my wife gets naked.
Love seeing Grace healthy and happy and of course taking a shower
Felt like I was there with you watching the waves feeling the sun and soaking in the peace and quiet.
Soo happy to hear that, it was our goal!
Well…… this video is definitely going viral Grace 😮😂 I bet Bill found this really hard to vlog 😂😂
You guys still rock 💪👍
Sound and video quality is excellent .
Must say that I am really enjoying your passage videos.
👍
Glad to hear that!
Glad the UA-cam algorithm allowed that shower clip! Keep going you guys.
hahah
Such a peaceful episode! Thanks for sharing Bill and Grace! Love Saturday sailing with you!⛵💙

LOL - OMG - you two are so funny - pushing poopie boobie birds overboard in the dark of the night. Ha, ha, ha. Love it!
LOL its all Bill. I want the birds to be my pets! LOL

Thank you we love our new sails! So nice to have. Always in a battle with the birds haha. We need our solar panels clean for power
Cheers Calico - nice sailing
Thanks 👍
That segment that showed the blue of the sky plus the sail and the water was amazing.
Thank you!! Some glorious sailing conditions!

It’s seems a constant battle out there! Even with moving the lines a few inches every few hours still finds a way ha.
Wow that was so chill, really calmed me down today! Thanks folks 😊👏
So glad!
So refreshing. No T&A teasers, as on other sailing channels. Thank you!
Thank u!
Your attitudes are inspiring. I bet you guys are a blast to hang out with 😊
Thank you!!
I always hatted the squalls south of the equatorial currents.
Looks fun and adventures
Yea they certainly kept us on our toes!

Interesting in the nylon! And cool navy stories!
That water looks so nice.

yea its a crazy world these days. Not to mention high speed data across the entire ocean crossing. Yea created quite the rats nest for myself lol
That’s some eye candy. Your analytics is going to explode! 😂
Great video, presently sailing in Brazil, enjoying your adventures.
Great to hear! Brazil would be really cool to check out one day
Pretty nice sail. Stay safe!
well done guys - ooh i want an echo tech water maker...
It's been a good piece of gear for us, we installed it back in 2018
I'm so looking forward to splashing my own boat next fall.
Awesome!
5 or 6 days with nothing breaking or lack of mayhem, I’d start getting nervous.😅😂
😂 you and me both!!
Thanks for all your efforts
Our pleasure!
Thank you for another great video
Thanks for watching!
Groovy episode

😂 always trying to grow the channel not shrink it! The water pressure is pretty good, Grace doesn't put it on full blast to save water ha
Excellent passage video 🤩
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching
Thank you.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
❤ omg love watching you two...
thank you
I have to admit , I fast forward a bit 😉❤️
😂
do you guys feel sea sick because your looking backwards all the time. unless your at the wheel? what beautiful blue water. Thank goodness Bill you kept checking that sail.
Ha we don’t! But it’s funny sailors seem to always be facing backwards haha
14:20 14:28 14:40 This woman's body, the beauty of her face and her fire are killing me😘😘😘🔥🔥🔥🔥
13:35 Luke Ish Warm is a good name for a country singer
😛
Nice
Bill please take an hour, walk around the deck, untangle and belay all the lines.
Yep we do daily walk around the deck checking out the standing and running rigging. Not sure what happened to the pole control lines 😂
Outstanding video guys. Gee Bill you seem to be a little hyper, talk in real fast your legs just a jumping, must be that champagne sailing. Lol. Stay safe out there God bless
hahaha i think extreme sleep deprivation, didn't get much sleep on that passage😂
😎😎👍👍❤❤
Why did you set the pole out to the right? Is another sail going there later?
Yes when we drop down the kite we will run wing on wing with the jib and main
At what point does one stop after starting?
Interestingly we did not ... most places we do eventually. But here and the Tuomotus (starting after 1 more video) we never, ever got used to the beauty.
🧿👍

not a damper is reality, nothing lasts forever on the ocean
STOP TALKING OVER EACH OTHER!!
That’s what couples do, you must be single 😏
LOL
Bill my brother I certainly hope you stopped filming to grab a bar of soap and help the wife out with her bath. I've been married for 25 years and I still go nuts when my wife gets naked.
Well now some of us out here need a cold shower😳😳😳
📬 WindScoop and shoes for walking in shallows or sand
really need good shoes here in the Tuamotos
