I agree but the Christian faith emphasises faith and Abraham is praised for his willingness to sacrifice his son although he was stopped in the nick of time. The Old Testament is filled with examples of God telling people to kill people for one thing or another including committing genocide. I agree people should question any voice in their head that says its God. People think God has guided them to this or that or spoken to them. It's wrong but it's what a lot of people believe. The bombing of abortion clinics is something almost no one of any religion would ever do but unfortunately when a religion teaches that God speaks to people and has as much bloodshed as The Old Testament contains it is going to sadly result in some awful stuff. Plus I suppose the notion of the sacrificing people for the greater good eg lots of innocent people are killed in wars does send a message that the ends justify the means. It's appalling killing abortion doctors but in their minds it's justified and they are protecting the innocent from killers. I agree it's horrible and can't be allowed to happen though. I guess it's like stopping terrorists. If someone thinks doing the wrong thing is in fact the right thing change their minds is hard.

And that's what they did despite them not being a law making body. Sure, they have an effect on laws via interpretation but this was creating a law with the weakest constitutional support they could find, which does not stand up to the weakest scrutiny" for something the constitution does not discuss. And it had taken 50 years for the court to grow a spine and consider reversing the deadlock they created on the people and the representatives to make their own laws. The fact that this is still just as contentious shows how significantly the 1973 court erred and made itself a political body. It's also pretty interesting that despite the hundreds of petitions to the supreme Court to consider limiting or overruling Roe, the many times Democrats had full control over government they never took the time to codify roe into actual law instead of just a court precedent that acted like one.

Not all families are family. The mother didn’t do well in life, but at least she did good knowing that she wasn’t good enough for them to raise them, that she was a dark person. She never spoke to her birth mother, which is her right, & then she refused to forgive that same mother, also her right under "free agency." As I see it, she turns out to be the victim she claimed not to be. I see a book deal in the making, which again is "Baby Roe's" right to do; however, two wrongs don't make a right.

And that means providing care and economic support for them and the parent. And conservatives want to turkey stuff their gullets about protecting the baby’s rights to life while denying them healthcare and access to food and affordable shelter. I’m pro-life, but the buck doesn’t stop there. Most women seeking abortions are economically disadvantaged. I don’t like abortions nor the idea of them, but I’d never have so little compassion to force a woman, against her will, to give birth and then abandon her and her child to their own devices. If I’m not willing to *personally* take responsibility for them, then accept the fact that it’s her body and her decision. I really don’t think the U.S will have a good support system for mothers and kids any time soon, so the best alternative becomes safe, free and easy contraceptives/education and access to abortions if it has to come down to that. She's also merely *reporting* the strong, emotional ways, including the violence, in which the opposing sides have reacted over the years to a very divisive issue, where each side believes the other is wrong. It's not bias to calmly report what both sides have done & just let the viewers decide what to think about it. That's what a professional journalist is supposed to do. She referenced abortion clinics have been bombed, abortionists have been killed. She said nothing to imply she applauded or condemned those acts. Some younger viewers may not be aware that happened at all. Those acts were mentioned in context of the line of questioning of the subject. Iow, did those acts affect her? Did she feel responsible? *You* seem angry that the reporter did not express an opinion that validates yours, so you are accusing *her* of bias. *You* may have grown so accustomed to reporters who push agendas & withhold facts that might undermine those agendas, that you are disappointed when a reporter doesn't validate your opinions by doing those things, so you are mixing up her neutrality with your own bias. FWIW, & fyi, I am formerly pro-choice, now pro-life, and I neither applaud nor feel responsible for any acts of terrorism. Also I worked in news media years ago, so I know a few things about the way journalists are supposed to do things. This reporter was doing her job, unlike most reporters are doing today. I can remember when top journalist Tim Russert dropped dead of a heart attack. For years I'd watched his hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners interviews on Meet the Press. It was only when he died that I learned he was a lifelong Democrat. Watching him work, I'd had no clue. He asked the questions the public wanted to know, & when the subjects were lying or evading, he nailed them every time, didn't matter whether Dem or Repub. We need more like that.

I’m pro-CHOICE/pro-LIFE. Abortion isn’t a choice. It’s a lifestyle of the death culture. My OB/GYN was a former abortionist who worked hard in the pro-life movement. RvW was an unconstitutional legislation from the bench. It had nothing to do with the Constitution.
Of course the reporter didn’t validate anyone’s opinions. They aren’t supposed to validate you. They are there to “report” not manipulate the “NEWS” which she did.

There are people in the comments here stating things to the effect of “I was almost aborted, I’m so glad I wasn’t, I love life and I love being alive”.
That sentiment isn’t bad, but it only tells people one type of story and one string of emotions.
I like being alive, not all the time, but I’m not suicidal by any means. I don’t wish for death. I don’t regret being alive. I love music and flowers and poetry and powerlifting, I care for my family greatly, I try to cherish everything in life I can, I look to the future and I don’t see a blackening tunnel.
My mother, however, didn’t like being alive and she didn’t like me being alive either.
I was raised in a household where I wasn’t wanted, if I chose to be anything but a figurative doll to dress up and play with, I was treated as if I were less important than everything and everyone else around me.
This carried on until I ran away and I haven’t looked back since.
I’m in a much better place now albeit, but I still wish my mother had the option to abort me, and I wish everyone in the place of possibly being a mother had that option as well.
I could’ve gone to a loving home, I could’ve been given up into the arms of people who wouldn’t have treated me in a damaging way. I could’ve lived a life far from the one I did.
I didn’t though, and I will never get my pained childhood, nor the years I spent after patching up what shouldn’t have been broken in the first place, back.
It’s good I’m here now, but no one should be forced to have a child they don’t want, no child should be brought into a home that doesn’t want them from before their first breaths. Some might go into good homes, and that’s wonderful, but others won’t. That’s inevitable, yes, but it should be avoided as much as possible.
I’m one of the lucky ones, I chose to keep going, I chose to fix what my mother and the people around her broke. Not everyone chooses that route, not everyone comes out with scars; some come out of it with an ashy headstone.

I’m so sorry for what happened to you. I was a case where I should’ve been aborted (not only was I an affair child, I was quite literally killing my mom), but wasn’t. My mom survived and I was a “miracle child”. I didn’t grow up with the same abuse as you, but I lived with my dad for the most part and for a good majority of my life and I wished I was aborted. My dad blamed me for all of his short-comings and was verbally abusive. I never felt wanted and was kept distant from my entire family.
I need to talk to professionals, I still haven’t gotten to that point where I’ve gotten help yet, but everyone around me seems to think that I have some form of PTSD from what happened to me as a kid. I straight up cannot interact with children because it reminds me of my past and I get hostile.
I refuse to have kids until I get mental help. I’m too afraid that I’ll end up treating a child like how my dad treated me and continue that wretched cycle of abuse. If I were to get pregnant (which I likely wouldn’t considering I practice abstinence), I couldn’t bring myself to put a child up for adoption. It’s too much of a gamble. I would choose abortion if I had to.
You put it best: you were lucky, but a lot of us aren’t. Many unwanted children throw in the towel too early and give up on existing, and that’s a choice no one should have to make for themselves. I fear that would become a more frequent issue than it already is if mothers aren’t allowed to make the choice that’s right for them.
I hope that maybe one day I might feel healthy enough to start a family, give a child the good life I wish I had when I was their age. But until then, I have a strict “no having kids” policy lol
Congrats on breaking the cycle, I hope to be as strong as you one day.

My mother was 15 when she got pregnant with me. Abortion was illegal at the time and my father took advantage of her at a young age. She would have probably gotten an abortion. Family members that were catholic nurses ect said they could take her and let her have me and put me for adoption. My mother didnt want to give me up for adoption. She wanted to keep me if she was to carry me and give birth. It was a very difficult birth and she was hated in by medical staff ect. Shame was brought on the family ect because she was so young. My father and mother did marry. She is a very loving mother and I wouldn't trade her for the world. But, I know that she has a right to her choice. I completely agree with a woman having her right to choose. Im pro choice and pro life. The children that are alive today that have no one and who are abused and neglected are what I really worry about. Men need to be looked at in this too. Some may need to be jailed and some need to be castrated. No one spoke about the things that went on in families for a very very long time, but, when it did come out they always blamed the woman.

I was gonna say what Levi said tbh. Although I would add that "pro choice" does not equate to "pro abortion". Wanting abortion to be safe, rare, and legal is pro choice, not pro life. "Pro Life" is largely against letting women have that option (except in extreme circumstances, if you're lucky). There are loads of people out there who are solidly pro choice but would never think of having an abortion themselves. Loads of pro choice people who love kids and have several of their own. Loads of pro choice people who've never had an abortion. Loads of pro choice people who have had an abortion for a very wide variety of reasons. You really can't be both pro life and pro choice. Sad that the term Pro Choice has been so effectively demonized by the far right that people are afraid to even associate with it. It's a great tactic when trying to suppress the opposing side on an issue like this. If the Pro Life crowd can't get you to join them, they'd much rather you sit out on the sidelines. Otherwise you might go over and help those evil Pro Choice baby killers.
We need comprehensive sex ed in all public schools. No more of this abstinence only BS. No more of this misinformation and conveniently leaving out certain pieces of info. We need easier access to pregnancy prevention. We need access to safe, legal abortions and the decision should only be between a woman and her doctor. You are absolutely right about how we need to start holding men accountable. It takes two to create that pregnancy. 100% of pregnancies are caused by the male orgasm. A woman just got sent to prison in Oklahoma for doing drugs while pregnant. Ok. Now where's the dude who knocked her up? Sounds like he was also acting irresponsibly. He played an equal part in making that happen. Maybe he should have thought twice before having unprotected sex with someone who's addicted to drugs.

What needs to change as well is a woman’s right for sterilization. It took 12 pregnancies: 2 live births, 2 abortions for medical necessity, 1 abortion for rape, 6 first trimester losses and one stillbirth as well as two years of seeing 10 doctors to even get approved to get my tubes removed. I had my surgery 1 month before turning 30 with my last miscarriage taking place in May of 2020.
Give us rights to our own bodies, let PP hand out free or low cost contraception and education and let women have the right to be sterilized in addition to having programs in place for mothers and families without so much red tape and we will see reduced abortion rates.

I respect her for staying out of it. I myself am pro choice. My view is that it should be every woman's right to choose whether or not to have an abortion and it should be up until the fetus is considered viable (meaning it has reached a stage of development where it is capable of living, under normal conditions, outside the uterus). With laws like the one in texas (with the heartbeat act also known as the six week abortion ban) it could potentially make it really tough for women in Texas who have things like PCOS (and thus have irregular cycles and wouldn't be aware if they missed a period, aka one of the earliest signs of pregnancy) to have access to abortion because they might find out they're pregnant after it's too late for them to get an abortion.
Basically banning or placing extremely restrictive time limits on abortion really fucks over many women.

@@zetavalentine Well, first of all, you said "a woman should only get an abortion when she physically can't handle carrying a baby, including rape cases". That is simply not true. Most women could theoretically still carry to term, the fact that she was raped doesn't represent a threat to her health. Sure, she would be shocked and horrified, but from a medical perspective she could still give birth. Therefore, I'm not sure why you're justifying abortions when the woman is raped. I feel like it's because you think it wasn't her fault, therefore it's her choice whether she wants to carry to term. That means you have some old-fashioned view of sex, and believe women should not engage in casual sex. That is fine, I don't have any issue with that, but you can't justify some abortions and say others are wrong. The reason people fight to keep abortion legal is because it is a human right, it's their body that is keeping the fetus live. Now, I personally don't believe in objective morality. I don't think there is always a right and wrong, and practicality is always preferable to morality (this one is always subjective). I'm ok with people disliking abortions, no matter the reason, but I do have a problem when you try to make what you think is "wrong" illegal for everyone else. I'm an atheist and anti-christian activist, but I never even thought about getting rid of religious freedom, or burning all churches.

      @theoneanddonly1212 2 роки тому +1

@@zetavalentine Hmm well, those cases tend to be extremely singular so it's hard to talk about all of them at once. The ones you mentioned (where both the mother and the baby might die) are uncommon, so I assume you're talking about ectopic pregnancies. But more often than not, only the mother's health is compromised, meaning she'll probably survive but with serious medical conditions. Even then, you technically couldn't justify an abortion, cause both the mother and the baby will survive. What I'm trying to say is that abortion bans are completely impractical, and the countries where abortion is banned often have more dangerous abortions (and overall) than those where it's legal. It may be weird to hear but abortions actually decrease in countries where it's legal.

Yet, right before our wedding I found out I was expecting. I tell my kids the truth. No, you weren’t planned, but you were no accident. You were an unexpected miracle. The moment I found out I was pregnant I experienced almost all emotions. Disbelief, fear, anxiety, nervousness, happy tears. I was TERRIFIED. But t I never felt disgust, disappointment, or wanting to terminate: I was scared to be a mother. I could barely take care of myself (medically), how was I supposed to love and care for a baby? Well, it came naturally and I had a loving husband and a good support system (before my kids I was never good with kids: they got on my nerves lol).
When I got pregnant with my daughter, it was dang near divine intervention lol. I used the following: family planning method, on the pill with no pills missed, a condom, and withdrawal (properly).(I had to work the next day and I didn’t want to worry about the “discharge”).
Did I mention I only had 1 ovary to boot? Lost one several months after birth of my son. So yeah, I think it was meant to be 🥰

It never crossed my mind to not have my kids. It was okay, I’m pregnant, we will figure this out. Got married, my 2 stepchildren moved in with us, and I had my babies, who are now teens.
What I’m trying to say is, even though I didn’t want kids, I got pregnant, loved them the moment I found out, and never looked back. I miscarried on 9-09-2009.(due date would’ve been March 2010)..so I should have a 3rd kiddo running around…but, I guess she (even though they never could tell me the sex of the baby, I knew in my heart) was not ready for the veil and not ready to be born yet. I am adopted, with a pro-life stance, coming from a pro-choice family (most of them). In my opinion there are a lot of factors to take into account.
For example, here in Spain where I live, foster families cannot adopt the foster children. Some people cannot even think about returning the kids to their families after raising them.
Also, in other cases, adoption centers have made it more about the income than about the emotional stability of the adoptant (is that a word?). If I want to adopt in my motherland, I have to move there for about 4 years when I already have a life here. And in Spain the waiting list is about 8 years. Some people have the endurance, some do not.
Governments should also spend money helping families in every sense as to avoid having so many children without their biological families.
I do not know any of the people that you mentionned, and I don't know why they do not adopt or foster, but know that a lot of pro-life do want to help and sometimes that help can come in other ways than just adopting.
