Tarptent's lightest one-person shelter. It is simple, trekking pole supported, and ready for adventure. For more info, visit our website: www.tarptent.com/protrail.html
NICE amount of fly hem stake tabs. Very necessary in high winds. Plus it keeps noise of flapping to a bare minimum - so you can sleep. Had the original Contrail. The Protrail is a better design. Personally I would use the included rear end pole and TWO trekking poles up front at each side of the fly to avoid a pole in the doorway. (One tip in the grommet, one pole handle beside it. Plus it's a stronger setup for high winds. Now I use a TT Moment DW and love it.
I want one of these Tarptent Protrails but price is out of my range if have any used ones look me up.... I like the design a lot ..... and only 4 stakes and inner stays dry when take down and setup ...I like easy tents and this one fits the bill ....
Very Clever Design. Can you give us the stats on the inner measurements. Also does it suffer condensation. Also what HH is the fly sheet and the floor and weight. TYVM. ATB Reeco
Little modifications?? You mean you rebuilt the tent. The zipper on the vestibule would be a must for me. It's difficult enough to close them with a zipper; trying to press that hook and loop closed from inside and get it secure would be really frustrating. I notice that's not shown in the video.
Having used this tent in essentially all weather but snow, I can assure you it's really easy. I also had hesitations about hook and loop for this. That said, I believe the updated model is magnetic which makes closing the vestibule a snap
I can't find a video of anyone actually using one of these, and my concern is the amount of space under the vestibule. Can it fit a large pack and keep it dry? Thinking of upgrading to this from my bivy to avoid pitching another tarp for my pack in the rain
Thanks for the tent love it ...
Just got the protrail and can't wait to get it out and put it to use
Love how he emphazises the poles from TAAARPTEEENT!!!!!!!
Nice set up I like it !

I like the looks of that
It's a light weight option, minimalist, completely bug and water proof.
Tarptent that would be good because we have mosquitoes here that look like pterodactyls
Tarptent I really like the looks of the bowfin also just watched that video
Great looking tent. Is it possible to set up on a rocky surface when inserting the stake into soft ground is not an option?
Best bet in that situation is using some big rocks to weigh down your ends.

What was the weight on this tent? I’m looking for a tent just not sure what design
Go to this page and click the "specs" tab to find all the information: www.tarptent.com/protrail.html
Can I use sticks and rocks if I don't have stakes?
Sure, same as all staked tents.

Agree. Deal breaker.
"Would be". So you haven't tried it? It's really not rocket science....

Of course it could. Just stand the pack up and lean it against the pole.
I kept my Osprey 55 liter dry with a little more gear and still enough room to squeeze past four exit. A little tight for sure but manageable
cool how much ? just to guess but you're selling these ?
225$ And these tents last a life time.
Do you have some problem with definite articles?
Just curious because it sounds really weird.
Don't like single door tents
We make lots of double side entrance models.
