I don't think Nintendo were involved in the joke. The only source is IGN. The fake headset actually exists and supports the Nintendo Labo VR cartridge and two other games.
That actually makes a lot of sense -- seems strange to be using another company as your joke post but I guess IGN has done stuff like this in the past.
