Absolutely loved it Rick. Was nice to see you with your family back home and everybody enjoying themselves. I know this was from awhile back ,but it was nice to put together some of the clips from past videos. Kinda like putting together a very large crossword puzzle. Loved the trip and the rest of the video. I think you guys are great .THANKS.

Hello Rick. I’ve just seen an old video of Lucky’all passing and was sad to hear that. Just watching this one and it makes me proud to see a fellow Canuck making it, as a sailor. I’m originally from Cape Breton and spent 14 years in the Navy, which had me end up on the west coast. I have been looking for a boat, but I feel spending time with other sailors on other boats, is what’s necessary. When this Covid thing ends, I’d love to have a conversation with you. So glad Magdalena and you are happy and well. Namaste from Vancouver Island brother, Nathan. 😉🙏🏼🇨🇦

Thanks for sharing the journey you took to get Tiki. Nice to look back and get some history of what really happened to get on board. Brenden....Pool Shark! Nice job. I keep telling people that it is expensive to travel to St. John...or anywhere in Caribbean but after seeing the bar tab for a couple beers in New York....nah...I'll take the Caribbean any day!

Tiki is precious and will hopefully be sailing with you for many years. I did so enjoy Lucky - so much personality with a sense of humor. (I've always wondered if Lucky just died one day or was there an accident? My heart ached for you!) It looks like Tiki's eyes haven't changed all the way yet so she's still young and will grow up to be a devoted pet. Bless you all! Me & my African Grey, Kiwi

Well that was a fun video. Parrots are amazing animals and Greys are one of the best. It's good to see Tiki is one of the family and was not brought on board as a novelty. Take care of her.

Great video Rick, traveling anytime with a pet out of the country, is like rolling the dice, you never know if even the proper paperwork will get you through.

Very informative video. I was rather surprised that you were able to travel with Tiki from country to country with such ease. I never been able to enjoy that freedom with my own companion bird as I was always told he had to be 'quarantined' for an ungodly amount of time. Therefore someone would care for him while I was away. Although it's been a few years now, I also had a difficult time finding an airline that would allow him to ride aboard with me instead of being stuck in cargo. As of that date Delta airline is the only one that would. And in order to get through security without him being ex-rayed I also had to submit to being strip searched. I also carried him in a pet carrier very similar to the one you are using in this video. Happy to see every thing worked out. Enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing.

Ahoy from Toronto Rick. Very nice video. Remember I had previously asked about Tiki's arrival in the Caribbean. So thanks for that. Just curious, you were able to check Tiki in as "carry on" in the cabin and park on your lap ??? I am surprised. But very cool via WestJet.I too was curious when it was mentioned Tiki was a teenager. So I looked it up and African Greys can live up to 60 years as pets in captivity. Bottom line is that your little parrot girl is truly a baby !

This is a lot of fun to watch. THANKS ! You are very lucky.
I actually see the technology that is evolving as a threat to the natural and vital statutes of social interaction between humans. One high altitude EMP blast will indeed toss us all into the stone age without verbal and physical interaction and dexterity capabilities if this keeps rolling !
PLAY OUTSIDE ! TALK TO THE NEIGHBORS ! GO SAILING ! Go FOR A HIKE !
NEVER SIT ON YOUR BUTTS ! ! ! That's what we did as kids.
. . . Wow. We are SO SPOILED today.
And everybody in my big family over the age of 12 is taller than me. That's a lot of people starting with all 31 of my 1st Cousins . . .

You were lucky at customs in the island. In Canada did you have to get the parrot inspected at the port of entry and have the CITES permit and docs to travel? I had to quarantine an African Grey Parrot for a month and cost me $2k for federal inspections. This Quebec might be different.
All the best with the new addition to your family

  • @dirtroadsailing6418

Airport prices really suck. Just a heads up for the next time you travel, go to ebay and buy an airline club pass for pennies on the dollar that allows you to get a decent place to hang out and free beer.

  • @1st1anarkissed

Tiki is adorable and I'm so glad you were able to bring her to St. Martens. Please, it was not a "rescue" but an adoption. Rescue is not a catch-all for purchasing slave animals, it's for animals (and they're slaves, make no mistake) who are in dire need of a decent home due to substandard housing or homelessness. Not simply young animals bought off a breeder.

    • @SailingSophisticatedLady
      @SailingSophisticatedLady  7 років тому +2

I understand you completely, but this 'rescue' was from an overzealous abundance of grossly misdirected and misguided government intervention... for a fee of course.. yes, don't forget the fee... you can do anything you want, as long as you pay the fee...

Sorry to hear that. I have a soon to be 17 year old Congo Grey. May I ask what happened to Lucky? She was so young!

Unbelievable ... First off, I would be wearing gloves to use that I Pad that everyone else is sliding their germ filled fingers across. You don't know where those fingers have been. Second, I would never pay $11 for a beer. EVER...And what is the Gratuity for? The I Pad? Does it really need the money?

Got to be the most beautiful parrot. But way out of reach to most here in Australia. Going price is $5000-$7000, lot of money for a pet.

I would forever be afraid that she would get a wild hair one day and just fly off... I guess there's nothing you can do about that.

Geoff Jacobs Of course there is. Wing clipping is the best way to prevent that. ;)

That's always a concern, even with wings clipped most parrots can still fly.. I have a new harness for TIKI we're trying to get her warmed up to so we can take her for walks on the beach with us.. :)

Rick regarding these I pads at airports just tell them that you cannot read and write properly then they have to converse with you. Drives me nuts talking to a robot.
