It drives requesters away and hurts everyone who depends on the platform for money. Tell your true demographics etc... These are researchers spending lots of money and sometimes years on research and that should be respected.
Ijust saw this on the mturk reddit. Someone linked to it to warn a new requester. This is infuriating. Your right, the people using this research need it for something. College students, professors, businesses, and all manner of people and organizations use the platform for surveys. They are paying us to give them data and people like this loser are advertising to new workers a method of cheating. I hope whoever this person is gets banned.

The information given as examples on not giving your true age or if you're a smoker or not is just telling mturkers to give some thought to stretching the truth in order to get qualified for a survey. Not going to do it! I'd rather be disqualified for a survey for not meeting their needs and feel good about myself. Karma.

Most qualifications have nothing to do with time. You have to go through and if you see a hit that you're interested in, click the qualification "link" and see what you need. Some require you to take a test while others you can just get. There are some that do require you to have a certain acceptance rate or things along those lines.

I found the answers to all 3 of those a big fat YES. Now I use most of my spare time making videos for my youtube channel. Hell I see myself doing any and everything I qualify for lol. Be hell, idk like I said I just joined so not everything may be for me but if you want to make a decent amount in a certain amount of time gotta put in the time and effort right?
You probably know this by now, but you can use Turkopticon to check out the requesters and find out who is good and who to avoid. I work online, and I make my major money there, but at night, when I'm doing nothing, I knock out a few surveys and rake in about $150 a month, which is my mad money.
I have been at this for a while and I make decent money at it. You can add mturk members on facebook. Also add the scripts to avoid working for people who do not pay. If you go to the facebook group you can get the links from the road map.

Jessica, if you have fast internet, apply as a captioner at Rev. There is a very slightly paid "training period", and then your pay rate goes up. It is not easy work, it's exacting and there is a time limit on how long you can take for a project, but you can do it from home and work in your jammies if you want. It, with MTurk, might give you enough money. If you do pass the entrance exam, go to the Forum and get the Rookie Reading Packet, read it, and follow the advice in it. From one person with medical issues to another, good luck.

I want to give the Turkers sentences and ask them to rate them as natural sounding or strange...and maybe even ask them how to turn them into natural sentences by changing words, moving them around etc. Would you do this kind of thing. Do you think you could do it watching TV? Would 50 sentences be too much? How about 100? Any advice for me would be welcome and perhaps, if I get this off the ground, you could take the survey.

Hmmm...it should show up within minutes of you completing the HIT. Of course the money shows up at various times throughout the month, but the completed HIT always showed up rather quickly. Send the owner of the HIT an email...I always got fairly quick responses whenever I did this.

When i click ii to expand it brings up "Unable to extend an invitation at this time To effectively maintain and administer the Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) marketplace, we are not always in a position to extend an invitation to complete tasks and earn rewards to every newly registered Worker. Should conditions change in the future, we will notify you with an invitation. Thank you for your interest in working on MTurk." Im very confused
Super late comment but I’m interested and curious on this job. I have a severe social anxiety disorder and I haven’t had my first job yet. It’s very hard to be out in public so you see how tough it is for me to find a job that’s right for me. Plus I have back problems so it’ll be very hard to find a job where I’m at. I looked into online jobs from home to start out earning something. I found amazon Turk tasks or data entry. You think this is a good starting job for me? I’m also freaked out about taxes because I’ve never experienced it before lol. I don’t really know what I’m doing haha
I believe the answer is no. I've done some research and see that the only options you have is a bank account or get paid in amazon giftcards. Because you must be a legal and registered tax paying U.S. Citizen (US Workers), amazon mturk is a legit "job" that goes through the legit measures to pay you. Amazon pays through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) process which nearly all U.S. based banks use...the issue is paypal does not. Paypal also works through BANKS who use ACH making bank to bank transfers possible but cannot accept payments from sources that do not use ACH (such as Amazon Payment Account).
Question in general - can this be done on a android device & also do U need a bank account in order to get paid or can they simply send out a printed pay check to your address
you can do some (not most) hits on an android but you really need a computer to do most. Outside of electronic transfer, the only other way you can get paid that I am aware of is Amazon credits (can use the money on purchases on Amazon.com). I don't think they mail out paper checks.
Unfortunately I don't know if there is anything you can do. They may have too many people with accounts and may temporarily not be approving accounts at this time :-(

You use it for what it should be used for. Knock some stuff out after a day of working while you're sitting and watching TV. Boom $25-$50 a week.

Unfortunately it seems as if MTurk is now not taking workers from outside the USA, I am in Australia and was not accepted..

hmmm I can type 100 WPM (I used to work as a captionist part time) I wonder if some of these would be good for me. But I can't see myself doing it with out my pedal to slow words down and such..
data entry would be a good extra cash (you won't make thousands but it's extra $)for you.
Have you looked at Rev for captioning? I like it quite a lot and I'm just getting into it full speed after the training and enough work to feel like I kinda know what I'm doing.
Do you have to complete these HITS on a PC or can they be done on your Smartphone? I know I clicked on one that told me you have to complete on a PC but I didn’t know if all had to be done that way

How soon does your HITS show up in your daily activity because I’ve done (3) but only (1) is showing up
Hmmm...it should show up within minutes of you completing the HIT. Of course the money shows up at various times throughout the month, but the completed HIT always showed up rather quickly. Send the owner of the HIT an email...I always got fairly quick responses whenever I did this.

Dee Witt the HITs usually say in their instructions...most want u to be on a pc but some require the use of a cellphone only...but thats because they want u to download an app which i avoid

My interface is different than yours. I don't know if you're talking about rapidworkers.com or the mturk.com. My Mturk says that its unable to expand my account. When i click ii to expand it brings up "Unable to extend an invitation at this time

Super late comment but I’m interested and curious on this job. I have a severe social anxiety disorder and I haven’t had my first job yet. It’s very hard to be out in public so you see how tough it is for me to find a job that’s right for me. Plus I have back problems so it’ll be very hard to find a job where I’m at. I looked into online jobs from home to start out earning something. I found amazon Turk tasks or data entry. You think this is a good starting job for me? I’m also freaked out about taxes because I’ve never experienced it before lol. I don’t really know what I’m doing haha

I believe the answer is no. I've done some research and see that the only options you have is a bank account or get paid in amazon giftcards. Because you must be a legal and registered tax paying U.S. Citizen (US Workers), amazon mturk is a legit "job" that goes through the legit measures to pay you. Amazon pays through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) process which nearly all U.S. based banks use...the issue is paypal does not. Paypal also works through BANKS who use ACH making bank to bank transfers possible but cannot accept payments from sources that do not use ACH (such as Amazon Payment Account).

No...tasks are not limited.
Question in general - can this be done on a android device & also do U need a bank account in order to get paid or can they simply send out a printed pay check to your address
you can do some (not most) hits on an android but you really need a computer to do most. Outside of electronic transfer, the only other way you can get paid that I am aware of is Amazon credits (can use the money on purchases on Amazon.com). I don't think they mail out paper checks.

Unfortunately I don't know if there is anything you can do. They may have too many people with accounts and may temporarily not be approving accounts at this time :-(

Sanoj Chathuranga do not do any hits until you are approved ...you will not be paid. Unfortunately, i heard that Amazon is not approving new workers at the moment.
