We go into great detail about Rise of the Resistance in this episode, and attraction spoilers start at 19:55 and end at 1:30:00. The first 20 mins and last 10 are spoiler-free. What did you think of the new ride?
24:57 It is not musion. It is a giant mirror with a tv screen behind it. Pay attention to the wall "behind" Rey, it is a reflection of the wall in front of the apparatus.
That makes sense! Because doing it that way would allow for the concave projection effect, like the Navi at start of River Journey based on the Ghost Writer busts in Mansion... so no matter where you are Rey seems to be facing you!! Just put it behind a two-way mirror and it shows up when the projection starts.
Small correction at 01:18:02. The Disney equivalent term to Universal's "Squinching" is "Moving Eyepoint". You'll hear Imagineers refer to this occasionally in documentaries. This scene actually does utilize moving eye point.
omg "If the great movie ride was on cocaine and times 1,000,000? That's kiiinda Rise." hilariously spot on. lol Sorry upfront, this turned into a novella comment because I love the ride too much, and I keep thinking of more comments listening to you guys ... hopefully it's interesting to read! I did get to go on this during a vaction this month, and we ended up rearranging our plans so we could ride this 3 times during the trip. Our final run (which was like the 15th) they actually started added some additional audio cues that were mission prior. Mainly it was drab military radio chatter about reporting in, inspection reports, etc. That little bit did help it feel a lot more like an operational base. I wouldn't be surprised if there's 1 or 2 other little missing details, but really it's just (as you said) as set-up for "you're part of the Resistance, you're in the barracks." ... unlike Smuggler's run where there's the hilarious radio chatter between Hondo, Garr, and the straightman of the trio. Remembering the name of the planet = a week into operations when we took our 2nd ride, the cast member oustide the shuttle at the landing bay said "WE'RE ALL EXCITED! SECRET MISSION!! YOU'RE GONNA GO SEE LEIA, RIGHT?" crowd cheers "WHAT PLANET IS SHE ON?" dead silence - 1 week into operation, the cast member tried to remind everyone. didn't seem to take - 2nd week into operation (our 3rd ride), the cast member asked the same question then said "GOOD! THE PLANET'S A SECRET! DON'T TELL ANYONE!" One of the times I went through it, when everyone was lining up for detention, there was this married couple with matching shirts next to us. The officer said "do not worry, we have holding cells big enough to accommodate you two together for a VERY LONG TIME." the girl just muttered something and pointed to the husband in response and the officer retored "OH, betrayed by your accomplice already..." FUN LORE FACT regarding British Officers = The Empire valued loyalty over competency, which lead to a lot of nepotism and "friends of friends". And with the Empire's heart being near the core of the galaxy, this is why the "core worlds accent" was seen so frequently throughout its officers. AT-AT experiences = I have done both. The ATAT gunpoint is definitely the more iconic, but the other one is honestly just as good. For starters, that's the car that gets inches away from the escape door before it closes off to you, so you have a better sense of "crap, wrong way". Then when you get up there, a screen officer in the ATAT hanger door sees you and calls for help. Then this storm trooper comes out with a massive shoulder-mounted heavy artillery gun. When the ride vehicle turns around to escape the ENTIRE CEILING just lights up with laser fire as the trooper's weapon just screams vengeance at you. lol So yeah, they're honestly both amazing, which seriously surprised me. Bridge scene = you do get to see Hux in full from the right side. Aside from inescapable animatronic lipsync, it's a really good model. It's very much recognizable as Hux. Kylo's Saber Cut = every ride I've been on, even with repeaters due to the timing of it - there's either been a scream, a gasp, or a cuss when that happened. Gunner Room Trivia Point = I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen one of those half-egg rebel transport shuttles actually used in combat and actually do anything. lol The big ship that gets blown up was acting as a bullet sponge for the capital gunship that was ripping apart the star destroyer you're on.
Thanx for this reviews on this excellent ride which I will experience as soon as I have enough money and friends who will go with me to go to those parks in the future
I saw that on The Imagineering Story! I never woulda guessed it was one screen for two pods, but after riding twice I do now realize that the vantage is different depending on if you’re on left or right side!
Love the ride so much! My only gripe is I wish it was more original trilogy focused than focused on the new films; but I understand why. And it really does have that Star Wars feeling the Original Trilogy does.
I think this is life changing in the history of theme parks... It opened a door that cannot be closed. I want other attractions like this in the future!
Maybe you should consider asking Dan from Midway Mayhem to be a guest on this show once. He's a good expert on new Florida attractions as well. I'd also suggest Jack from DSNY Newscast and Will from Universal Newscast to be guests as well but they're both in the UK, and Universal Newscast hasn't been active for the last year and a half, and Jack would be more of an expert on Disney rather than Universal.

Thank you for the spoiler-free time stamp. I’m trying to keep this attraction as much as a surprise as possible.
You’re very welcome! Come back to it after you ride and let us know if you agree with what we had to say.
I've watched a bunch of POV vids of The Rise of the Resistance, but this podcast, by far, was the best recap and analysis of the ride! Thanks!!!
Thank you! That means a lot to us.
33:20 It does move. It's not as nearly as intense as Star Tours, but it does move on a limited motion base.

I finally got to ride it and get to watch the spoiler part of this video. I LOVE YOU GUYS :)
Thank you for all your hard work. I am going there soon and your videos are very informative.
This was such a fun episode! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the ride. Had a great time listening to this one.

Another fantastic podcast... great discussion and thoughts on this 'next level' experience!

1:26:06 It's actually another IMAX screen. There's 2, one for each side, so that 2 escape pods share them.

so excited for this ride! love the podcast, keep up the good work!
Haven't seen it yet but I've been waiting for this!!! Haha I went opening day and it was so spectacular.

YOU SHOULD DO A RECAP OF DISNEY AND UNIVERSAL FOR THE YEAR. LIKE MAJOR NEWS/THINGS THAT HAPPENED!
Yay, new episode!
I think this is life changing in the history of theme parks... It opened a door that cannot be closed. I want other attractions like this in the future!
BECK KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD...lol he keeps turning back no wonder they got captured.
What proposed bantha attraction?! Can you tell me anything about it?
