Catherine Ennis played this when she came to Berkshire Organists at Reading Town Hall in November 1988; sadly no longer with us, but what a wonderful rendition; many thanks.
Brilliant piece and as ever, excellent performance by Edward. I heard this first played after an Easter day service BBC broadcast from Winsor Chapel many years ago. My son was turning pages for a particular brilliant assistant whose name I cannot recall. One I would like to try, but the very thick chords in both hands during the main movements is a real challenge. Love Guilmant, and this is one of his real 'War Horses'
Many thanks indeed. We are very fortunate here in Carlisle to have this instrument. Do check out some other videos to hear the organ in other rep. New videos coming very soon
Excellently played. My own organ teacher always taught me that iit is better to play things a little slower and make it sound as good as you played it, than rush it and not play it so well. Marvelous playing.
Just my opinion, but the best Willis organs, when properly maintained and cared for by the best professionals, are on par with the better French instruments. The key is proper care and maintenance, whether French or British. Thankfully, this one is well cared for!
Well played and registered on a magnificent organ, but too slow here for me. The score shows Minuetto ♩=126 and a jaunty minuet tempo is just right for it, IMHO.
When I’m depressed this piece takes away all my sad thoughts.

Wonderful to hear it played at this speed, not too fast - thank you.
Splendid presentation. Here is combined dignity and lightness.
Many thanks
This is the first time I have heard this organ and what a piece to hear so well played on it.

Many thanks. I am glad you enjoyed it. I always feel that French music can be rushed if you are not careful.
My organ teacher was of the same philosophy
Excellent. Would this organ voicing be considered French? Or is it just the good registration.
