Bladesmithing Movie - Walter's On Film!

Swordsmith Walter Sorrells shows the filming of part of a documentary film about American sword craftsmen making blades in the Japanese tradition. The "samurai sword" is now an American craft -- made using modern materials and with a dose of Western philosophy...but still recognizable as a development of the ancient form. Documentary filmmakers Jason Lee Rosa and Al Clanton spent several days at Walter's shop, filming the smelting of tamahagane (making steel directly from iron ore) as well as the forging of a katana as part of their film "The Sun's Shadow."
"The Sun's Shadow" is currently in production and will be completed sometime next year. Included in the film are sword craftsmen including Howard Clark, Josiah Boomershine, Chris Osborne and others.
