  • 2006 GMC Sierra Sierra 3500 Brake Booster Replacement
Brakes are kind of important, especially on your tow rig where you're depending on it stop not only your vehicle, but your entire race operation or cargo.
My Hydroboost brake booster was getting weepy and needed some help before it caused bigger problems. I fixed it with parts from rockauto.com and got it back to working correctly and keeping the oil in the right place!
From what I understand, this is the same procedure on all of the
2000-2006 GM trucks and SUV's that have Hydroboost brake booster. It looks like Gas and Diesels have the same booster.

Outstanding video work. Adding this video to my gm automotive research playlist.

Thanks! I try to show everything that needs to be done to complete the repair. I never like the videos that leave out steps or neglect to show that one hidden bolt or any of the problems that are encountered. I want to help make it easier for regular people to fix their own vehicles.

This wasn't a hard thing to do. Except for getting it back on the brake pedal! That was maddening! I've done others that just went on and others that fought me!

The hardest part was getting the rod secured back on the brake pedal. Easy job overall.

Press the brake pedal a few times with it running. The first press felt a little funny, but nothing major.

Will a bad booster affect power steering....(hard to steer)

I don't think so. To the best of my knowledge, they are on different high pressure lines and shouldn't affect each other. Now having said that, I'm just a guy on UA-cam, I'm not a professional mechanic and this is just my opinion.

He's the bad booster will make your steering screw up and if you ever change a power steering pump that's been leaking for a long time and having to be refilled all the time and afterwords had put a new one on and ut still leaks check for fluid leaked u Der power booster . Changed my booster today because the water pump still leaked. Power steering pump and booster are tied in together for some reason . There ya go

Yes in my case it did. It was leaking from the spot where the master cylinder and the booster joined. I felt some sponginess in the top of my brake too.
