If there's a subplot like how the "bad apes" want to use nuclear waste or a device that will "pollute the earth" then you know some woke person at Disney was involved.

What gives me quite a bit of hope are two of the screenwriters, Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. They’ve both been writing movie scripts for over twenty five years. They’re such talented writers that they wrote Avatar: The Way of Water with James Cameron, they wrote Avatar 3 with Cameron, and they came up with the story for Avatar 4 & 5 as well. But even more importantly than that, they’re both of the people who wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes and they’re two of the three writers of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. They also produced both of those films, along with War for the Planet of the Apes. The Planet of the Apes Reboot trilogy is easily in the Top 10 Best Trilogies of All Time and I would say that it’s without question the best trilogy of the last fifteen years. They clearly know how to write fantastic movies that have great human emotions while also having big spectacle at the same time. I don’t know if Wes Ball is the right director for the project, but I really don’t think Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver’s script is going to be the problem of the film.

Matt Reeves made Let Me In before Rise which I think is the movie that put him on the map. Now I like the Maze Runner movies they aren’t Great but they’re fine/good movies. He seems like a creative director and they probably met with him and loved his direction for the franchise. Obviously we have to have lower expectations because I don’t think there’s anyway they could top the trilogy that just came out. But this is one of my most anticipated films next year

This is without a doubt one of the most underrated and best trilogies ever made. Even though they're are 3 films with another on the way it feels like no one talks about these films. I'm definitely excited but I'm probably more worried than excited. It's hard not to be worried when Matt reeves isn't returning and the main character literally died in the last film. Andy serkis/ ceaser presumably isn't in the film and he is what made the first 3 films so great

I finally watched this trilogy recently for the first time.
For Rise, outside of Caesar’s story, the movie was pretty average summer blockbuster fare. Could tell there was something special here with Serkis though.
Dawn might be one of my favorite action movies of all time. Pretty much perfect all around. Caesar vs Koba, great human characters all around, and excellent pacing.
War was a bit of a step back since the humans were much more one dimensional but Serkis and the other apes continue to shine. Great conclusion to the story though.
Not sure how I feel about more movies happening.

    • @frankl34798
      @frankl34798 10 місяців тому +1

agree entirely iggy. {and hello again}.
i have my doubts too. what started as an excellent possibility with 'rise' {which stands alone as a fantastic movie, and then add all the prequel stuff to it too and you have a near perfect movie} descended a bit with the following two. they were both very good too, but i could tell that they were definitely not thinking things through enough for die hard fans like me. they didn't do enough with the apes. i mean ten years on and still only three of them spoke? also waaaaaaaaay too big a cartload of chimpanzees, not enough of a band of gorillas and most certainly not enough of a buffoonery of orangutans.
i think the series should fast forward a few hundred years and see the apes well established with their own societies and culture.
and a brand new ape village, thrilling.
but, as a devoted fan since i first saw them in the early seventies, i'm hooked and can hardly wait til 24 may 2024 where i will be one of the first in line to see the show.
love and peace, always, to you and all,

I've been a diehard fan since Rise came out in 2011. ( watched it five times in the theater) and I adore the trilogy that it turned into. I am so very excited that we are getting a new trilogy based on the first. Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa don't disappoint and they care about these characters so I'm not worried. I also wanna say that, on Wikipedia at least, it says the new director for this film met up with Matt Reeves ( I believe) when talking about the concept of this saga so I'm confident it will be amazing. I was worried back in 2014 about Reeves directing because I felt no one could do as good a job as Rupert Wyatt but I was wrong and I'm happy that I was wrong.

      agree totally dave. it's time to remake the original but improve it, maybe word for word, scene by scene {except where taylor is over powering four gorillas in the market perhaps, lol}
i would love to see it remade with all of today's technology.
      awesome.
love and peace to you and all,

These movies are ok but the old classic ones had a better plot and story , the first planet of the apes when Heston and all these great acters and plot ther later in the movie Taylor played by charston heston finds out that he was on earth all thi time and finds the statue of liberty sunked to the ground its to bad that holly hood didnt conciderd to do anorher version of the original planet of the apes i was disapointed ! Also the 90s planet of the apes with actor Waldern as the astruanut really sucked big time it also didnt make any scence , todays directors have no idea what there doing , i will alway love the first ones from the 70s it made more scence and the plot , the idea of these astruanuts that got lost in a time warp a thousand years into the futer and thie ship crashes to a planet that was ruled by apes and humans became mutes and dumb , then all these clues , that taylor started to discover , and the ending scenc ! That will drop your jaw ! The statue of liberty , oh yeaaa its the best then the second one was also good , all of them 2 3 4 5 70s planet of the apes better !

I've no trust in Disney for a few different reasons and Hollywood these days never want to just end a franchise. They keep s@@tting them out until they jump the shark or even the whole ocean.

I’d say I’m more worried than excited unfortunately…
That is mainly because I no longer trust Disney anymore!
They have made a lot of mistakes over the past several years now, with Star Wars, their live action remakes and now more recently, the MCU.
But the problem is, they are still making these same mistakes…
They haven’t learnt from them, and that makes me skeptical about almost anything they put out now.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore the reboot Ape trilogy, and I think it is one of the best trilogies out there!
I’d also say it’s underrated and often overlooked too…
But do I trust Disney to continue with that quality? No I do not…

oh boy. sadness that there are still non ape lovers like you in this world. lol
the original was a masterpiece and i challenge anyone to come up with three science fiction movies with better endings than that.
whilst it's true that they slipped into silly dom after that for me, i've been a devoted fan of this saga my whole life since seeing them in the early seventies, and have watched all many, many, many times over.
i can only imagine life without my 'pota' love.
i'd recommend you start with the 1968 original, then go straight to 'rise'.
you could be forgiven if you don't see the rest, but the story lines are all quite well thought out, although sadly not carried out too well in reality.
love and peace to you and all,
      xxxxxxx

@@salvationbygracethroughfaith hey salvation. nice to read your comments from a non pota fan.
as a huuuuuuge fan my whole life i have the following to say:
for me the first movie was exceptional. i had been waiting for a remake of the originals, which were all very good to a point {although needed updating from a special effects pov}, for many a year.
but 'rise', for me, is an almost perfect movie. i loved, loved, loved it. it stands alone as a complete movie and i was just soooo anxious to see any future follow ups that i could only hope for.
whilst 'dawn' and 'war' were both very good the idealist in me found quite a few faults.
for example there were just waaaaaay too many in the cartload of chimpanzees and not enough in the buffoonery of orangutans and likewise in the band of gorillas. {this has been the case for ALL of the movies}.
also if ten winters had passed from 'rise' to 'dawn' how come not more of them spoke?
that was the most disappointing part for me. i was hoping for more of an ape culture to have developed by then.
asides from the fact that both movies were filled with anger and rage and fighting, which i tried to look beyond, i found little things like trying to tie in the character 'nova' with the original 'nova' ludicrous.
and apes having left their tribe and gone to live as slaves for the humans? ludicrous.
anyways, that's my ten pence of opinion.
i am thrilled to hear that you enjoyed them, as a non pota fan, and hope we will all be pleased with the next installment 'kingdom' on 24 may 2024.
love and peace to you and all,
      xxxxxxx

@@salvationbygracethroughfaith hey salvation, and thank you so much for taking the time to reply, and for your thoughtful and provocative observations.
whilst i agree with your intellectual comments, i can merely add that maybe it should have been time for them all to have evolved more.
but i'm really only saying that as i just loved the original where for me it was pure delight to think that there is something out there that has gained superiority over us.
let's face it we are at such an adolescent stage of humanity, and i can only hope that one day, soon, we will look back at these last five thousand years or so of recorded history and proclaim: what on earth were we doing to each other?

yes i kinda agree james. whilst i love anything to do with my favourite saga i was not entirely happy with 'war' either.
mainly because i'm ready for an exact remake of the original before they string us along too long and get us fed up with the whole thing.
could hardly stand the way they tried to tie in with the original masterpiece too. i mean a/nother mute nova? ridiculous.
and how come we are 10 years after 'rise' and still hardly any talking apes?
and apes crossing over to be enslaved by humans just because they were followers of koba? couldn't they just say, oops excuse me i mean sign, sorry.
and don't gorillas look crazy on horses? poor buggers, so heavily weighed down, lol.
also waaaaaaaaay too many in the cartload of chimpanzees, not enough of a band of gorillas and most certainly nowhere enough in the buffoonery of orangutans.
      still, that's just me.
but it was still an amazingly beautifully made movie {read: fantastic special effects}, and i'm still sooooo excited about 'kingdom' and can hardly wait til 24 may 2024 where i will be one of the first in line to see it.
      let's just wait and see,
love and peace to you and all,

what is your reasoning behind your disappointment please?

+Sean Chandler Plus As a planet of the apes fan of both the films and the book (The franchise is based on), I’m not worrying about this at all man. Okay Sean here’s the thing, In truth Wes ball is no stranger to the planet of the apes franchise and he’s not gonna ruined it since he basically said in interviews that he saw the original films and the reboot series and even the 1963 book of the same name by Pierre Boulle (The franchise is based on). Sure his previous films for 20th century (Fox) studios maze runner may not be great films in your opinion and everyone else’s opinion but at least those movies were decent. People kept irrationally and unreasonably saying that they think Wes and Disney are gonna screw up the planet of the apes franchise (Which doesn’t make sense) and they won’t because believe it or not Disney has been obviously made ape-related animal films in the past that has hominids (Ape) characters themselves in them such as king Louie from the jungle book franchise and Kerchak, Terk and Kala from Tarzan. Not to mention that in 2012 they made a wildlife documentary under their Disneynature studio featuring Caesar’s ape species the chimpanzees titled “Chimpanzee” and was narrated by Tim Allen. Also before Andy Serkis played Caesar, the iconic chimp was originally portrayed the late Malcom McDowell in in 1971 from original film’s sequels and obviously this franchise had already jumped the shark once because of that crappy 2001 Tim Burton remake with Mark Walhberg (Marky Mark). I don’t blame Wes ball or Disney (Even though the beloved company had went downhill ). Besides they did save the Predator franchise for Fox from going downhill from the infamous and forgettable 2018 previous predator film after the recently released 5th installment Prey/Predator 5 (2022) came out on Hulu and they’re also gonna the same strong and tireless try to save another horror franchise they also known from 20th century studios Alien from going downhill as well and the film of that property is titled “Alien:Romulus”.
