Marissa Gomez it's a lot of fun. I was a big Donna Summer fan growing up (especially her stuff with Giorgio Moroder) and I think this solo is often overlooked when it comes to the great rock solos of all time (as nobody effects to find something like this in her catalog)
Thanx a million. My wife and I are putting together a duo playing disco, funk & soul songs and I was missing that solo for this song. Greetings from Buin, Chile.
Thanks man. Excellent! Needed it for a band. I knew it had to be someone great who played that solo. Now I know it was Skunk Baxter. And now I don't feel so bad that I couldn't learn it on my own. Thanks again Luke Sniper.
Great stuff Luke. Anyone who needs a tab for this is over their head and needs to start with something easier. The way you explained EVERYTHING made it so easy. Really helped me a lot. Thanks man!
This was super useful thanks so much Luke! Will definitely be referring back to this as I learn the solo! Thanks once again man! Hope you’re doing good! Take care and stay safe! 🙌
Thanks!!! I can tell you that I love that solo and I have seen your video a lot of times, I don't play guitar but I love the way it is created the sound
Fabulous video!! you're an amazing guitar player!! I needed to learn the solo (which is a difficult one) for my band in 4-5 days and it's happening because you're so talented and a great teacher. Thank You!!
Happy to be of service! It seems this song is a popular one for cover bands, but the solo tutorials are few and far between. I don't know why... It's a banger solo. Everybody should learn it!
Truly awesome bro. Thank you. I got it. Theory question. Just throwing it out there. On the Hot Stuff solo. Which I got and play mostly thanks to you. I'm pretty experienced and could have figured it out but you just spoon fed it. Feels like cheating, lol but that's how it is these days. Here's my theory question. And I don't know the answer. Why does the picking. Of the F chord in the second part of the solo work? I mean, I am pretty sure the chord is G. I don't think the chord moved to Eb yet. It would have been obvious to play that triad under the F chord. Right? How did Skunk know to do that and why does it sound so freaking good there? Thoughts.
The A C and F notes are all at least a whole step above the chord tones for the G minor chord, so they don't really clash. But they're also played right before the chord switches to Eb, so he's kind of just playing the F chord on his way from Gm to Eb.
@@LukeSniper Yeah, the F on the way to Eb sounds right. But none of the chord tones (FAC) are in a G chord so, so much for theory of playing chord tones. Lol! Thanks again. Glad I only recently learned theory after 30 years because that would have confused me.
I don't concern myself too much with specifics there. I live by Joe Satriani's assertion that tone is in the fingers, effects just color it. That said, that middle pickup in my guitar is out of phase, which gives the bridge humbucker a thinner, more Fender-like tone. I played this through a Roland Cube with a mild overdrive with some delay. But never forget that your fingers are the biggest factor in whether or not it sounds good.
darell clarin I don't typically offer tabs for lessons. Not only is it a lot of work to make them (work I don't really have time for), but you learn more by listening/watching as I play it and working it out yourself. If I were to tab out any of my lessons, this would be the one, as there is NOTHING out there on how to play it, but I can't mage any promises.
Do you care to elaborate? Also, this is how I do it. If you don't think it's "correct", fine. I don't care. I'm not concerned with painstakingly recreating every minute detail. I don't see much value in that sort of thing.
@@markjayw666 I don't hear a slide in the track. Are those not the notes I played? Your complaint seems just be which position I played the part in. Can you provide any credible evidence that the solo was actually played there? Does it REALLY matter? You'll note in the description that I say: here's how I play... And finally: It's Bb, not A#. If you don't understand why A# is wrong, I refer you to my video on when and why to use flats instead of sharps (tip: A# is very rarely correct, and pretty much always incorrect when referring to chord names)
Never imagined a video on learning this solo! Always loved it since I was kid! gotta learn this one now

Great to see you young ones carrying on the tradition!
Loading. I didn't grow up listening to contemporary stuff. I grew up on Sabbath, Zeppelin, and disco.

Our band is just learning this song. Never realised how tricky this solo is. This is great lesson. Great playing Luke.
Hear Guitar never underestimate the great Skunk Baxter!
It's a bit tricky, but it's also catchy, which really helps you lock it up. Good luck with it!
Ha ha, thanks!
Skunk Baxter, secret legend. played with EVERYBODY. Now he's a JPL rocket scientist or something. a regular Buckaroo Bonzai. Subscribed.
Thanks for putting this up, needed it for the band, a great help.
Great straight foward lesson! Thanks!!!!

Excellent video. Very clear explanation.
thanks you for the lesson! You are great and fluid hands!!
Thank you for watching. I'm happy to help.
If you have any requests, please let me know.

Yes mate!
Jeff Baxter is a great America patriot! #TheDoobieBrothersRule!
Great lesson!
thanks luke you solve my problem God Bless You...
Nice job - simple and good instruction. Somehow I don't picture you playing disco!!
I love disco.
Thank you very much, I've learned this solo thanks to you. Cheers from Italy! I have also made a video of the solo 😊

@@douginny if you're under the impression that you're only "allowed" to play chord tones in a solo, then whoever taught you theory did a shitty job
suuuuupppppeeeeerrr ! Thank you
One more favor. what setting are you using, reverb, overdrive, etc?

Jeff Baxter is a great conservative American Patriot. Pretty good guitar player, too;)
Didn't Billboard Magazine or Rolling Stone say Hot Stuff had the second best guitar solo in that decade?
thought you was doing the stones good bye
2nd section is wrong
Do you care to elaborate?

Did you say this was your “interpretation?”
Are you going to elaborate on your first comment or do you prefer to keep complaining while offering nothing constructive?
After he plays in 1st pentatonic box he moves to position 4 box with a slide. Notes are C A# A# G twice

If you can’t hear it maybe you should retire from giving lessons?
I think I'm content to just tell you to fuck off, actually.
That was painful to listen to
