    You have to clean the flange ring. Where o- ring seals. The lock ring looked clean as a whistle. Whatever. You'll be back

      You can’t half ass these. You gotta clean both mounting rings or yes you will be back.

    Split rims are the best especially when you got a guy airing one up and it's not seated right. Then the ring goes flying and someone loses a head

      Yeah but those ones you can see if the ring is seated right or not unlike Firestone rh5° dubbed widowmakers

      Dam that sounds terrifying. I don’t know much about tires, but I know a fair bit about trauma and something like that moving at speed could be lethal.

    What lube do you use for the oring? I use a graphite based lubricant… no rim rust is the name of it, black in colour… i grease the bead seat band instead of the oring myself, I’ve found with using this stuff and greasing the band the orings never leak and the band slides over the oring a lot easier!

    You do know you don't have to take the lock ring off right unless it's completely sprung or just needs a good cleaning. I've fixed my share of tires like that over the years
