Community is one of those shows where the entire cast admits the working conditions were rough, but they loved working with each other so much it didn't matter
Well, *almost* the entire cast loved working with each other
Which also holds true to the Greendale experience and the plot as a whole.
@@Caro-ri4cj who didnt?

The changing audio crews thing makes the seasons randomly having different audio make so much more sense now
you do not understand ADR clearly, thats not how it would affect the show.
@@DJDrankenstein They didn't ADR every single episode. His comment is fine and makes sense..
Yeah.
@@DJDrankenstein um, akshuwhally ☝️
@@DJDrankenstein but it would affect things like reverb, noise floor, the peak decibel, BG noise & sound effect libraries, any of the foley art done for the show, etc etc
I'm a production sound mixer. If an actor is ADR-ing entire episodes, either the producers need to let the sound team actually do what they need to, or the sound team needs to get fired lol
Well it seems like they did get fired. Repeatedly. On schedule. Every six weeks.
Harmon productions were notoriously behind schedule and above budget for weird things and perfectionism in writing that had cascading delays. Without additional insight into the specifics he’s referring to, I’m just imagining whatever was going on with the sound teams were affected by all of that. It was a very atypical show so undoubtedly weird dynamics at play.
Production never respects Sound Mixers. Ever.
@@fairassesment Exactlyyyyyyy
@@AlexstreamsDan Harmon sounds like a nightmare. Plus, he sexually harassed, then retaliated against Meg Ganz, who wrote some of the funniest episodes.
Yet somehow Troy easily came across the funniest character in community. Wouldn't have guessed Donald had to try so hard
Actually Pierce was the funniest character

@@Arrionis he was

@@MaksymCzechhe’s literally the worst part of the main cast unfortunately
Kinda amazing what they put those actors through. Doing that much ADR means the sound crews messed up, and having to improv "Donald says something funny" is the writers out sourcing what they should be doing to the actors. Don't get me wrong, I love shows where they improv, but I hope the actors got paid more for both of those services.
DG is one of the realest GOATs in existence
For glalie if you don't do hail buff to ice ball you can swap leer for defense curl in its early learnset its also makes snorunt a slightly better with a later evo
I don't know why you're talking about Pokemon on a short about Donald Glover. I'm gonna guess that UA-cam shorts did to you some stuff it's done to me, though: post your comment meant for a different video on a short you previously watched 😅
that show was like lightning barely contained within a bottle, where there was somebody always trying to get the stopper back in and getting zapped and barely avoiding shattering the bottle. (And Chevy was always trying to knock it over.) The bottle is still around, Dan Harmon keeps rubbing his feet on the carpet and trying to zap it back to life. WHERE'S MY 'AND A MOVIE', DAN
The show was done when "Troy and Abed In The Morning!" ended
It was the math in the show
Really helped push him to make Atlanta his own
i love when people tell stories about culty shows and you cant tell the network was really invested in the success of it
When a Really badly run production happens to have Really great actors/people in front of the camera.
RRRRR DONALD GLOVER
Looping entire episodes gives some clue as to the competence of the sound recordists.
I support modern sturdy mechanics gen 3-4 sturdy is useless
sheer cold fissure strats nerf yourself and they are so late in learnsets too only getting stopped by an aggron and an odd geodude messing up my OHKO accent to utter dominance oh no
Every sturdy pokemon also has an alternate gen 3 ability in case sturdy doesn't make sense for a trainer battle

so do they get writers acknowledgements too along with the $ for that? 👀 or was that just free labour in disguise of just being creative 🙄
They aren't funding it lmao, if Donald actually put revenue into the project maybe, but he didn't 😂
You don't just get to own the set and cameras bc you improv ,Donald is credited as a writer anyways, 😂
Mediocre Marvin Gaye 😊

Part of me wants to know which episode was a full ADR replacement, and part of me does NOT want to know
I'm curious about that too. Although i think, maybe, it can be somewhat noticed by the difference in audio quality.

(I have ze tendency to.. How you say.. Rrrre-vee-zeet heez wurk on zees 'Community' show.. Nò?)
Donald being forced to acquire all these other skills on the job probably explains part of his massive success post-Community.
Troy and abed carried the show.
Love the rest of the cast but they are the true main characters.
@@MrErikAvA if you're going that route than it's obviously Jeff as the main character. But really its just that there are seven main characters.
@cryptiddy okey.. I obviously meant that Troy and abed are fan favorites, which is a fact backed by Dan harmond. He has said in interviews that those were the best to write cause of all their funny shenanigans and constant movie/tv references. And people enjoyed the more troy/abed centric episodes the most.

ADR entire episodes? For a largely studio shot show? Crazy
If you are ADRing a whole episode, this means they recorded episodes with no on location sound at all. That's very 1960s :)
More likely, it was recorded, but of poor quality
We need the movie. ❤️
It's on the way. They're all signed on. Except Chevy, who wasn't asked
Crazy how community is one of those things you can't replicate
The difference between Glover's "That's Hollywood" and Zielger's "That's Hollywood" is amazing.
Definitely one of my favorite shows of all time 💯
Community was a show with a brilliant idea created by an antisocial childish genius, with some of the funniest, most charming cast (and chevy chase). Just truly lightning in a bottle. For about 3 seasons.
Seeing Donald Glover with grey hair is a trip.
Community is my favorite tv show.
He's iconic.
KUN…………..KLEMAN CHEVROLET, FAMILY OWNED SINCE 1981. @ 10:52 (We Know where you live!!)
In college, I had a class where one of the projects was to ADR a few minutes of something the class previously recorded. For multiple very talented people (me excluded, I suck) that took weeks and still didn’t have great lip syncing and performance expression syncing. Doing entire episodes for a television series is unfathomable.
Did other shows ADR?
What's ADR??
@@alexgretzky2247 one would simply just go on Google and look it up:
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) refers to the different ways people can resolve disputes without a trial. Common ADR processes include mediation, arbitration, and neutral evaluation. These processes are generally confidential, less formal, and less stressful than traditional court proceedings.
@@alexgretzky2247 It's when the actors record audio over top of the already recorded footage, this is usually done if the audio recorded was bad or they want to add in new lines.

Ever since Atlanta, Donald has a way of talking that makes it sound like he regrets the last 70 years of his life even tho he’s only 40.
Once I learned that they would reshoot scenes like 17 times I’d made watching the show even more silly
What’s actually funny is this dude thinks any scene in that show is even remotely funny

Sounds like the sound crew wasn't part of the cast's...Community.
Overrated
The most recent cybertruck recall revealed there are 11,000 of them in customer hands. Bay Area has them everywhere.
Cool bike review. Glad to see I decided against buying this one.
Whole episodes? Sure, the outdoor stuff, but wasn't most of the show inside.
ADR can happen for loads of reasons. Differences in equipment, changing scripts. It doesn’t just happen cuz the audio was bad the first attempt.
@@jjanglesandfriends sure but the fact they’re recording in a controlled environment but still ended up needing ADR shows just how much the sound was an issue. That’s a lot of unnecessary studio time, sounds expensive with all the talent!
To be fair, he probably got away with with improv so much on Community because Dan Harmon would throw out scripts because Donald would end up saying something funnier than he wrote.
What does ADR mean?
Dubbing over scenes that have bad audio or performance
Community would have had a perfect, flawless, legendarily friendly and tight knit cast if not for one giant wrench thrown in the works named Chevy Chase
Community is one of my favorite TV shows and probably has my favorite episode of TV ever (season 3 episode 4 Remedial Chaos Theory)
