- Review for the pool. This is my second season using it and I show the pool with a walk around and some live go pro under water shots.
Upgrades:
Intex Sand Filter
Intex Salt Water System
Intex Magnetic Light
Pool Ladder
Hayward skimmer
Total cost for pool, upgrade items, paying someone to level the area and rip out the grass..... two thousand.
Best pool for the price!
Just got mine with the salt water system. It's been up for two weeks and it's great
Great video....just purchased the same and the salt system as well, can't wait to get everything going. Was hoping for a more in depth look at how the system all works.....CANNON BALL!!!!
Probably one of the best pools out
Great tip to call the water dept
Thanks for giving me the confidence to cut and install exterior skimmer.
Good little swimmer. Thanks for the info/tips.
we're gonna buy this same pool we live in North Alabama we think our kids will love it
Thank you. I'm researching this pool and enjoyed the video :)
Jennifer Reynolds Glad I could help. Let me know if you have any questions!
I'm so jealous 😂❤️ we want to buy a 9x18x48,
But yours wow it's so nice
that's HUGE, never seen an intex that big!
Good video, just bought mine. Good info
“Unless you live on top of a bamboo farm” 😂
Great video - I used it to put my pool together - I'm currently filling up my pool. I'm almost half way and I realized the water level on both short sides are not even. the difference is about 4 to 5 inches. Since you have a lot of experience in this.. Do I need to wait until the pool is 100% fill up to determine if it's level or not or should I drain the pool right now to level the ground based on what I see.
Bruny Cherisme Mine wasn't perfect and I wouldn't think 5 inches is too big of an issue. I'd say go with it and enjoy!
It really shouldn't be more than an inch or two out of level. Four or five inches is too much. I'd drain and re-level. I know it's a lot of work, but.........
How's your pool now?
Thanks, good review
I see you did add the skimmer. My pool has the dual returns, do you put the skimmer directly over one of the outlets and leave the other open? I'm having a hard time finding hoses to fit onto the outside of the outlets. any suggestions?
Melissa Lightner did you ever add your skimmer to your pool? I have the same pool as you with the dual returns and I'm curious as to how you installed your skimmer
If you’re mad about your neighbors trees.. & they don’t wanna pay half ... maybe offer to pay for it entirely... here in GA you can get those 4 trees out for 3k. Also maybe they have a pet buried under the tree. I highly doubt they want to see you suffer from leaves in your pool. Great video though. Thanks.
Salt will rust thin tubing fast 2 years at most , with out salt 5 times longer on metal
Todd, do you still have the Intex? how has it held up? have you made any modifications to it?
I had it for a few years and sold it. It was a great little pool. 🙂
@@toddwalz did you upsize?
@@lifeIsTemporaryHere moved and got an inground. 😃
Do you have to take this pool down in winter or do you leave it up year round?
I live in south Alabama so it's left up year round with no issues. It rarely freezes here though.
Thanks for the video how did you connect your plunger valve to the PVC on the outlet?
They make a standard PVC fitting that I found at Lowes that will screw into the plunger. Then you plum the rest together.
Did u use paving blocks??
Is the skimmer still doing good? Have u had any leaks? I have the same pool but scared to cut also
nellcmbre No leaks or issues at all. Do it and enjoy!
I'm having one of these delivered in about 5 days. I would like to be able to get the site completely prepped before it gets here. Is there a schematic that comes with the pool that tells how far outside the perimeter of the pool that the legs stick out? I want to bury 4 x 6 CCA timbers to rest the legs on, but don't know how far to set them outside the actual 32 x 16 pool size.
Not that I remember. But take into account you will need the pool width and an extra 3 feet or so for a grass / weed barrier. You dont want to make it so close you have to trim around the pool.
@@toddwalz I have found the installation paperwork online and no where does it tell you how far the support legs stick out from the edge of the pool. I wonder if you would be so kind as to measure one or two for me? I'll only have 6" to play with, so I'd like to have them centered on it. It looks like maybe a foot or so, meaning the legs are 34 on the long side and maybe 18 on the short?
I gave the pool away a couple of years ago. :(
@@toddwalz 10-4. Thank you for the reply. I'll keep searching.
Did you have an electrician run the 110v wiring?? Or are you running an extension cord?
Jake Duvall I did a simple heavy duty ext cord. Works great.
Just use an extension cord but make sure it is plugged into GFCI outlet
I would like it,I would like just about anything .I could deal with three feet .just don't care for one real shallow .But idtake it.lol just no kiddie pool lol.
Your video is great, how deep is your pool?
It was 4ft deep.
Hello, The skimmer and it original or is it you who have it up?
I would like to build one on mine.
Keep the mulch away from the pool liner because it will puncture the liner ok
We never had a problem with it, but it may of been a small gap between the pool and the mulch.
So the system comes with a salt water system standard?
No I bought it seperate. Worth it!
There are some that comes with both like the one I ordered but there are many without. Just take you time reading the details of the ones you find.
If I was your neighbor and you asked me to cut my tree so my trees leaves aren't an inconvenience for your pool, I'd Say sure, NOT do it and then plant some more trees lol
I'll just fire up the backpack leaf blower every single day about dinner time and blow your leaves and everyone else's back into your yard.
I am looking at upgrading from a 16' round to a rectangular. Can anyone who has one tell me if the measurements of the pool are of the upper edge (swim area). or the extended legs overall footprint of the pool? Thank you to anyone who could help.
just wondering we have the same pool and did you take out one of the out take values to put the Hayward in
I added the Hayward skimmer and used pvc to splice it into the exisiting intake.
@@toddwalz just wondering cause we were planning on doing like yours and the skimmer doesn't cover the intake, we bought our last year so we were wondering what to do it it
this video is from 2014 and you had it for 2 years then... it is now 2018 so it should be 6 years now... how is this holding up? tempted on buying one but i dont want to be buying a new one every 3 years or so ...
Salvador Nobre Veiga last summer was our last season with it BUT it was still going strong. The kids swam in it a a few times last year and with such little use it was time to give it away.
The main issues was the poles rusting due to salt. No issues with the liner at all.
great! I am thinking of building an eclosed deck around it... so it should rpotect it from the elements and probably will use chlorine instead of salt ... if i get 6-8 years at a time, it beats other inground pools for sure...having a deck around it like these:
ua-cam.com/video/UQheZwIcW_w/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/ZAeA00dUPYA/v-deo.html
Toddus Maximus u can clean up rust pretty easy if that s the only reason u got rid of it .gezz
Carol Church I gave it away because it wasn't being used any longer. As far as the rust, about 8 or so poles (every corner) had disintegrated to the point where half the poles where missing. Nothing to clean... they where gone.
@@tysmith7646 Like anything... kids went from everyday use in it's first season to only a couple of times over the last couple. No longer worth the upkeep.
So let's see, after a few years, you've spent $2,000 on a pool the kids aren't fired up about any more. That works out to $400 a year after five years. Heck the junk on cable TV can run you $100 a month if you buy some premium channels, so even if you use your pool only half the year, it's a bargain in my humble opinion. Tear it out when the parts are shot and put up a new one every five years.....still only $400 a year for a great pool. Sure, it's not a fancy $50,000 in grounder, but hey, who cares? :-)
They serve the purpose for sure but they are such an eyesore in your yard. I got so tired of looking at ours that I had to take it down. If you maintain it you can maybe get 4 years out of it before having to replace most of the hardware and plumbing. The rusting poles just look so janky that you do not want people going into your back yard. I guess you really can not expect more for a $1200 pool.
I see your point. Might as well take the wheels off some junk cars and plunk 'em down on concrete blocks around the pool, huh? Ha! @@jeffr985
@@gmaneis Hi I have this same pool and I was watching your video and was wondering did you buy a new sand filter and pump cause it doesn't look like the one that comes with the pool
@@barbaragandy5085 Barbara, if you're writing to me, I'm sorry but I'm not the one who posted the video. I do not own a pool like that one.
What’s the total dimensions with the supports on the ends? Going to start leveling just want to make sure I’m going big enough. Thanks!
I would add two feet all around it. Support the legs on scrap plywood and then cover with some wood chips. Dont forget to lay down some thick tarps to prevent weeds from growing up into the pool.
Thank you for the reply! One more question, I notice some people use plywood and others use concrete pavers is there a specific reason why u chose plywood?
@@lstewart7579 either will work fine. I had some scrap wood so for me it was cost savings. Tarps weed killer and wood chips will cover whatever you decide to use.
Mine lasted for the 5ish seasons I used the pool. I imagine pavers would hold up longer.
Awesome. Thanks again!
Is the pool still going in 2019?
It is still going but not at my home. After five years I passed it on to a friend of my daughter.
The salt system had rusted some of the metal tubes around the corners, but otherwise all is well.
I am getting a hand me down pool of this same size. How hard was it to break it down and move it? My biggest concern is the weight and awkwardness of the liner......
did you add a skimmer to it?
Melissa Lightner yes I bought a Hayward skimmer on Amazon and installed it. Works really well and didnt take long to install. 😊 I was nervous to cut the liner but its still doing well years later.
@@toddwalz do u leave the pool up year round ? Curious about the skimmer and taking doewn the pool in the winter months
@@bigdrew8524 I left it up year round. I live in lower Alabama so it rarely freezes here.
The water would be warm and ready to swim by Memorial Day.
@@toddwalz i gotcha yea im up in pa so it gets frezing cold up here in winter i take it down so the liner doesnt stress with the freezing temps. Idk how the liner would hold up taking the skimmer on and off each season
@@bigdrew8524 I took the pool down and moved it to a friends house. The skimmer and pvc plumbing didn't create an issue. Just be careful.
Hello where is the sound??
In the video.
