  • During construction, the Lower Thames Crossing will give an economic uplift through the supply of new high-quality jobs and skills - locally, and across the UK. We’re profiling some of the specialist suppliers who we think could help us build the new the road, if permission is granted.
Glensanda is the flagship site of construction materials producer and supplier Aggregate Industries, and the largest granite quarry in Europe. Located on the banks of Loch Linnhe on the west coast of Scotland, it's a unique site, as it is only accessible by sea. Glensanda has an annual production capacity in excess of 7 million tonnes, with reserves for the next 100 years.
Working with the Lower Thames Crossing will support their workforce which has more than 200 local people, with the opportunity to bring on more apprentices, graduates and back to work people, as well as invest in new state of the art low-carbon equipment.
Aggregate Industries are an enterprise partner of our Roads North of the Thames Delivery Partner, Balfour Beatty.
