Nice review. Although I'm hard press on getting it at full price due to the rest of games in the collection digital code only and these games pretty old plus more, and new interesting titles coming out.
@@splinterborn forgive me for judging a game on whether it was actually good or not to play! it was repetitive, uninspired and boring in gameplay with very uniform environments and clunky combat and lacked the famous parkour elements. AC2 saved the series from cancellation.
I remember renting Assassin's Creed 2 when it first came out when I was 9 years old from my local Blockbuster! I fell in love with it from then on out! While it and it's two sequels are a bit dated, they all have a very special place in my heart as some of my favorite games! The fact that I can now play these on a handheld simply blows my mind! My younger self would have been even more ecstatic than I am!
I think it can be argued that later games in the series are objectively much better both in game design/mechanics, and performance, but at the end of the day, I think the Ezio collection games are my absolutely favourite AC games. Ezio was such a great character and enjoyed the time period the games took place in immensely
Lol no mechanics and design most of the games after sucked 3 was just okay black flag was good but not a good assassin creed game just a good pirate game unity was great brought back the big city and you were actually an assassin again and then everything after that was shit
Porting Syndicate and Unity would also be a good challenge for Ubisoft. I think it can be done although would sacrifice a lot in terms of graphics. That being said, I'm just happy Ezio trilogy is on the Switch! A must play for old and new AC Fans!
Nah, the Switch is way too weak for those games. They struggled to run on the PS4/Xbox One, there is not a chance they'll get Unity to run on Switch above like 20 FPS at most
I love this game. Its the 1st Assassins Creed I ever played from beginning to end on the 360. The only gripe is the fact only 1 game is on the cartridge. I will be picking up a physical of this and The Rogue collection. Along with Dying Light on cartridge, it sums up my shopping list for the next 6 months ( yes I'm a modest poor man) lol. Cheers Glen. It's pretty nice to have these on the go now. Even without adding extra stuff, getting the story on the go is great to go along with the other games already out. Really hoping for 1 to get the port as well so we have the main Pre-Origins story in a portable format. I totally forgot about the "It's a me, Mario!" line in the game. These three were probably my favorite games in the whole AC series. I beat all three of these games inside and out on the Xbox 360. That said, I'm still not sure I'm interested in replaying them. My backlog is big enough without adding ports of 15-17 year old games to it. lol

I remember ogling the first game when it came out on the pages of a PC gaming magazine. As a broke teenager, I thought I would never have the chance to play it. Then life got in the way. Maybe this time I'll finally give it a chance.
I kinda wish more companies would port their Xbox 360 and PS3 era games to the switch more often (not the exclusive ones obviously). I think given the portability aspect and with good pricing, it would be a win win for both consumers and those companies.
30 hours in and I have to say this is the first review where I think you fluffed the score. Is the free climbing as smooth as later entries? No. Is Ezio the best character from among the protagonists on the switch releases? Clearly. I'm in Venice at the viewpoint opposite the assassin's tomb (one of the best unique features of this entry - mini traversal challenges that are awesome) and the graphics and sense of scale are incredible. This game clearly deserves a high 80's score. Sorry chaps, don't agree with you on this one at all. Another solid port that's well worth the money.
Good review guys. This game was the game that got me truly hooked into the AC series and ubisoft games. cant wait to enjoy a nostalgic play through of this one on the switch after HZD and elden ring
Wow, im honestly impressed with your review, youve managed to highlight how its not super great looking compared to similar rereleases while not letting it absolutely dominate the video like ive seen most other switch reviews tend to do, well done
I don't get this. People do realize this is a portable, right? Back in the PSP days, you couldn't just take a AAA title and dump it on a handheld... games had to be adapted for that format. Even Liberation for the Vita was designed especially for the system. Now people are turning their noses up at 95% accurate ports of console games on Switch because of the other 5%.
@@jessragan6714 agreed! I only have a switch and no other consoles because of my area and I prefer portability. I've played Witcher 3 and the GTA releases on the switch and had a good time with them. The graphics are a given but it didn't take away from the story and playability of the games. My morning and evening commutes definitely pass by better!

I don't know why but this collection interests me greatly. I remember playing them on an older laptop which wasn't the best experience but enjoyed them thoroughly.
Nice. I still haven't finished the Rebel collection, but am glad to hear this seems to have ported well. Will probably check it out someday, likely when it goes on a steep sale.
Yeah. Collections of games that needs 2 out of 3 to be downloaded do not deserve to be bought at full price. Also since it's a Ubisoft game I'll wait when it becomes $15 or less later this year
Assassin's Creed 2 is 7.4 GBs or whatever it is, the FULL Package (including the Audio Dub pack, I'll just download it all) is gonna end up around like 33-34 GBs so yeah... Would have been nice if they could have splurged enough to have the 2 Short Films and Audio Pack (along with AC2) on the Cart but whatever 🤷♂️ I love these games so much that I love having it Digital here (just like Rebel Collection and AC3 Remastered) so I can just play them whenever, also means I was able to get AC2 Downloaded and ready to play NOW so I'll be able to play it on my Commute today instead of having to wait till tomorrow 👍
I played them back in the day, to completion, so no real incentive to get them, but nice to know that more people can get access to them… ridiculous price and not ideal performance given the age of the titles and how Ubisoft should have already plenty of information on how to develop and optimize games for Switch. Thanks for the video.
Assassins Creed II was perfection to me..It had it's flaws, but compared to Odyssey it felt like everything was concise and enjoyable..Odyssey just left me feeling exhausted and it became a chore By the way, make sure you always do what you love and who you love, because as Creed himself once said "There is no tomorrow!"

I have all the AC games available on switch, and I don’t know which one to play through first. If anyone could give me a good starting point I would appreciate it.
Not sure why but your gameplay is way smoother and looks better than my game. My game is super choppy and also the textures look pretty bad. Maybe I just remember ACII differently because I could have sworn the game looked better than this on the PS3.
i have AC III and Rebel Collection. havent played them. im glad. i want to play them in order. some folks hate that the Switch gets so many ports. but i love it. so many games i havent played. and can play them on the system i use the most. vs going to other systems.
Is this a good game for someone who didn't really like Black Flag that much? I found BF okay, but not sure if this is a better entry into the series or if AC in general simply isn't for me.
never been into this series. was turned off by the modern times story line, when i just wanted to be in the past. ive seen alot over the years, but only specifically played a bit of 3. tbh, Black Flag is what interests me the most and maybe i’ll try it someday, but im extremely happy for the fans! Im HAPPY the Switch is getting big games as this. Here’s to hoping Batman comes over next.
I will definitely be looking for this in a future sales video from you guys so please keep us updated on this one! You guys are the only way I find out about these sales tbh lol
Id say wait for sale. Because its a trend with Ubisoft games. Sales can be as soon as 3 month after release. Ive only played Revelations but in no rush to get it tbh
Are all these games physically on he cartridge or is it a download code? Will greatly effect my purchase decision if they are not all physically on the cart. Ridiculous to some I know but that's me.
for 40USD its honestly the better trilogy port. on xbox one x and PS4 Pro there was no 4K patch so the games ran at 1080p max anyways so there's no added incentive to pass this up for a PS4 version or Xbox one version if you own a Switch cause youre gonna get the same resolution and expiereance. the films are a added bonus and are good to expand the stories. considering the age of the games im not expecting Frame-rate to be a issue but sadly since im not a reviewer for me to do a frame-rate analysis i gotta wait till the game is officially out. i think i said it on another one of your videos a framerate clip would be the cherry icing on the cake for your videos you talk about not seeing or experiencing FPS drops but seeing the graph on screen showing that stable 30fps is just a delight in my opinion. its not needed but i guess for me a delight. but again another great video.
Character models have always looked this bad, it isn't an aging issue. They were always very expressive but not that detailed. I remember thinking this back then when AC2 released and I compared it to other games from the time (like Arkham Asylum or CoD4 Modern Warfare).
about 4 or 5 years ago i bought assassin creed II, Brotherhood, and revelation and played them on pc. I really got carried away by the story and now I can play portable with good graphics. I still can't believe it, I bought a Switch Lite on the grounds that I needed a portable handheld because I'd never tried PSP and PSVita before, I bought the limited edition dialga palkia, and it looks cool
Unlike many here, I have no Nostalgia for Ezio as I never played those games. Would you say it’s worth getting them after being used to the Rebel Collection?
7.4gb only covers AC 2. The entire collection, with the 2 short movies included is just over 30gb. Although the Witcher III was able to jam that much (or pretty close to it, I don't quite remember exactly how large it was) onto a single card with only the updates needing to be downloaded. I really wish more companies would opt to put the entirety of a game onto the cartridge, because the more companies buy the larger cartridge sizes, the cheaper they'll become in the long run. Oh well.
I remember, I beat AC1 and thought it was good. Then I beat AC2 and thought it was great and was excited for the story moving forward. Then I skipped the next couple of games thinking they were just spin-offs only to realize after starting AC3, that they were absolutely crucial to the plot and I was just lost and confused on why the girl I fell for in the first two games wasn’t only dead, but was somehow plotting against me. Oh, and my dad was randomly with me and a few other strangers all piled up in a van headed somewhere that I had no clue about. But anyways, now I can finally fill in those holes in the story.
Yesterday i bought the assassin's creed rebel colletion on my nintendo switch. I havent played that much, but from what i have Sean it runs perfectly and the gameplay is solid👌
This video helped me decide to buy the game! I bought the game on Tuesday, and beat AC II today! I’m really excited to try the other games as I have not played any of them!
@@churbo9597 I ended up not playing the other two games because life got in the way, but AC II was pretty fun! I'd say if you can get the game anywhere from $20-$35 you could call it a steal!
Still a shame that they dont include AC1. Its might be old but boy this along with Crysis were some of my most memorable gaming moments (When you the "world" opens up in front of you and you just had that ginormous scale -for that time- building up). Also the actual climbing in AC1 was far better than in the following games. Though by giving up a lot of the controls you get ease of access. Its give and take.

never been into this series. was turned off by the modern times story line, when i just wanted to be in the past. ive seen alot over the years, but only specifically played a bit of 3. tbh, Black Flag is what interests me the most and maybe i’ll try it someday, but im extremely happy for the fans! Im HAPPY the Switch is getting big games as this. Here’s to hoping Batman comes over next.
Cant wait for this as I love playing these games the ac 3 and the black flag(my favourite) bundle love the fact I can play them on a portable device.
which assassin's creed is best for switch?
I know it would be impossible but man, I wish Unity could be ported to the Switch
I will definitely be looking for this in a future sales video from you guys so please keep us updated on this one! You guys are the only way I find out about these sales tbh lol
Just a question, which port is this ? the remastered version for the ps4 and xbox one? Or the ezio collection for the ps3 and 360?
Remastered
I love the Ezio series, he is my favorite assassin! ❤️
How do you switch between those 3 games
Got this game and Diablo 4… guess which one I’m enjoying more
Excellent review as usual. Glad it runs better than it looked in the recent direct. Will definitely pick it up as soon as it goes on sale :)
Same here. I bought it for PS4 Pro and I'll double dip and get it for Switch just as I did with Witcher 3.
Great review! I never bought my switch for graphics really so this is a must have! Portable Assassins Creed 💪
Id say wait for sale. Because its a trend with Ubisoft games. Sales can be as soon as 3 month after release. Ive only played Revelations but in no rush to get it tbh
Funny just bought it on sale for $29.99 2 months after posting this comment 🤣
No better way to put the A-S-S in Assassin’s Creed than playing portable on the porcelain throne…
Maybe the game has aged, but that "It's a-me, Mario!" line is as fresh as it was when AC2 was released.
is there any plans in the future for the Splinter Cell series which is my all time favorite.
Good review. I just got Retro Bowl and is so good you should do a review
Ezio collection or Rebel collection in switch?
Which is better ? In terms of Performance (in switch) and story ...
Oh well.
I’m really happy now with the AC games on Switch. Imo the best AC has ever been starts with AC II, all the way up till Black Flag, maybe even Rogue.
Thanks for the info Glen, probably gonna buy this to get me true my next 2 day hospital stay, love how portable the switch is and still beats school 😁
This video reminded me that I still haven't played the rebel collection 😅 but this is a day one purchase for me.
As you said, in 2-3 months this will already be on sale which will raise the value to closer to 15/16. Ubisolt loves sales and microtransactions lol
The poster boy of Assassins Creed.. finished this multiple times and now thinking if I should get it just for collection.
Assassin's Creed 2 was one of the first games that was truely 'next gen' to me, I remember my mind being blown
I just wish they ported AC origins to switch
Yesterday i bought the assassin's creed rebel colletion on my nintendo switch. I havent played that much, but from what i have Sean it runs perfectly and the gameplay is solid👌
Me too! I was able to get a physical copy which apparently is out of print.
My most favourite game ever. And the soundtrack 🤌🏻
This video helped me decide to buy the game! I bought the game on Tuesday, and beat AC II today! I’m really excited to try the other games as I have not played any of them!
Worth it? Never played AC before
@@churbo9597 I ended up not playing the other two games because life got in the way, but AC II was pretty fun!
Its give and take.
is there a way to skip a memory when you're having trouble completing it?
