    I never knew there were so many varieties of mint! Makes me want to buy them all. With lemon basil, I love to add it to an Asian tomato salad - fresh chopped tomatoes, Thai peppers, cilantro, green onion, lemon basil, fish sauce, and sugar. Season to taste. I eat the tomato salad with chicken, pork, beef, etc. Any type of protein. So yummy!

    You can also freeze herbs in freezer bags, either on the stem or just the leaves. We've done that with a type of mint that the Amish call garden tea. I don't have much freezer space, so I've been drying mine in large quantities and then strip the leaves from the stem and put them in gallon size bags. I don't have anywhere to hang mine so I dry them spread out on aluminum pans that have holes in them (usually used for grilling, lol), sometimes loosely stacked and/or covering any space around the house. 😅 So far I've only dried and used mint for tea but I'll have to try adding lemon balm (I grow it to keep mosquitoes away while working in the garden by rubbing crushed leaves onto my skin). I'll look for and watch your video on herb usage as I'll find that very interesting!

    I need to do some of that work with my Lemon Balm. I want to save some for tea and tinctures 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
    Edit: I took science classes and got my business degree too. I had a medical reason to stay in college longer than most, so I made lemons out of lemonade given that scenario lol

    Yes!!! Garden Robe!!! I’ve been doing this for years and I’m sure my neighbors think I’m nuts. 🤣
    It’s warm but also functions as a barrier to the dirt/debris. I feel we would be friends if we lived closer… 😊

    I have a dehydrator I use for herbs, but I do love the look of your drying rods!

      Which dehydrator do you have?

    • @MOUSEMOM40
      @MOUSEMOM40 Місяць тому

      @@ChicagoGardener - I have an 80 liter commercial grade dehydrator from Cabela's. I dehydrate a lot though. There are smaller and much more affordable sizes available. In addition to drying herbs, I dehydrate kale and spinach and all kinds of veg to use in soups over the winter, mushrooms to make mushroom powder for gravy, and peppers to add to chili!

    So...I apparently mispronounced Gethesmane for all the years I lived in Chicago. Oops.

    I went down the exact same rabbit hole to find apple mint but I decided not to buy it. I'm also like you, I didn't pay attention at ALL in biology. So I would absolutely binge on those types of videos. It kind of bothers me I can't explain anything 😅
