- In this video we learn about the distinct differences of egg and sperm cells, which are also known as gametes. We will see how the chromosomes from each cells come together to form our unique genetic code.
The gametes (sperm and egg cells) are haploid - so only have half the number of chromosomes. This is 23 in humans.
When a sperm fertilises an egg cell, the chromosome number becomes diploid - so the normal number of chromosomes which is 46 in humans (found in 23 pairs). One chromosome in each pair comes from the mother and the other from the father.

0:55 this picture is a misconception for the actual 46 chromosome in our cells..
The X shape of chromosome only appears during duplication period before cell division..
The correct way to say it is: human has 23 "pairs" of chromosomes.. Means 46 chromosomes.. 23 from each parent..
We say chromosome but actually it's chromatid of 1 stick rather than 2 sticks attached like an X..
There are a lot of problems with this video that will make it very confusing. It is a pity. It has great potential and some very good looking (but misleading) graphics. Watch with care.
Umm nope i did not find any mistakes...

Hello school
Snxw Good
who else thought that the first part of the video sounded like teded
this is a good video and i have learned about this thank you so much for this science video it is very useful
Most welcome! Glad it was helpful!
During the meiosis each gamet ends up with n. chromosomes (each is formed of one chromatid), right?
if so, then what happens so that during fertilization we get 2 homologous chromosomes (formed of 2 chromatids each) one from the mother and the other from the father and not 2 homologous chromosomes formed of 2 different chromatids each, one chromatid from the mother and the other from the father?
Everyone also has a diff balance i say as video then also does
Hmm heard takes 1 sperm cell ti make baby video says i think they said 23 and ya some no matter gender has more female chromsones then male it varies in this unique world
Ovum rocks.....
wtf

This videos animation just creates confusion, find something else
how do people not laugh while making this video
hello
Each egg cell has a chromosome ... Is X or xx?
As it is possible to inject sperm to an egg cell, is it possible to inject another creature's sperm to another's egg cell? And will it live or produce?
PLEASED
WhajayahHAHAHHA
Who else is watching this for their science class?
mee
I’m here because of advanced science :/
Gcb check
Hmm a bit confused
Ahhhhhh
