Without a doubt, the clearest and most applicable explanation of wrist hinge ive ever watched. Game changer for me. Thank you so much for taking the time and focus to effectively explain what so many have not been able to. Well done.

Pre setting my bowed left wrist during the take away and keeping it bowed the all the way 6 inches post impact has totally revolutionised my game. That is the key I believe.

Totally agree. Once I stopped trying to keep my right wrist cocked but kept my left wrist bowed has made my iron contact significantly better.

What i am wondering is you are also supposed to twist that bowed left wrist to the right aswell? And so my question then is should it keep that right twist angle all the way down?

This is legitimately one of the top 3 golf tips I've ever seen. For me, it completely eliminates worrying about what my wrists should be doing throughout the swing. With that out of the way, all I have to worry about is swing path and low point control - not easy but the golf swing got a lot simpler. It clicked immediately with a 7i and took like a day to get it with the woods as I wasn't holding the hinge in the trail wrist as much as I needed to. Golf just got fun again, much appreciated

Russell, I'm a long time golfer that only played a couple rounds a year. I never posted a good score and I rarely practiced. I played to have social time with my buddies. However, I have decided to get serious about golf after I played 3 rounds this past fall. My swing was a mess. Steep take away, no wrist hinge, steep swing with a flip at contact. I shot a 109 and 105 in the rounds I kept score.
I decided to take a lesson and I have struggled worse since. I am scheduled for my 2nd lesson on Thursday. I find that my instructor has me doing similar things on my take away, but he didn't explain it like you. It is making much more sense now. I really appreciate your videos and IMO they are the best I've found regarding instruction and explanation. I really want to thank you! Have a great 2022 season!!

I want to thank you for this video which I just found yesterday and took your instruction to my home course today…this understanding of wrist conditions allowed me to shoot my lowest score of the season a 77 on. Par 72 course. I was, to say the least, elated ! This worked with all my clubs from driver to sand wedge, and I was amazed ( as were my playing partners) as to how it changed the accuracy and compression of my ball striking. A very grateful subscriber from Nova Scotia. Cheers Mike.

I haven't even tried this yet, (well some sort of it) but your video angle really helps show exactly what needs to be done. When I feel like I hinge my wrists down to impact I see the greatest distance improvements on my shots. I guess I have to practice this for a while to start bottoming out my club correctly and not keep changing swing thoughts and hinge/cock of wrists. Thanks bud!!!

This is transformative! I have, up till now, had this totally wrong. I have always cocked my wrists up. I thought that this is what hinging meant. Then I would hold that up-cocked position as long as possible. I just hit a bucket with this newly understood definition of the "hinge". WOW! Thank you! I cannot express just how transformative this move is.

Have been struggling with over the top motion for a couple of years now after becoming too confident about my swing. Tried this out at the range today and I started hitting my 8-P pretty solid. I started pulling a few shots left but eventually ended up hitting them straigt with pretty decent contact and started feeling that compression of the golfball again. Must admit I have been pretty close quitting golf after being really satisfied and confident with my ironplay for a couple of years, to end up feeling like I have never played golf before again. I am still struggling a lot with my longer irons though, dont know why. Anyway, thank you for putting out so much quality content. Steffen, Norway

Hi Russell thanks for your content. This is an area where so much misinformation/conflict arises. I have had lessons where I am told doing this is a ‘death move’ and effectively adds yet another moving part to your swing. It’s easy to see how people get confused when coaches contradict each other. Thanks again

THIS ADVICE IS GOLD! I've been struggling with hitting the ball FAT with irons about 20% of the time for quite a while, so I tried this today at the driving range. I hit about 20 balls with a 7 iron. INSTANTLY picked up 10 yards and hit the ball more consistently. Went out and played 18 and had the best round that I've had in the past 25 rounds and it would have even been better if my short game would have been on. Thank you sooooooo much!

I think this is one of your best videos Russell and is reminiscent of Joe Dante's teachings from the 50's. This highlights a fault I've had due to faulty teaching or faulty understanding about wrist 'cock' and how the wrists set on the takeaway and backswing. When I've done it correctly in the past (unwittingly I imagine) my swing has felt so solid and really powerful, but unfortunately I've not really understood what I've done and have soon gone back to bad/faulty habits. So, many thanks for this
